What's so exciting about cunningham? He just seems like another mediocre championship squad player, which is fine if not getting relegated and possibly finishing  mid table again is this seasons only aim and objective

Literally haven’t heard one person say he would be a bad signing.

Genuinely Raya isn't fit to tie Friedel's shoes as a keeper.

If they offer a decent fee I think we can replace him without much bother.

Yes, but we’re not going to sign Friedel (or someone of an equivalent standard) to replace him.

I can honestly see us starting with Leutwiller for the first game of the season.

he was on loan i think at a quatar club? unsure but i know he scored like 5 in 7 games or something, i know the leagues not exactly up to the standard over here but im sure he could still do a job here, he has a decent presence about him, strong on and off the ball and an intelligent player and if we get him playing again could be an assett

No doubt he’s a solid player, I remember my stoke supporting mate saying he had one of the first worst touches he’d seen. But I do think he would provide something quite different to the current strike force in terms of athleticism.

He has an impressive scoring records in some good leagues - Ereverdisie and the prem - so probably worth a punt if not too expensive. Which I would have thought he would be

so is this the summer transfer window thread or some sort of lets compare previous fecking managers and players?

il edit and say anyone here think taking a punt on bony? striker is 30 years of age and has a wealth of experience! although wages might be high but it could be a decent gamble he knows where the goal is

Does he have the drive anymore? Seems like after his move to city he’s sort of faded away

Abraham is only a loan. Won't be too expensive. I don't think their net spending is all that? Can't say I've followed them too closely though.

They were having to cut back on spending at the start of this window due to FFP before the new investors came in. They don’t seem to have any significant sales. Plus Abraham will cost a bomb with the loan fee and wages! The loan fee for Sam Gallagher put off most clubs so imagine what it’s like for Abraham

I'm pretty sure Pulis had Puncheon for luncheon at Palace. If that deal comes off, I'm sure Chapman knows he'd get far more game time with us than up at 'Boro. I reckon he'd also love to come back. A loan deal would be no skin off anyone's back.

Remember Mowbray saying that Chapman was ‘desperate’ to come back at the start of the window

Before his injuries it was plain to see. Has anyone seen him play since.? Pulis will certainly have seen him so perhaps that’s what he's basing his comments on.

Seen some snippets of him playing preseason for Boro and tearing it up. Didn’t look like it had affected him mentally.

Pulis' comments about Chapman are weird, he says in one breath that they think highly of him yet in the next he talks of needing pace out wide! Bizarre and not exactly complimentary toward Chapman

Very strange comments, whilst his defensive qualities may be questionable his attacking threats and pace are plain to see.

The only reason i, and many others expected more is because the main people (Mowbray, Waggott) have banged on at every opportunity about this competitive budget to bring cash buys in, and wanting at least 4 more in after Armstrong. Waggot himself said that our signings would push ST sales to there targets!

If they had come out and said nothing, i'd be prett content at what we have done.

For a while on here a few have tried to blame "the fans" for various things, this being another because some are being "unrealistic'. This competitive budget hasn't been made up by the fans.

Yeah the openness of Mowbray and Waggott about how many/when we were going to get them/how much money we had was the negative side of this window as it meant that our expectations were elevated.

I would assume that most people would have been fairly happy with spending 2-3 million in transfer fees in a window on 5 players so far at the start of the window. It is only because we've been told (by the media) that we have lodged bids with a lot of money that people are fussing. And if Brereton happens, which I have a good feeling it will do, we'll not only have spent around 10 million (presumably) we'll have assembled a very competitive squad.

What i find disappointing/baffling is that with a week to go until the (second) deadline is that we haven't signed one player who can come straight into the first eleven and improve our team since the final day of last season.

Promising starts from Rothwell & Palmer but the jury is still out on both of them for me.

I'm all for a bit of loyalty for the players that got us back up, but you coukd argue that half of that side were in part responsible of taking us down in the first place.

You have to improve on what you have every summer or you will end up going backwards again, even more so if you are playing at a higher level.

For me, upgrades on Smallwood and Graham (dont get me wrong both still important squad members) were the first pieces of business we should have been doing as soon as we knew promotion was secured, followed by some much needed pace out wide and goalkeeper to push Raya.

The fact we're still scrapping around free agents like Rodwell and loans, that dont even have an obligation to buy like Reed in the final week speaks volumes to me, i honestly think we have all been lead right up the garden path with this competitive budget nonesense.

I think Mowbray has been brilliant for us but if all we end up with in this window is Rodwell, Reed & and whoever that QPR striker is then questions have to be asked of him and whatever this "new" recruitment policy is. Saying blindly "in Tony we trust" wont just cut it for me.

    7 days to go.

Long term contracts for Lenihan, Dack, Williams and Smallwood. Rothwell, Davenport, Palmer, Armstrong, Rodwell. Plus still a week left of the window. I'd say he's bought Palmer, Rothwell and Palmer that improve the starting 11, the rest are good squad fillers. Really don't see what everyone is losing their heads about.

    So:

Rodwell on a free to cover at CB

    Reed on loan at CM

Brereton for ungodly amount of money

    Winger to be named later

    What is everyone whining about?

Summed up perfectly. If those four players come in we'll have brought in 8 players, of which only two will be proper loans.
