  1. Don't you have to ring America to cancel the trial though

I'm tempted to sign up but worried id be locked in for 6 months then locked out of the content

In regards to cancelling, it says in the T&C:

IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR TRIAL SUBSCRIPTION CONVERTED INTO A PAID SUBSCRIPTION, YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR SERVICE BEFORE THE END OF YOUR TRIAL SUBSCRIPTION BY CALLING (866) 308-5684 OR BY CANCELING IN THE BILLING INFORMATION SECTION OF YOUR WWE NETWORK ACCOUNT.

So it looks like you can cancel online.

As for being locked out of content, I'd say it's unlikely but I suppose it is possible. On the other hand a 6 month sub is still only around £38 so probably a risk worth taking...

  2. I remember him posting during the days I lurked, but not since I started posting regularly. His unique posting style certainly stood out. My condolences to his family and friends.

  3. I heard on the radio this morning that NGog is on 35k pw, Wheater is on 25k, Eagles on 30k and Tyrone Mears is on 20k and hasnt played since we dicked them 4-1. There was something about Beckford too. I only half heard it because I was busy, but im sure they mentioned he was on 40k at Leicester and took a pay cut to go to Bolton. But you'd have to guess it wouldn't be a huge drop or he'd have sat tight. Some of those figures are very very scary.

Absolutely bonkers. Eagles and Mears are at best Championship level players, Wheater arguably the same these days and N'Gog has never even come remotely close to fulilling the potential that persuaded Liverpool to buy him. As for Beckford being on 40k p/w at Leicester... words fail me. No wonder the game is in such a mess.

  4. DE and that is the point gambling on staying in the PL forever was a totally unsustainable business model.

DE that is not entirely true I would hate to even speculate what QPR's balance sheet would look like.

DE think about it David NGog, Martin Petrov former Man City etc...

Point 1: This plan would have been approved by the Bolton board though, no? Us and Wigan are nowhere near Bolton's level of debt after all - though we're edging closer to it thanks to the loons.

Point 2: I'd be surprised if there were many teams in the Championship with a bigger debt than Bolton. QPR may come close but other than that?

Point 3: From recollection those guys weren't hugely expensive so their wages and signing on fees must have been absolutely ridiculous.

  5. Wow, massive losses/debt, that's why I was asking the other day how we fair comparatively.

Link below shows biggest one year losses in English football

@sportingintel: Bolton join .... errm ... an elite band. http://t.co/ayyK0r8Hek

That really is shocking. Wtf have they spent so much on? I can't remember them splashing those levels of cash around, although from memory the likes of Elmander were pretty expensive (and awful).

  6. I don't think it's a smart move, I think it's a necessary evil for clubs like ours and Bolton's. We may not have had massive debt at the time but our wages-to-turnover ratio was unsustainably high without Sky money and a £20m or so sale every year.

Now we haven't enough income from either source but you know this, hence the throwaway comment about someone else posting on your BRFCS account.

I've posted similar to Gartside about Rovers on this mb in the last fortnight.

There are very few other clubs in the type of debt Bolton are in, as far as I'm aware anyway. I agree that clubs like ours have little choice but to overspend a little to try and compete but Bolton have clearly gone off the deep end financially.

  7. The loss of income from relegation is incredible. Has someone hacked your account, DE?

A PL infrastructure isn't sustainable. Players have all the power so it's no so simple as saying, "ok, you were on £25,000 in the Prem but now we've been relegated you are on £2,500". So all the parachute money goes on wages. Sponsors are not as forthcoming. When was the last time you heard of a club, any club making millions for it's shareholders? Ironically probably Bumley.

FFP is crucifying those few clubs who 'punched above their weight' for a reasonable length of time.

Don't understand the "hacked into your account" comment, my point was that Bolton have clearly adapted a poor business model which has left them in horrific debt and that was based on staying in the Premiership forever. If you think that was a smart move then OK, but I certainly don't. If the choice is ending up with an ungodly amount of debt or playing in the Championship (considering the club is likely to end up there anyway) I know what the right business decision would be.

As has been mentioned by others in this thread, we did OK before Venky's came in and were nowhere near those levels of debt. We still aren't even with everything Venky's have done in the last 3 years.

  8. I don't follow Gartside's argument that being in the Prem for 11 years and then getting relegated is the reason for their financial problems. That's 11 seasons of very healthy television money, 11 seasons of decent prize money and 11 seasons of Premier League sponsorship money. Whilst the FA have plenty to answer for in relation to English football finances I don't think they or the Prem are to blame for Bolton's horrendous debt level. They've spent beyond their means and adhered to an unsustainable business model, it's not much more complicated than that. If they couldn't afford to spend the money they should have kept it within the club and if that meant relegation a few seasons sooner then so be it - the fans would likely be angry at "lack of investment" but is £150M+ debt a better alternative? Seems to me that Bolton's owner gambled the club's financial health on perpetual Premier League survival, which is obviously not a sound strategy for a club the size of Bolton.

  9. Didn't realise he was still under contract there :/ what's your take on WWE atm?

I feel they were brilliant from post-wm29 to summerslam and have tailed off since. But this past raw was a great ending so I'm hoping they step it up for wm30.

They've been keeping Rhodes and Reigns individually very strong within their teams, so hoping both these guys break out in the upper card or ME next year.

I think WWE has been awful for some time tbh. It was alright around WM season last year but the "authority" storyline with HHH/Stephanie is just bad TV. Their PPV numbers are in steep decline which is no surprise, and the ratings have dipped below 3.0 consistently for some time now which is also a tell-tale sign that people are losing interest in what is a stale and largely disappointing product. There is still some decent stuff - the Shield are good and Goldust coming back and looking great has been fun. Bryan and Punk continue to impress despite not really doing anything important.

But come on, Orton Vs Big Show as the Survivor Series main event? Cena Vs Orton for the millionth time? There is such a lack of fresh ideas at the top of the card and every time a break out star seems to be coming to break the autonomy at the top (from recent memory Punk, Bryan, Ziggler) their pushes are sabotaged and they soon return to playing second fiddle to Cena, Orton and Triple H. That cycle needs to end for WWE to improve.

  10. I don't think Messrs Battersby and Currie have anything like the wherewithal to take over the Club but if it's good enough for the man perceived by many to be the man on the white charger to say that I don't see why it isn't good enough for everyone else.

This is a bit of a strange perception, isn't it? You state the majority are wrong in believing Battersby and Currie can do anything to save the club, then use what you perceive to be an error to endorse a viewpoint. Baffling.

  11. On that note I notice Ian Battersby in one of his most recent interviews said it was time to put all the conspiracy theories to bed.

Considering he's trying to take the club away from Venky's it wouldn't make much sense for him to say the opposite and upset them even more, would it? They don't talk to him as it is, if he started endorsing conspiracy theories he could well and truly forget it.

  12. The ill feeling will NEVER EVER dissipate.

Unfortunately certain people are itching for it to do so.

Not sure how anybody could possibly feel anything other than constant contempt and hatred for Venky's. They've inflicted enough damage on this club to last a lifetime, and may well have ruined the possibility of a lot of young lads having a proper local team to support in future.

    Dissipating ill feeling? Never.

  13. I don't want Ali at the club in any role. I don't care if it's a coach of a @#/? ballboy. He has no business at this club. If he wants to start a coaching career I'm sure there are some non-league clubs who would give him some work experience. He can start there instead of using personal influence to get a role he's completely unqualified for here.

  14. The only intriguing thing about Khan fighting PBF is his handspeed. He'll be able to match Floyd in that department.

Sadly, in all other areas (and especially ring intelligence), it's a total mismatch. Floyd would time Khan to death. Very difficult to see it going 12 rounds given the combination of Mayweather's accuracy and Khan's chin.

It'll go 3 or 4 rounds max imo, can't see Floyd allowing it to go any further.

  15. Khan set to fight Floyd Mayweather on May 3rd. A total mismatch imo but win-win for Khan. He'll get an absolute fortune and even if he totally embarrasses himself people will say "well, it was Mayweather" and think no less of him. It's not like he'll be ranked any lower if he loses and there's always the chance of a lucky punch.
