Well that was predictable.  Lack of wingers a glaring weakness.  Subs were wrong. Downing's set pieces were dire.  Mulgrew way better with a dead ball.  We are paying him enough, he should at least be on the bench.  How many direct feeekicks we scored this year?

We simply arent  capable of getting in the playoffs.

Who you dropping to bring Mulgrew on? He’s done his bit for us but set pieces alone don’t warrant him in our team.

Honestly can’t complain about the result today and thought we played about as well I could’ve hoped. Was ashame their goal came when it did as we looked to have weathered the storm well and could see out the game. Came from absolutely nothing. Their pen wasn’t a pen but Johnson shouldn’t have gave the ref the option. Up until then I felt we got the majority of the refs decisions who I thought was shocking to both throughout.

Thought travis was immense, has became a very important player for us. Walton and nyambe were also very good. Armstrong took his goals well but I still think he needs to lift his head at times - evident in his one v one , not looking for the correct side of the keeper. But happy with his progress.

very few negatives but thought downing was poor, even right at the death he had the opportunity to fire a corner in and instead lofted it to the edge of their box which nearly set them on a breakaway.

johnson was the player I hoped we had signed but as mentioned rash on the pen and was a bit overly dirty at times.

buckley- still to make my mind up if I like him or not to be honest. Neat and tidy but needs to show a bit more.

though gallagher looked decent when he came on, relieved some pressure from our box and was unlucky with a run into theirs.

im not as confident as most against stoke and Swansea but if we can take 6 points from them, it’s game on

Great summary of the game. With Buckley, he was a lamb to slaughter on the right and glad we noticed it and put him in a bit. He’s very very good on the ball, this is a tough league for his physique but he’s gonna be a great player for us and only get better.

On a side note of someone saying Brentford didn’t like our time wasting, nothing took longer all game then their corners. The guy took an age to everyone of them, and when he got subbed his replacement did the same.

Still don’t see what their issue with ref was but guess I see it from a different point of view.

I am very very pleased with what TM is doing at Rovers. We are a very tough side to play against. We look so solid even when being battered by one of the best teams in the division. A big improvement to Brentford away last season.

Good point today. Full of confidence for the rest of the season.

A point I made the other week, there’s a few sides above us who have been battered and lost by 3+ goals this season, and I just don’t see that happening to us which is a credit to the side.

A very good away point. Losing a 2-0 lead would be galling in other circumstances but Brentford were always in it and when it got to 2-2 it looked like only going one way. We scored out of nothing in the first half and Brentford tore us to shreds at times. Got to be happy with a point out of that. Very few teams will go there and win.
Our season will not be defined by today. The next week will tell us a lot.

Agreed. I felt we would need to score at least 2 not to lose today, in what ever order they came.

  5. Just got back from our final trip to Griffin Park (unless play offs!) and though I had a face like a slapped arse when they equalised, I’d take a point at the start.

Very sloppy on the ball for much of it but once we went 2-0 up it looked like Brentford were done and our confidence shot up, shame they scored such a good goal when they did.

Thats the tough one out the way, huge week ahead.

Let’s not get too carried away mate, we failed against Fulham , got past a very weak hull team but today was a good result. I found his interview very unambitious however, almost as if he doesn’t want promotion hmm

I rarely listen to him as it’s same old lines usually, never expect anything of value from a post match or pre match interview.

Yes Hull were crap, but we put them away 3-0, just think Swansea let them score 4 times Friday! 4 times! Didn’t watch it, but that’s abysmal

We did when Ell and Del were in the back 4...Mowbray has reluctantly picked the right defence and he should have done it months ago. We could be top 2 by now. Mowbray out!

Reluctant? Williams played due to injuries.  Elliott i agree should never of been right back.

Admire your ambition, but realistically where Mowbray took us from league one to feel hard we should be top 2 other Leeds and WBA is off the mark.

Whats with this anti Mowbray agenda? Clearly building a good side that’s playing well with limited resources. Unless there’s some amazing manager out there you know that’s gonna take over this team and get us over the line then I think you should abort Mowbray out and get behind our club.

Just about today is it ?

No, it’s about 11 clean sheets. Granted Nyambe should of been in side sooner. Jury is out on Bell but Cunningham plugged that gap and injury is out of our control.

I know Johnson has his critics and I don’t see every game, but the ones I have he adds a presence to us I feel we been missing for a long time.

A lot of pleasing things to take from today’s day out . Slightly frustrating to think of the money on the bench that could have been spent on defenders when we had dom

Yeah as I stood there 2-0 up with another clean sheet in the bag I thought to myself if only we could bring on another defender.

Great result today, pretty poor after match interview, basically saying don’t get excited we have injury concerns so we probably won’t make it

Standard comment from Klopp to Mowbray that.

When he was saying bare with him he’s changing our style of play, which is now working hence our league position and form (I know you don’t like form tables) no one listened to him.

He really is doing a great job for us, and I’m glad to fans at the games agree and sing his name.

  11. What a day! Soaked having a beer at half time but won’t ruin the day.

Walton superb and another clean sheet for a settler defence.

Johnson and Travis doing their job perfectly. Buckley a great addition as someone with nice touches and good on the turn with the ball.

    Another 3 points! Loving it.

He cant take credit for successes and be absolved of blame for the expensive failures because the idea was right. Johnson cant be argued as a success either, hes had a couple of good games but in the main hes been a massive dissapointment hence the reason that he has played so infrequently in the last 2 or 3 months. Cunningham I think would have been a success but unfortunately the injury came before he was able to have enough of a meaningful impact to be considered one. Armstrong last season was pretty dissapointing but hes doing enough now to be filed as a success, next step is to start scoring more scruffy goals go boost his numbers. Dack, Tosin, Downing all certain successes too.

Regarding the youngsters hes done a good job bringing through, he deserves loads of credit for the unequivocial success that is Lewis Travis, but Rankin Costello has only ever had 2 cameos and Buckley has not impressed at all so lets not prematurely put them into the successes just yet.

Its a really weird one, its just as easy to point to some of his successes on the back of the promotion and argue that he has not done enough to warrant his job being strongly under threat, equally you could suggest that he has had 2 big chances of speeding up progression and wasted them, that we arent progressing quickly enough, we are inconsistent, weve never actually broke into the top 6, and theres a whiff of stagnation and a change would be the best way forwsrd.

Great points. I consider Johnson a success because he’s better then Smallwood. With out doubt he’s up and down, but a game like Bristol away he’s won that for us, something Smallwood wouldn’t do. If I’m Mowbray and I can buy Johnson in summer, I would of, and I’m sure we all would.

Lets just to Harrison Reid as an example, that’s who Mowbray wanted for this role, he turned us down. Can’t always get what we want.

The idea we get a new manager in and all of a sudden we will sign all these great players and be a top team is just fantasy to me. Could it happen? Yes, could it go tits up? Yes. I’d rather back then guy who has us in a better position, then when he took over, and see what happens.

    Well, we've found the flag-waver!

    I’ll take the digs.

I said after first couple games watching us against Charlton, Fulham, WBA that I had faith in this team once we got up and running. I still stand by it, I’m confident we have the team and manager to make play offs, I’m not deluded enough to guarantee it cos it’s a crazy league, but we will be there or there abouts, if not, feel free to bash me.

One thing I’ll never entertain is attacks on Mowbrays transfers. 1. I think he’s done well with Armstrong, Dack, Tosin, Cunningham, Johnson, Downing. 2. I think he’s doing a good job bringing through Travis, RC, Buckley. 3. I commend him for being able to keep Graham, Mulgrew etc when we went down when previously Venkys would of got rid, 4. I think Brereton was a disaster, and I hoped Gallagher would do better, but I also don’t lay the blame on the manager when they were clearly only given that money to buy those players on hope that we could sell them on.

So yeah, I’m waving the flag, Mowbray got us up, he stabilised us, and has us in a good position under awful ownership, the previous 5 managers were garbage, so I’m happy to continue this ride.

Happy to put hands up if goes tits up.
