We have all seen his pressers/media the last 6 months he is not afraid to take jabs/mock Waggott his state of mind and demeanour has been eaten away over a period of time, he isn't the jolly happy go lucky manager that arrived in June 2022.

It might be an untenable situation or he might grin and bear it until an oportunity arises, ultimatley though if its untenable it's on the club to sack him and pay him off or mutually agree a package with him to leave, not for him to walk away with nothing.

There's a difference between the jabs he's made and coming out and going scorched earth on the club, which has to be the suggestion of what was going to happen if he was blocked from attending the press conference. Either way we don't know at the moment so it's all speculation until our shambles of a leadership clarifies what in the world is going on.

I would agree that at a normal club the onus would be on them to remove the manager if they feel the situation has reached an untenable point. This isn't a normal club, however, so JDT has to consider his own reputation and how much it could be damaged by remaining at this circus for too much longer. For the past year he's sucked it up and continued on amidst the nonsense happening above him, but at some point he may have to accept enough is enough and move on for his own sake. You'd think it has to be a pretty miserable working environment for him at this point.

But from what I have heard of the McGuire analysis, he is far from the perfect striker but he meets the characteristics list of what he hadn't previously got in the squad absolutely perfectly. Genuinely excited by this one.

Genuine question - of that analysis what would you say earmarks him as being different from Gallagher? Other than potentially being less injury prone. I've only seen clips and was reminded of Gally in that the lad was a bit clumsy and more like an athlete than a footballer. I'd be interested in some further details as YouTube clips aren't exactly a great way to judge a player and we may not see him for a whle yet.

Ironically this is one of the times Waggot has done right by JDT in pulling him from the presser. The club has a duty of care over all employees and to put JDT out there in a club sanctioned duty while aware of JDT's state of mind and demeanour could have bit them on the arse. I remember John Gregory & Aston Villa getting fined £10's of thousands back in the day after Villa allowed Gregory to do media after Dwight Yorke joined Man Utd where Gregory said "If I'd Had A Gun I Would Have Shot Dwight Yorke". So them actually be proactive for once and not letting JDT have the chance of ruining his reputation (the clubs is shot so who really care about that at this point) is a good thing.

We don't know JDT's state of mind or demeanour so stating this as fact rather than opinion isn't helpful.

If the manager is so angry about the transfer window and state of the club that he's being blocked from speaking to the press then you can't spin that as a good thing. It's an untenable situation that, if true, would leave little choice but for JDT to leave. How can the players believe in the coach if he's made it clear he doesn't think they are good enough for what he wants?

The model has never and will never exist with these owners.

Indeed so. It's like asking someone to paint you a masterpiece and then providing them with crayons and toilet paper. You can say that's what you want, but if you don't provide the resources then it doesn't matter. JDT did a great job last season trying to implement what was asked of him with a squad that was not really suited for it, but since then he's had less and less to work with. At some point it just becomes an impossible ask.

  5. I could sit my 6 year old niece in front of a Year 11 GCSE paper and she wouldn't want to fail, but neither would she have the knowledge to answer any of the questions. With that said I'd expect by the time 13 years had passed she'd be able to handle it comfortably.

With that said, with Venky's it'd be more like plonking my dog in front of the paper and watching as it got eaten.

    Not good.

Thanks Rovers for ruining Friday night after having had a very good day.

Rovers have always been heart breakers throughout my life but the last 12 years has been one self inflicted shambles after another.

Of course JDT will not be the easiest person to work with. Driven professionals never are.

But he is a class act in what is sadly a classless club now.

You do wonder why they even bothered giving him the job in the first place. Since day one he's had more ambition and expectation than the owners or indeed the majority of the fanbase can muster. It was never going to work unless, by some miracle, he got us up in his first season. He might have managed it, too, if he'd been backed last January. Instead since then he's been systematically undermined to the point where he would have every right to walk.

  7. It does seem like the endgame is approaching fast in regards to JDT's tenure with us. If he's been blocked from speaking to the press then he is clearly absolutely furious. It's hard to come up with any other plausible explanation.

This means he clearly doesn't rate the business we've done. With that being the case it'd be pretty awkward for him to coach the side going forward, you'd think. I just don't see how this ends well.

I remember Fabio Nunes looked like he might have something about him from the little we saw. Edinho Junior I remember for some reason he started the game after he signed, was hooked at half time and was never seen again. Definitely something dodgy about those transfers.

Bruno Ribeiro was another odd one. He wasn't seen for a year after signing and then he finally played a game and got MoM.

Or as he was otherwise known, the Brazilian Denis Irwin.

    - McGuire's an interesting one as it's quite rare for an MLS draftee to excel like that. Possible we've caught him on a major upswing, but reason to be cautious. Loan-to-buy option lowers the risk (and amazing we've essentially funded that by shipping out Ennis) and maybe he will excel and we'll be happy to take up the option for £5m+ (sneer at MLS if you like, but it should be noted that (successful) £5-10m+ MLS sales aren't out of the norm these days), but if we apparently had to cancel a £3-4m deal to arrange that, it again highlights Venky's schizo funding.

I genuinely cannot see us spending £5m on a single player right now - but even if we did, would that be a smart move if we do only have £12m to play with over two seasons? Wages taken into account you'd be looking at half of our two year budget essentially spent on one player. If we already had a strong squad then you'd say yeah, that's okay, but we'll need a major rebuild in the summer.

All moot in the end anyway, as whether Venky's can fund the club by the summer or not I don't think it's likely we'll see that kind of money spent. Most likely legalities will still be ongoing and I don't see Venky's giving the green light for any major spending until that concludes.

You guys got what you wanted, an echo chamber and a place to vent.

The days of “the bigger picture” being on BRFCS are long gone in my opinion.

Also, can you point me to the evidence of asset stripping and a financial black hole where our money dissapears? For over a decade,  nobody has ever proven that, yet it’s all over every page

You say this every time you leave and then end up coming back, venting and departing again for a few months. If it's getting you this wound up I would just sack it off entirely.

Pessimistic/realistic view aligning with general direction of the club is obviously not the same as 'every extreme negative comment posted is true'.

  11. Considering the club has in many respects been in consistent decline for the past 13 years, and has at best stagnated in other areas, I'm not really sure how the supposed 'extreme negativity' or pessimism of the wider forum is asynchronous with reality. I can understand wanting to take positives and if you'd rather focus on that then the bigger picture then sure, go for it, but I struggle to understand the need to have outbursts against a supposedly negative outlook that has ultimately been almost always proven right for over a decade.

Impressive, although - again - another only to the end of the season. Has to be something in the lack of commitment past the end of the season. Something has to be driving it.

Presumably Venky's having no idea if they'll be able to fund the club by then and limiting any future additional costs. Wharton money assumedly carries us until then.

Gallagher, McGuire and Telalovic as the 3 forwards.

Hopefully they had a loan lined up for Leonard. The lad may have potential, but he needs a chance to play 15+ games at a (good) L1 team. Bolton?

Had responded to you saying it isn't confirmed yet, but hadn't seen the twitter update...

Problem with those three as a forward lineup is that Gallagher is injury prone lately, Telalovic may not be at the required level and McGuire is a young lad moving to a new country having not played at a level beyond the MLS at this point.

I'd keep Leonard personally. If Gallagher gets injured again I think he'll be needed.

We'd have been a lot better off selling Gallagher and bringing in a striker 5 years younger on a permanent basis at zero net cost or maybe even a small profit after taking account wages.

We've just sold Wharton for £18m rising to £22m and been told we can't spend a penny on transfer fees. To be honest I doubt selling Gallagher for £1m - 1.5m (the ballpark figure Ipswich were reportedly offering) would have made any difference. Just more cash for the running costs whilst we continue to bring in loans and freebies. As much as I can't believe I'm saying this, I'd rather have Gallagher here.

He was already back in light training I think,

It was on Rovers TV, which doesn't seem to be working at the moment

    but this covers it

Thanks, it's good to hear that his recovery is ahead of schedule. Just hope we don't rush him back out of desperation and end up causing him further problems.

I do wonder if we have been told we can't spend money on transfer fees because of the pending court case. This isn't to absolve the owners - as ultimately the court case is down to them.

That's been known about for some time though - so again, why would GB think he could spend a decent chunk on McGuire, presumably as a result of the Wharton sale? Is there literally no communication between our DOF and those above him until the very last second, when a deal has already been made?

We've also spent £500k on this Crewe lad and reportedly at least £500k on a loan fee for McGuire, likely instalment based for the Crewe lad at least, but still... some money is there - but seemingly the majority of it can only be spent on players who won't be with us beyond the current season. Nothing good to be concluded from that.

He (Buckley) did an interview last month and said mid February

Mid-feb return to the first team, or training? Didn't see that interview.

I just want to know why we can’t sign -anyone for a fee now? Must of got a call last night saying loans only.

Strange in of itself, because if the Wharton money was going towards running costs anyway, why did Broughton think he could spend £2m+ on a striker? Why are we seeing a repeat of the summer where a list is drawn up only to be ripped up by Venky's seemingly without our DoF having any clue that it was going to happen?

We're totally dysfunctional and it's being laid bare for the third transfer window in a row.
