We’re definitely in a better place than we were when GB and JDT came into the club. On first glance the signings look decent and more importantly aligned with the vision and what the manager wants. Time will tell us if they are any good.
The real positivity for me is the environment that they have created for the players. The emergence of Phillips, Wharton, Garrett and Vale along with the re-emergence of the likes of Dack, Markanday, Hedges and Carter (from injuries and loans etc) are no surprise when you have positive, vibrant people at the top.
The club (Venkys) have backed our new management team with cash and oddly enough, I have a suspicion that the last two (Hirst & Mole) may end up as the real winners of the window. The option to buy could be a master stroke.
Im looking forwards to getting behind the team and the management on Saturday and for the coming months.

I definitely prefer to keep him.
I think most of our fans do too, we just don’t want to see him walk, Ala, Nyambe, Rothwell, LenihanI don’t think we miss Lenihan, Nyambe or Rothwell tbh. So, whilst I want us to fix this long term, I’d be REALLY scared of losing BBD tonight. Even IF we sign Dembele AND Maja or Hugill etc

Let’s say we sold him for 12M today and the owners took back 7M, leaving us 5M.
Do you expect we will have 5M to replace BBD specifically come Summer next year? Not a 5M budget, I mean 5M for one player.
I’m not sure Josh. But my point still stands…a fully fit BBD is the best option we (as fans) can have. Selling him on the last day, even if we sign two CLASS players will weaken us (at least in the short term until those players settle in.
-
I don’t understand those fans who are today upset that we’ve not sold BBD. Sure, if the offer comes in May and the lad isn’t signing a new deal then I’d be all for a sale with time to reinvest and replace….BUT in what world does selling him today benefit us (the fans) or even the manager? The chances of us replacing his goals at this stage are close to zero.
The ONLY people who stand to benefit from a sale today are our owners and they obviously don’t care about the money.
So I will be DELIGHTED if we keep him and if you offered me Dembele (who I rate highly) I’d still prefer BBD who I’m confident will get another 15 goals at least this season.

Rich Sharpe says we aren't looking to sign Styles;
Sorry to disappoint those who would like to see him at Ewood Park, but as things stand, Rovers aren’t in the running to sign Barnsley’s Callum Styles.Rovers looked at Styles in January, as they did his then team-mate Callum Brittain who moved to Ewood Park earlier in this window.
There has been talk throughout the window of a follow-up move for Styles as well, but it’s one that Rovers have continued to pour cold water on and that remains the case on deadline day.
There is a chance that Styles could move elsewhere, with teams in the Championship and overseas said to be looking at the 24-year-old.
Styles has played at left wing-back, but more recently in midfield, an area of the pitch which Rovers feel they are well stocked.
I think the emergence of Wharton has poured cold water over any desire we had for Styles.
Similarly, I think the emergence of Phillips has removed our need for another CB?
The weirdest thing about today is that I have no idea which players or even positions we’ll fill!?
My guess - Foreign RB and a winger 🤷🏽♂️

Old 1st/2nd division to be fair, like Rovers. The likes of Brentford, Bournemouth and Watford are tinpot
Re Brereton Rovers should tell interested clubs it's too late in this window unless they come up with £25m cash only, money in the bank by 5pm
I think Rovers regard the Leicester lad as Brereton's replacement so I don't expect another striker to arrive in any case
Liked the look of Bowler tonight, wouldn't mind him at all
Bearing in mind our DoF has openly said Hirst was our first choice striker target this summer (So we’ve been trailing him for months) plus the fact that he doesn’t play off the left and the manager has also said we have separate plans made in the case that BBD leaves….I think it’s pretty obvious that Hirst isn’t his replacement.

To balance that up, most of us wrote Gallagher off before he arrived and he is still fuckin useless
So you are entitled to have an opinion on a player and sometimes it is wrong and sometimes it is right
Yeah, and both scenarios show us that it’s a lottery as to whether they’ll come good or not.
Which just strengthens the notion, especially in this case that the best thing to do is give the boy a chance. I’ll bet 99% of the people passing judgement have literally never seen him play. It’s crazy to be writing him off.

How on earth can you know that?
IF Hirst comes in, scores 30 goals, gets us promoted and gets two hattricks against the dingles, still "Never worth 5 million"?
(Obviously I'm aware that is unlikely to happen before anyone starts)
Astounded people are confident in saying he DEFINITELY won't be worth £5m no matter what he does for us.
Bearing in mind most of us wrote off BBD as a bad un before he became fuckin excellent, I’m equally astounded mate. Never learn!

Looking at the videos of his goals Hirst certainly likes the plonked on his head from wide positions. The problem is who in our team is good at delivering crosses?
Bowler and Birmancevic….👀🤞🏽

I can see the need for 2 CB's, but not 3 unless Ayala has pre-booked some sick leave 🙂 I'm not sure JDT likes 3 at the back if he can help it.
My guess is Hyam, SVDB, Hirst and Birmancevic (when BBD goes). Styles the icing on the cake 👍🏼

Someone said Caulker to Rovers was 'done'.
Hopefully Hyam gets done.
Likely that we’ve turned him down mate. Deal was there to be done if we wanted it….two out of Hyam, Caulker, SVDB and now JPvH. My guess is that Hyam IS done and Neil going to Stoke means that JP and / Or SVDB on loan are now favoured.

If BBD goes (he’s playing like someone who wants to) on I think we’ll sign one perm and one loan forward, on top of the pending 3 this week.

Thanks, so basically 13 shots on target in 6 games?
This is the most worrying thing for me, we are creating nothing, not working the opposition with meaningful shots, and had we not scored with nearly every shot on target in those first three games, JDT reign would likely of been less than Bergs.
Like his honesty, the things he says, but the football needs to improve massively
The worrying thing Glen is how much more do you think he’ll get outta this group?

Time to gather my thoughts…firstly, there was a plan and I can accept it. It was to unsettle their giant defenders with quick accurate passing through the lines….the manager was BADLY let down in the first half. Buckley, Travis and JRC were horrific. People know I’m Buckley’s biggest fan but his head is somewhere else at the moment and that is the third game in a row that he’s been woeful.
I felt sorry for Dack, Dolan and even Szmodics who were never even allowed to get into the game so bad was the passing around them.
Ayala, Phillips, Pickering and Hedges came out with lots of credit.
Morton (my MOM) and Adam Wharton were very good. The latter completely controlling the game for spells. He’s a special player in the making.
Kaminski at fault for the goal and the ref blew up twice for free kicks on the edge of the box which ran for us and we scored. Just wasn’t our day.

12 out 3 in is misleading.
We lost:
JP Van Hecke
Ryan Nyambe
Darragh Lenihan
Ryan Giles
Zeefuik
Brad Johnson
Joe Rothwell
Reda Khadra
That's 8 players
These players left
Jacob Davenport - never played even when the squad was stretched beyond beleif
Ian Poveda - injured all season
Harry Chapman - never played
Tyler Magloire - never played and I've seen people say they'd rather play with 10
James Brown - one game in a dead rubber match
That's 5 players that have left with no negative impact on squad strength imo
We've brought in, or now have as options
Brittan
Smod
Morton
Carter
Phillips
Wharton
Garret
Vale
Markanday
That's more like 8 out 8 / 9 in. 3 or 4 quality additions over the next week and I'd say we've plugged the gaps. I didn't expect much more from the window there was a lot to do to make this a JDT squad. When he arrived the squad had loads of gaps to fill, I think it was a big ask to fill those gaps AND upgrade the players we did have to the high pressing high energy type player. Too much to do in one window especially when we've got a new structure starting from a standing start several weeks behind the other clubs.
I know we'd all like it done in one window but maybe it might take more than one window? TM and Co have poisoned words such as 'project' and 'journey' and I'm not advocating another 5 year build to nothing but there's surely some middle ground between that and expecting an instant overhaul and promotion within 12 months. TM left the squad in a state, I was resigned (but not happy about) us having a midtable finish. Anything else would be a bonus.
You win the internet today sir! Nail. On. Head.

If Philips becomes one of our best players in 18 months that's as long as we'll have him. The same goes for any player we have who is outstanding, like Brereton. The idea that we'll gradually build up a team of youngsters to adult stars is just a dream I'm afraid.
Who said the idea was that we’ll ‘gradually build up a team youngsters to adult stars’? I certainly didn’t!

Hedges really is a new signing since tm never really knew how to play him. Plus he is, in my opinion, doing well so far. And was a huge absence during the recent losses
So is Markanday and so is Dack considering he hasn’t played for two years!

I can’t call the team today…too many different options available. I think Dack and Morton deserve a start, but that will likely depend on how fit Hedges is to start and whether or not he’s willing to drop Buckley (who I think has started the season badly).
Will BBD be available? I think so…has Markanday done enough? Will Phillips or Carter start? Pickering or Edun?
My team, if I were picking….
kaminski
Brittain Carter Ayala Edun
Trav Morton
Hedges Dack BBD
Gally

Assuming Brittain, Ayala, Gally still out and Wharton not fully fit to start. I’m going the same again with Hirst for Dolan.
Kaminski
Trav Carter Hyam. Pickering
Morton A.Wharton
Hedges Dack Brereton-Diaz
Hirst
Subs - Pears, Wharton, Edun, Buckley, Szmodics, Dolan, Markanday
Interestingly, Travis played a lot of his younger years pre first team as a RB and RWB for Rovers. Could be a good option.
Also, in spite of their tender years, both Morton and A.Wharton don’t mind a tackle!! They break up play really well.
