It has to be the Newcastle match on BBC 1 for maximum impact. It seems like the perfect opportunity. Something peaceful, law abiding and poignant. Maybe 20 000 people clucking on 17 and 85 mins. I dare say the Newcastle fans would join in. Chicken based arm actions optional.

Love that, but can we do it on 18th and 75th minutes instead 😁.

  2. I don't see a way in which JDT stays and Rovers stay up. We're now in a desperate situation. 5 points above the drop, no sign of a winning formula against the teams in and around us. I like JDT and I think he'd would've thrived as Rovers boss if this was the John Williams era in the same way Mark Hughes did, but with the situation the club finds itself in we now need a firefighter, and I don't believe JDT is that.

  3. Absolutely nothing here suggests that the players are with JDT anymore.

    • Terrible owners sleepwalking us into oblivion.
    • Embarrassingly amateur CEO who couldn't care less about the club.
    • Inexperienced Director of Football who keeps bringing in dud loans.
    • Head Coach whose tactics have got square pegs playing in round holes to suit a style of football that just frankly isn't working with the players we have.

One of these will pay the price and JDT's head is on the block.

Our squad has been cobbled together for the rest of the season out of short term deals. With that being the case go and get a short term coach in Neil Warnock.

Moran is poor, never going to make it at Brighton, have no idea what his position is. Certainly can't rely on him in CM. Tronstad is trying to do it all himself, we look easy to play through because Moran offers us nothing in defence.

We rely need JRC in the middle, he's done well at full back but could do with his leadership, runs and physicality in there.

Moran's supposed best position is as a number 10, and he's never getting that role at Rovers. I know he wasn't great against Wrexham but surely Garrett playing in a natural midfield position is a better bet than this.

  5. Odds on Damien Johnson taking the team for tomorrow? 👀

They could've said he was ill, or they could've said he was busy working with the new signings and preparing for what is a massive game in our season. The fact that they've just said that it's a 'club decision' is worrying. It's the last thing we need right now.

  6. It definitely has a temporary and quantity over quality feel to the window. We've been severely lacking in numbers all season, so its nice for JDT to have a bit more choice. I do have concerns over some of the incomings though. Has a feel of the 2012/13 season, we had so many loans and short term signings that season, and most of them were bang average.

    • O'Riordan - Good signing, promising young player that I can see the logic of bringing in as it actually makes sense with what we've been told in regards to 'the model'. Happy with this one but not expecting him to immediately start matches.
    • Ayari - Seems to be just a squad player to pad the bench out a bit more. Not seen enough of him to judge but the obvious concern is that he is a bit lightweight and I'm not convinced he's good enough to be starting matches for us.
    • Chrisene - Similar to Ayari. I don't see this lad being a regular starter here. Squad player.
    • McFadzean - Anything more than a short term deal till the end of the season would be poor business, but I'm ok with it as it is. Will only play if its a back 3 though I imagine, so you have to think that's where we are headed.
    • Koumetio - Not a clue. His career so far suggests he's nowhere near good enough and likely to be this seasons Clinton Mola....but hey, Hertha Berlin didn't rate Chris Samba. Clearly another squad player but one that can potentially slot in on the left side of a back 3 if needed.
    • McGuire - Would've preferred a permanent deal. I just have a feeling that this lad will be decent for us and be the focal point we've been missing.
    • Fleck - On paper a good short term deal but I'm not expecting him to start much at all. An experienced head to come on and help see games out perhaps. Concerned over his recent injury record.

All of the above points towards another summer rebuild, which we've become used to by now. Of the loan or short term players we've signed, I only see McGuire staying on if Rovers can somehow do a deal with Orlando....that's obviously if he does well over here first and foremost. I expect Gallagher to also go in the summer. Does anyone know if Dolan has a 12 month extension clause? If he does then I expect that to be activated.

On paper the squad looks alright at this moment, and when I say alright...I mean good enough to stay in the league.

  7. Incredibly tough to call how this one goes, it's a must win game for both sides. I'll go for a 2-1 Rovers win.

I'm predicting a back 3 and McFadzean to come straight in alongside Hyam and Wharton, with JRC able to move further up into a more attacking role.

The left hand side will be interesting. Sigurdsson was ineffective against Wrexham, he needs to be further up the pitch. Chrisene might be preferred if its more of a LWB role.

Tronstad and Garrett in the middle picks itself by default at the moment, unless JDT wants JRC more central, in which case we'd probably be looking at Moran on the right.

Gallagher, Szmodics and Dolan as the forwards. They all played well against Wrexham, no need to change that unless there's injuries.

  8. Seeing Adam in that Palace shirt really stings, more than I thought it would. A player who probably didn't want to leave the club but has been forced to to essentially keep the lights on. I can only hope that he returns to the club at the end of his career to come full circle. One of our own and always will be.

I'm now left full of dread that we will conclude today with a badly negotiated loan deal for McGuire, this unknown Liverpool youngster on loan and no midfielder incomings. Terrible, terrible times. The club is an absolute abomination at this point.

  9. A simple protest march or gathering outside the stadium is not enough to be noticed nowadays. That kind of coverage is taken up by the likes of Man United protesting against the Glazers. Regardless of what happens today with transfers, it feels like the only way for the fans to be noticed is to do what Reading fans have been doing and prevent matches from taking place. I don't like it particularly, but this feels like the only way to force the issue.

The problem I'm seeing is that I'm not sure how much of the matchday fanbase would be willing to take part in the kind of protest that disrupts a match.

  10. I don't necessarily buy into the idea that Rovers will save most of the Wharton money for the summer, but I also see the logic in not going crazy with just over 24 hours left in the window. Now is not the time to take lots of risks on permanent signings.

Getting McFadzean in on a short term deal till the end of the season is ok for me. Realistically he'll be coming in as cover, not necessarily a first team starter. For those wondering why we didn't just keep Ayala....I'd imagine McFadzean's terms are less.

I'm more concerned that we're going to be very short in central midfield if we don't bring another one in. God help us if Tronstad gets injured.
