Let’s not start bragging just yet, BD.
At £1.25m I’d have been delighted. At £1.75m (all up), still a great bit of business. £3m is big coin for us these days and his best football has been played in a lower division.
But let’s just hold of the “a lot on here” smugness until he has played the game just before his number of appearances qualifies us to pay one of those add-ons and hope he doesn’t get a sudden injury.
Suppose it depends on how realistic the add-ons are. Could be things like if he plays in the premier league or gets nominated for the ballon d’or.

If Mowbray was bluffing that’s such a clever move from him, well played.

At that price I think he is a really good signing

He’s said it too confidently to be wrong I would have thought.

Nsiala and Nolan both hand in transfer requests at Shrewsbury, after a championship club has had a bid turned down. Could it be us? Probably Ipswich I’d imagine.
No it’s definitely Ipswich, apparently Paul Hurst texted them

Think that had a lot to do with the type of players brought in and the inept manager we had. Huddersfield loaned Izzy Brown and Palmer and got promoted.
And mooy, who was basically the reason they got promoted

Bristol city after Maenpaa from Brighton might open the door for frank fielding to rovers?

Gallagher wouldn't be my first choice, but didn't he score something like 11 goals when he came here on loan, bearing in mind this was under Owen Coyle i'd say that isn't a bad return for a young lad. But again would hope he would be from the C or D list, and hopefully Mowbray is aiming higher.

The way I see it is that we’re replacing Payne, Chapman and Armstrong from the league one squad. Palmer has come in as an upgrade on Payne (hopefully), and I think Mowbray is trying to do the same with Chapman and Armstrong. Personally I think there are better players out there than Chapman and Armstrong, but would obviously welcome them back.

Think so, but we could never afford those wages which was the reason he couldn't agree a new contract. Far too good for Championship so I reckon he will have a payday in China or somewhere exotic.
He’s only 26 though would he go to China now? Be a great signing that but obviously very doubtful

Is Abel Hernandez still available?

I think they're playing with us

Funny window. It appears that Palmer from Chelsea and Nmecha from City are far better than what we could afford to buy. So what to do? Should we sign less good players just to call them our own? The reviews of these two guys is as good as I have heard about any players going to the championship
Probably going to end up signing Bauer and spending the rest on a striker. I'm guessing that Mowbray wants a more out and out striker than Armstrong, maybe someone more physical. I like Armstrong personally, so would be ahooy if we sign him. I just have a feeling Mowbray isn't at the price quoted.
Loan signings are a good way of getting better players than you have currently, and in previous years where we have had a very unstable team in terms of having to replace most of the players from the previous years it can be destabilising to rely upon loans.
Loan signings mixed in with a strong core of players and some encouraging, cheaper buys are perfect for trying to establish back in the championship.
As for signing Bauer if the funds are available and it doesn’t compromise signing a striker then go for it I would say.

Everton game shows our starting lineup is good enough for the championship. Stanley game shows our strength in depth isn’t up to the standard.
If no one comes in that is at least bench standard, then we will struggle if we get injuries.

Ings would be an outrageous signing but absolutely no chance

May only be a loan if we sign Palmer, but it does prove how much more professional Rovers are going about their transfer business now. Nobody knew we were (hopefully) on the verge of signing him, and that’s the way it should be.
Thursday deadline.
