I think I'd agree with that. Jim Fryatt was a top class header of the ball but really average at everything else. Rudy Gestede was at that level heading wise also but better with the ball at his feet.

Gestede was class for us. He's done nothing since and probably never will.

  2. Goodwillie is another great shout. Goulon and Bruno Berner were terrible. The Axe put himself about but couldn't pass a ball five yards, which was a problem if you were playing central midfield. Kuqi was a cult hero but turned like the QE2 and was technically dreadful.

All time best premier league keepers. What a load of bollocks that list is. Classic sports media unless you played predominantly for a big club you’re not even considered. Jaaskelainen better than most of those.

Allison has only played a season or two! How's he included. And ederson for that matter.

Spot on. Brad and Jussi should be near the top. Niemi too maybe. Flowers? Howard?

  4. Apologies; last one I promise. Keeping my mind on lighter things in these rubbish times.

    Kean (garbage)

    Orr (Kean's cheerleader)

    Duffy (two own goals)

    Dann ( smaller when jumping)

    Neill (money grabber)

    Ferguson (homesick for Glasgow)

Lowe ( no need to explain)

    Murphy (lazy mercenary)

    Etuhu (as above)

    Best (as above)

    Yorke (as above)

  5. Following on from the joy of thinking of some our best players in our best PL 11, thoughts turned to some of our worst. I wasn't really focussing on the imposter mercenaries like Best, Murphy, Etuhu. They clearly had talent underneath their money grabbing, lazy personas. Or even the Portuguese pub players we were landed with to make some agents very rich, around the same time. I was just thinking of those players we've had that have been useless.

    Steele

    Orr Peacock Greer Berner

     Goulon Lowe Williamson

    Ward  Brown  Modeste

    Subs

    Fettis

    Dailly

    Greer

    Akpan

    Koita

    Treacy

  6. Great post. Not saying this isn't worrying for lots of people. But you cannot deny that this is not panic fueled by the media. PEople like that idiot Piers Moron whipping everyone to a panic whilst hiding behind his keyboard. 28,000 people died in 2015 from various types of flu in the Uk. Hundreds if people in the Uk died of H1N1 or swine flu. Difference is now we have a society obsessed by social media and 24hr news blasting us with negative sound bites every second. Funny how all the protests in Hong Kong have been dispersed now. What a great way of stopping dissent. Also the one way to get rid of Trump was to smash the US economy. This is a horrible situation but it has been hijacked and used for media and political agendas around the world and we all suffer. That'll be it for football for months too. In the words of Parker on Friends, 'what a time to be alive!'

Well lets just give up now and talk of nothing else. It's a football message board. Course it's worrying but if someone wants to talk about another issue, for the sake of everyone's sanity, I say go for it. If you don't like it go off the message board and get back to tesco for some more toilet rolls.

Richard Sharpe will stick up for his mates at the club who feed him stories and make him cups of tea every Thursday pre match conference.

To be turning up two games running supposedly chasing promotion with no defenders on the bench whilst our promotion winning vastly experienced former captain sits at home collecting his wage is simply inexplicable.

You must be born yesterday if you think there isnt more to that particular story, sadly it seems the majority were born yesterday judging by the number who happily lap up the nonsense.

Absolutely spot on. And nobody asks the question. Not the LT. Not Andy Bayes or any of his mates at Radio Lancs. It is a very Venkyesque situation. Reminds me of Nelsen's injury under Kean and then he left and was straight in the Spurs squad. Fast forward eight years.

  9. We never win after going behind because the team has no bottle. The same reason why we never take advantage of other teams slipping up. The same reason why we let leads slip on a regular basis. Drawing after being 2-0 up at Brentford was unforgivable. Then following it with two draws in winnable home games was pathetic. No character and no bottle. It also shows how ineffective Mowbray is at changing the game with subs. So boring and so predictable.

  10. We had eight days preparation for this game. Derby had two. It is a disgrace how you can turn up to the biggest game of the season, another chance to get into the top six, what an incentive, and turn in such a dire, insipid performance. The away fans should be refunded. Why would you play that team and expect anything? Clearly Mulgrew has a contract clause activated with one more appearance otherwise he'd be in. Says everything about our small time operation. How many penalties is Bennett going to concede this season? How many have we conceded. Must be a lot.
