Am I the only one who thinks there is something not quite right about this Markanday injury? Feel like he was never going to be ready until next season but we wanted to make a big deal out of giving him his debut and have then made up an injury. Maybe I’m still stuck in the Kean days mentally
I think you are yes

I feel like the majority of rovers fans, given previous years form, are expecting a defeat here and a collapse incoming. If we somehow manage to win this I’ll really start to believe there’s something good brewing

counter-intuitive; surely if they're a big lumbering defence, their worst nightmare is small, mobile, nippy forwards with the ball played to feet. Risk of matching a tall forward against big defence is opening the easy option to just hoof the ball towards him......
I agree. But I bet that’s Mowbrays thinking. He loves trying to adapt our team to the opposition every now and then (ie. Having Gallagher in to help defend corners) rather than us imposing our game on them

• • Khadra Markandy • • • Rothwell Buckley Travis • • Edun Nyambe • • • Wharton van Hecke Lenihan • Kaminski That's gotta be the squad against 'boro. If I discover Gally is starting, I think i'll just munch my hotdog then consider heading home
It will definitely be Gallagher as Boro are quite a big team physically so Mowbray will think Gallagher will be suited to that, despite the fact he never wins any headers or physical battles

Tonight’s game has shown how desperate we are for another midfielder. He clearly doesn’t trust Davenport, instead shoe-horning Gallagher into the formation which destroyed any of the attacking promise we could have had and restricted Rothwell, who was too aware of his defensive duties to play his normal way.

Absolute garbage imo. Pickering has done OK but Nyambe is a far better player.
Hopefully we're crawling towards a resolution on at least a couple of the three by now as I fear losing any of them in January could derail any hopes of promotion and it's imperative we keep them all until the end of the season at the very least.
If however we did lose them I fear Nyambe would be the hardest to replace within our budget for similar quality I think it would probably be easiest to find a passable replacement for Lenihan and if we lost Rothwell we might be able to manage for creativity to an extent by bringing in Dack and/or Butterworth.
Like I say, imperative none go anywhere this month for me however, whether they agreed new deals or not.
Pickering is a far better footballer technically. Nyambe beats him on physical attributes obviously but to call him a far better player I'd say is a bit off. Personally think Pickering has been very impressive and it's clear he's got something about him. I'd take a right sided version of him as a Nyambe replacement and be more than happy. And all for 300k

I would say we need both tbh depending on the finances and squad places available. Plus who is sold in January if anyone need replacing.
I suspect Nyambe and Rothwell will sign new contracts here shortly but Lenihan I suspect will be sold in January and I would hope we sign John Souttar from Hearts
Why do you think those two will sign new deals? Hasn't it been widely accepted for some time that they won't?

If you think passion is the same as being moronic I’d also take a pass on whatever criteria you would apply. Passion can get one a long way in life, especially in a leadership role. But yeah, I bet Wilder can’t wait to get here.
No I don't think that. But a lack of tactical nous can only be covered by passion so far. Successful managers have both. I'd rather a boring sod with some intelligence than someone skating by on passion. That's saved for assistant managers (Duncan Ferguson, Sammy Lee etc), there's a reason they aren't managers.
Suggesting you want David Speedie, a man who has been known to make racist remarks and is clearly desperate for attention on Twitter, no matter how serious you were or not, is a little moronic however...

If I can’t have ability (because I don’t believe any manager with a good rep will come here), I take passion. What I can’t stand is not having either.
Might as well offer it to any moron then if that's your criteria

Benched for todays game v Leeds.
Came on as sub and did OK.
A Southampton win without him in the starting line up could mean more time sat down.
Didn't come on, so not sure how you can surmise that he did okay

Dack still managed to score 3 when he was still regaining fitness after doing his cruciate the first time. That's almost half as many as Rothwell has scored in his entire time here. Who's the better player isn't even a debate

Brereton delivered. 4 goals in 7 games. Look good up front tonight. Was my MOTM.
Did you face away from the game? The only thing he did well was his goal. Absolute trash the rest of the game

Why do we always leave the most important transfers for deadline day?
And sometimes not even then...

To be fair we are being linked with a left back today... And it's been stated several times it's something they're at sorting.
The transfer window has been pretty tragic in general but I think at this point you might as well hold back the fury till after 11pm tomorrow as none of us really know what business we're going to do between now and then. Might end up with a front 3 of Obafemi, Healey and Toni.......

Saw in today's game everything that is wrong with the policy of bringing in youngsters from Prem League Clubs.
Our own playersike Buckley and Dolan will miss out on vital experience and game time at the expense of those two clowns we've paid money to bring in from Liverpool and Leeds.
Meanwhile you also have to ask what Park's role at the Club is, does he not have any contacts of his own, or hidden gems bookmarked after a lifetime in the game which would prevent us from having to go down our normal route of simply picking whatever crumbs are left off the Premier League loan table at the end of the window?
Clowns seems a bit strong... They're just young lads trying to get some experience

Personally I think Luca Toni is a bit too old now, I think we should be looking at Rhys Healey... 😏

How can the player make an informed decision about coming here if the manager can't even be arsed speaking to him?
I really don't think it's down to the manager not being arsed... The lad just clearly didn't fancy it and wasn't even interested in talking to the manager. I'm sure it happens a lot. Money, geography, dropping down a league, all these things could have put him off before it got to the discussions with Mowbray stage. Move on

Dream realistic deadline day
Curtis - 2 mill
obafemi - 2 mill
loan of lb with centre back ability or other way about
Brighton winger on loan
id be delighted
Wouldn't go anywhere near Curtis. Especially at that price. Friend of mine is a Portsmouth fan and he's desperate to get rid. Only performs half the time and has a terrible attitude apparently. Zero pace too.

Exciting times when our 5th choice goalkeeper signing a new deal and moving out on loan is the only newsworthy business to report isn't it...

Luton have just signed Henri Lansbury and Cameron Jerome
Has the the mediocre one returned from holidays yet?
Any word on recruiting a head of recruitment? Does someone think the head of recruitment should be recruiting for the role and as such everybody has forgotten whose job it is?
Tin pot
Appreciate the sentiment of us being slow to move in the market but I wouldn't go near either of those two...

Can’t imagine Mowbray would go for this. Sure he’d rather keep Rothwell till the end of the season with the vague hope of him signing a new deal
