  1. From an objective standpoint, Kaminski should have been sent off. When a defender is 'the last man', there is still a keeper in goal (1 person). Having another defender next to the foul (2 people) usually makes it a booking. This time, there was just the accompanying defender (1 person who couldn't use his hands to save a shot). Obvious red.

1-1 is a terrible score. Another game gone when we need a win to save ourselves but not a thrashing to see Mowbray gone. Meh...

  2. In attack we are much more creative and can get the ball into the box from midfield with little fuss. Very enjoyable. We seem to turn possession into chances very quickly.

I thought it was striking that our main weakness was losing the ball when the full back was pushed way too far up the pitch. Both goals came from the gaping hole that the LB left. We also seem very keen to take short set pieces to the point that the Everton commentators straight up laughed at how badly wasted one free kick was.

Because our owners dont give a flying fuck about the club, as has been proven right throughout their time owning us.

He isnt as bad as Coyle or indeed Kean either. We are going backwards, he has long since overstayed his welcome, but he isnt as bad as those 2 and will have to do a lot to get to that stage.

He wasn't as bad as Coyle. Isn't though? I'm not sure (see above post for some thoughts)...

  4. We have always said that he'll never be as bad as Kean or Coyle and this has been taken as fact. I think it is time to actually compare.

    Compared to Kean:

    1. No drink-driving lies or agent interference (known that is).

    2. Players with family connections signed who are objectively not good enough (Myles Anderson / Aynsley Pears).

    3. Results of the team are now worse than at any point then.

    4. Odd (ludicrous) statements in the press which seem to defy logic.

    5. Mowbray does have a managerial record of some sorts before taking over.

So he's not quite as bad (from a criminal standpoint if nothing else) but it is far closer than you'd at first think.

    Compared to Coyle:

    1. Previous promotion (Coyle with Burnley, Mowbray with West Brom).

    2. Tumbling down the league without any seeming halt.

    3. No link to Burnley I suppose.

    4. Promotion from League 1 (we cannot know if Coyle would have done the same or not).

I would say that he is on a par with Coyle for utter hopelessness but has the potential to get worse if he keeps up this arrogant 'journey' nonsense. Again, it's worrying how he seems to be in company with the worst managers in our history when you ignore emotion.

  5. This is true and why nothing will happen. I can't help but think the readership might actually go up if he becomes a muckraking journalist trying to uncover stuff rather than reprinting club comments. I know I would find it a lot more interesting for one.

Too much of a risk for them as you say.

People who write 'of' instead of 'have'.

Children who I spent a year talking about my own personal Room 101 with. This, adjectives used as adverbs (the lad did good) and mayonnaise. Walked out the SATs room. I smiled and asked them about Room 101. What did I hate (knowing wink about Question 3)? Mayonnaise they all chanted.

WAS THAT A QUESTION IN YOUR SODDING SATS? NO? I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT ELSE I TALKED ABOUT...

I loved them all dearly to be fair. They were my favourite bunch ever.

  7. I thought I would start a thread to let people let off some steam. Anything that isn't too serious. No Venkys or government here.

I wanted to post this earlier in another thread but for the love of God...

    1. 'We was' and 'it were' are wrong. Children aged 7 can see they're wrong. Adults should be able to.

    2. Pundits using the present tense for things that happened in the past or haven't happened yet. LISTEN MORONS! "If he HAD GOT it on target it WOULD HAVE BEEN a goal." This makes sense because it's in English!

    3. Your = Belonging to you          You're = You are

That'll do for the moment until some other cretin annoys me with a basic lack of education. Wait. Actually..

    4. Morrisons staff should blooming well fry their doughnuts for longer they're supposed to be a little crispy on the outside not sugary bread!

    5. Irritated that I used two main clauses in 4. but didn't put punctuation in. Sod it! ...longer. They're...

When I was on the Forum strictly football related matters were off the agenda.

However if we're talking about how to shift the maximum number of season tickets which is a legitimate topic for the FF to discuss, I can't see how you can do that properly without referring to the managerial situation in passing.

The obvious answer to that is:

    "Change the agenda!"

Off the record or not, there is no point having communication with the club if things like the current fiasco are not addressed and they get to waste time chatting about the tastiest pie or the music selection in the ground.

If such things are not answered adequately, the Fans Forum should explain that they will go straight to the Telegraph and ask for Rich Sharpe to do a back page detailing the contempt Rovers have for their fans. See what that might do to income. That seems a limp threat as it is unlikely to actually happen but I dare say the idea of more chickens on the pitch, stories on Granada tonight etc. might just wake some people up and result in a memo being passed up the food chain to Pasha.

    Make them squirm!

  9. The one thing that stands out was the desire to gloss over a VERY poor season and blame it all on a poor pitch. The implication was that Waggott was in with Mowbray rather than his boss (as we suspected). Sack talk was in the context of the owners not him when it really should be his job at any normal club.

Also, almost every item was "...when we know the finances..." not "It is sorted. The work is going on now."

In short, nothing we didn't already know.

  10. A major improvement to me was that Dolan's immediate instinct was to link with others when playing Armstrong's role as opposed to always going on a run then shooting. It enabled Gallagher, Dack and (to a lesser extent) Brereton to get far more involved and we looked far more threatening as a result.

Also, JRC looked far more secure as an out-and-out right back compared to Nyambe. Although he was not seemingly under orders to get down the wing, he set himself up nearer to the touch line and had less ground to cover to stop crosses. At the end, Nyambe played on the edge of the area and could not contain them as easily.

  11. One half of this post enthuses me. Guess which half...

I remember having a disagreement with my Liverpudlian supervisor about the currant content of teacakes. I had an ally in a lass from Bradford who pointed out that, yes, currant teacakes have currants in them whilst teacakes have bacon in them (God I love that woman).

As to that shower, I feel nothing. Don't even slightly care about it. Raging about the pitch in Ahmedabad and the pathetic attempts to bat on it. Raging about the ref in Cardiff. Rovers though, I just don't care any more. Damning.

  12. One thing that struck me today was the paradoxical viewpoint that a win today 'should the shut the moaners up'. The idea that one win will reverse an entire season of dismal play and we will be right back amongst the greatest teams in the league.

Why should those who disapprove of Mowbray change their minds after one game if the reverse doesn't follow? Surely that means one defeat would mean Mowbray should be sacked (obviously ridiculous for those struggling to see the point).

There are those who believe in backing the manager whatever because he is the manager. Fair enough if that is your wish. There are those who believe recent results have gone too badly and they can no longer support him. Fair enough. There are those who made their mind up last season or the season before that W1 L1 D1 football was not good enough for their club. Fair enough.

Can we all just agree that arguments between fans over football matters are not unique to Rovers and we should not be ashamed or labelled morons for holding opinions about a hobby.

Personally, I can see a comfortable 3-1 win (Armstrong x 2, Elliott) and bitter resentment online later as one side throws pelters at the other in an orgy of "I told you so!"

Think we might just pull this one out of the fire!

Great finish from Harvey but woeful Watford mistake.

Cheap (price), cheerful and decent wine (ideal for watching Rovers when depressed) - try the Coop's Casablanca Pinot Noir at about £7.

Am partial to Portuguese reds so Lisboa from Sainsbury's at £7.

"This deeply coloured and boldly flavoured red caresses the palate with red and black fruit notes and a spicy depth."

    This means it tastes nice...

If this ‘statement’ tells me the sky is blue I think I’ll still have to poke my head outside to check.

Well, actually the sky is usually a dull grey colour. Those who moan about the weather are told that "That's not what our sky is." and it was very blue earlier in the season. If we are patient it'll be blue again and grey will never return ever again. It will be the bluest blue for an extended period with no chance of drizzle.

There are only two ways Mowbray goes. First that he chucks in the towel and walks. Highly unlikely unless we go on a run of unprecedented bad results like Coventry did in 2016. With this squad of players that isn't going to happen. Mowbray has everything here set up in his favour. It might be a different story if there were interfering owners or directors making him squirm but no such prospect here.

The other way is if Pasha applies pressure in India for a change. Not likely. It took 6 months of unrest and poor results before someone did something about Coyle. Mowbray will have a lot more credit in the bank than that.

The key will be when it is season ticket renewal time. Without changes they will collapse through the floor and maybe, just maybe, the owners will take notice at that point.

Possibly but not so sure about that myself. Missing going trumps being miserable whilst I'm there for me. I miss the bacon cheeseburger from the van behind the club shop. I miss staring at the terrible resolution of the screen in the 'fanzone'. I miss sitting people watching as fans stream in and players warm up. I miss it all.

I didn't get a season ticket this year (someone else did so we already have the ifollow) but will next year as I miss watching in person. This will be the case whoever is in charge or what division we are in no matter how low we fall as long as I am physically able to attend. This feeling concerns me as it always helps the duffers to gloss over things. No matter how bad it gets, you'll never get REAL boycotts that would actually make a difference.

I think the only thing which has a chance of working is your Option 2. Another month of mostly losses might do it or perhaps the summer if he has the nerve to ask for millions more money.

A small selection of the merchandise available at roversradio.co.uk

Great range of t shirts. I would question only one thing. For a group so opposed to a £3 walk-on, it seems a bit off to go from stating £22 on the site (would buy this absolutely with a bit of P&P) to £32.40 at checkout (VAT added after postage at the point of delivery address) for one t shirt. VERY expensive. We can't criticise Rovers for not reducing prices across the board but ignore it for those we admire I'm afraid.

I had an argument with that callum at the start of the season where he initially said anyone not buying a season ticket isn't a proper fan, then when prices were released he claimed they were too expensive and thus wasn't going to buy one. Absolute muppet

If the last year has taught me anything, it's that there are a lot of people to whom 'logic' is some fashion brand. No amount of reasoned argument will ever convince such a creature to change an opinion. The 'others' are wrong and the devil incarnate whereas my side is the one true good. Whether it's 'true fan' arguments, Lab/Con or Rep/Dem, the divides seem to be getting wider.

I have no doubt that this fellow would be the sort who'd swear in front of kids on away days or delay the coach by queuing up for McDonalds on a toilet stop.
