  1. Anyone else think that as exciting as this WC has been the actual quality of the teams is very average. I think our '98 team would comfortably beat our current one. Ditto France, Brazil etc etc

Anyway we' ll get beat tonight. Colombia's forwards will be a bit too much for our porous defence. Thankfully my predictions are shit.

Athletic? Nah. If you have the talent you don't need the muscles.  Modric is phenomenal - yet physically is built like your nan.

That said, Tomlinson is nowhere near that level?

Mowbray sId he was after young athletic players. The 2 signings so far seem to fit that bill. Athletic doesn't have to mean muscular. Modric is wiry and strong.

Might turn out to be a very good signing in the fullness of time but It's more a case of pulling a rabbit out of the hat on the cheap than evidence we have much to spend.

You'll say this every time we sign someone. You have to cos you've backed yourself into a corner with your grumbling about us having no money.

Wonder if Mowbray is looking st something like:

    ---------------------------Raya

    ------------Lenihan Mulgrew Williams

    Nyambe---------------------------------------------Bell

    -------Rothwell  Smallwood  Davenport

    ---------------------------Dack

    -------------------------Graham

    Just throwing it out there...

Very possible but then why would he be after wingers? Think it will be similar set-up to last season. Either way he has to be flexible if the results aren't happening. Different division different challenge. I doubt teams will put 10 in defence against us this season like they did  in Lg1.

  5. What's not to like? A highly rated CM who Pep liked and who has the potential to get much better. Sounds like a similar player to Whittingham, a genuine playmaker who can make a team tick.

I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing the young team Mowbray is building.

Can see why he was signed...

There are always different levels of ability but if we could have Jacob in every player we'd be really happy because of all the little bits: his timekeeping, putting the team first, his attitude to education even if he doesn't like every aspect of it, he never disrespects anybody, he's hardworking every day in training and games.

"He's one of those players that will never have any regrets because whatever level he reaches, he gives his all every day."

    Where is that from?

Danny Green ?    Sounds like a character off Football Factory or something, is he a proper in the know geezer then ?

There was a character called Danny Green in Grange Hill in the 80's. He was  a good footballer, a Grange Hill galactico if you will. So it follows the info might be legit.

    Get excited. It's the future.

I would have thought the entry fee for Blues was originally designed to keep demand under control when there were more competing Pubs nearby rather than be a Revenue raiser per se.

The decision to raise the entry fee to £2.60 seems a bit ridiculous to me, the increase in Revenue is neither her nor there at the end of the day and £3 and getting some shrapnel back in your pocket is vastly different to £1.

On the other hand I can't for the life of me understand why people moan about the 1875 membership. Even at £10 I still think It's exceptional value, you get £5 cash back in the Club shop immediately and £2 or £3 off every time you purchase a match day ticket.

The extra match day charge I have no real view on one way or the other. If you know in advance It's going to be more if you leave it until the last minute I'm not sure how you can complain and if you really want to go but can't commit until the last minute because You're not sure what else you've got on I can't see that paying a bit more would necessarily put you off.

It's still a quid to get into Blues.

Started with three at the back at Southend, home to Doncaster and at Charlton and lost all three. That's 60% of the games we lost. The vast majority of games we won last season were with a back four - fact.

Home to Barnet as well iirc until we had to change it at half time because we were getting humiliated by the team bottom of Div 4.

With that one goal, even if it is an own-goal,  this game already seems to be over with.

Russia, like Canada, ice hockey powers. I wonder why it doesn't translate into better national football teams with that kind of a talent pool.

This seems a physically very strong Russia team. Iniesta was dropped for a reason.
