    Wasn't that ruled out ?

"So for a centre-back, a deal is still being worked on. Unaware of the identity, but I know it’s not one of Sarr or Phillips. Sarr is a none-starter and the same applies to Phillips.

Liam Lindsay is a potential target but I cannot imagine a loan deal for him would be this drawn out.

An alternative option involves another European name. The club are doing well to keep their recruitment confidential so far."

That last line is class. What f@&king recruitment? A goalkeeper? To replace another goalkeeper. The recruitment team have done a great job strengthening the squad.

  2. Never a massive Hanley fan but at this level he is decent and he’s certainly an improvement on Del, who’ll be starting at Bournemouth at this rate. But cannot for the life of me see it happening. We’ll end up with some kid from a PL under 23s on loan who’s prob no better than Wharton. Why is our recruitment so garbage?

  3. How is it possible to be manager of a club for nearly four years, be an ex centre half and to not have made, in that time, a permanent centre half signing apart from Paul Downing? We have the same leaky sh£t defence that we had under that moron Coyle apart from Amari Bell. Same sh£t, different window. It’s so frustrating and boring.

This is turning into a right shower of shite, not sure why any of us expected any different mind  - especially in the current climate.

Leicester must have someone garbage in their reserves we can just bundle on the coach after the game on Sat and have done with it.

    Brace yourselves my arse ?

Yeah absolutely spot on. It’s Groundhog Day every transfer window. Plenty of rumours, no end product. Yawn. Yawn. Yawn.

I think we all know what positions we need to strengthen but I think we also need to get some leaders on the pitch. We are woefully lacking characters.

Danny Graham didn't play that often but he had a presence which I think encouraged others and certainly brought the best out of Dack. With him gone who's left? Travis is a battler but doesn't really have leadership qualities just yet.

Won't be a popular suggestion but I'd go for Sam Morsy if Wigan are offloading. May not fill one of our problem positions but just what we need in terms of character.

Morsy would be a great shout. Just what we’ve missed for a years. A proper hard man. Who cares if he’s not popular.

Pre this I’d never really heard of kipre. He’s only a Wigan defender. He’s now the holy grail. Less than a million when top draw defenders go for 30 million.

Came from Motherwell to wigan via the French league. It journeyman stuff. Would a journey man choose more money at wba?obviously he would.

Are there more players of kipre standard? Very very probably.

Most of it is desperation from us. We’ve missed out on an average player. Move on

You’re right mate. Shows how far we’ve plummetted

    This is from the LT:

"Asked if it could be the next day or two, Mowbray said: “I hope so but it’s never quite as easy as that. I think we’ve got a level of agreement potentially with another signing but experience tells me ‘they want this, they want that’ or ‘we can’t quite do this’ or ‘we can’t do that’. "

Well at least that clears that up then...

    It didn't get me excited.

I'm saving that for when we actually part with the pounds and not pre publicise it in detail to anyone that may be remotely interested in the same player.

Odd that as we had somehow cultivated a history as a club of keeping quiet whilst never actually doing so.

Very strange for Sharpe to advertise to other interested parties that we were in advanced talks. Why not wait until it was signed and sealed. Maybe give impression that we were buying when we weren’t but why would they do that? No season tickets sales to worry about yet. All rather confusing.

The main assumption wrongly made is that Kipre would go there to make up the numbers. As if hes massively inferior to the other 3 centre backs they have. When in fact I think he would fancy his chances of not only playing first team football, but Premier League first team football and bettering himself.

I think one or two have the blue and white blinkers on.

Thats before considering the fact that I can understand why thousands of pounds would be very hard to turn down!

I think you’re right. Kyle Bartley and Hegazi and Ajayi are hardly world beaters, more journeymen than class centre halves. He’s got a chance of being first choice.

I had this realisation earlier when I saw Rich's article. It really hit home how far we have fallen that we can't even beat West Brom to a signing. Even more so, how disappointed I am that we won't be signing a defender from Wigan!

Shows how far we’ve fallen. Fans (including myself) excited about a 900k signing of a centre back. Then beaten to it by West Brom. Ultimate yo yo club with no trophys. Oh well. Nice to have some optimism, even if only for a few hours. And poor old Rich Sharpe. Finally with some transfer info ahead of the game. And then all for nothing.
