  1. Can't add anything to what has already been said but a slight glimmer of hope elsewhere was Markanday when he came on, all to no avail of course but he seemed to be a bit better than I remember him being.

Nowt more depressing than seeing how quickly the Riverside and BBE emptied after the third goal and as the minites advanced after that (and presumably the JW, but it's hard to tell sat in it!). The BBE was practically being closed up when I went downstairs after Sammie had finished his lap at the end. Not seen it that bad in a good while.

I also stayed long enough to hear Gallagher annpunced as MOTM. Surely I imagined that?!

I would just like to add that I said Boo at full time. I am so sorry if poor Callum or Dom are lying in bed now, crying uncontrollably at my heartlessness.

  2. Of course, the VFM factor also comes down to what you ate interested in. I'd concede that if you like cricket, golf, rugby union, F1 etc. and sport is your primary interest/social expense then fair enough, £30 all you can eat is great.

If however you only like football, and your interest in that competes with other expensive hobbies like weekend city breaks or live music etc. then all of a sudden £x per month is rather unattractive.

  3. That's me not watching Rovers on the midweeks etc. any more then. I adore Rovers but I utterly resent Sky and everything they stand for. I can't in all good faith bring myself to hand them a tenner if I want to watch us at Swansea on a Tuesday next season or whatever, nor can I be arsed to circumvent it.

(Before anyone says the obvious, I live in the Midlands. Birmingham or West Brom is golden for me midweek, Ewood less so!)

Agreed with this. Bristol has some excellent pubs/bars. Couple of suggestions for folk en route(ish) to the stadium: Orchard Inn or Steam Crane. Both usually offering a good selection of local brewery beers and ales.

Was recommended the Orchard but have dropped in at the Bag of Nails now so it's too far off the path sadly.

  5. First time at Ashton Gate tonight. I have circumvented my fears of the dirge I might be served up in exchange for my match ticket and hotel costs and day off work by partaking in this city's excellent public house provision. Half the time I think if I had to do all this teetotal I think I'd get another hobby.

Well at least we wouldn’t have to listen to them chanting  on and on about another club, rather than their own team.

This is beginning to do annoy me at Rovers. Not been to Ewood in a while, but at Norwich and then at Stoke yesterday, despite our brilliant performances on the pitch, our most popular song was that '[Kompany] playing football the Burnley way...' chant, and all you could hear stood outside the bet65 beforehand was some anti-Burnley stuff. I'm here to support our boys, ffs.

Southern Macedonia is a province within Greece. Northern Macedonia is an independent country. Greece objected to the independent country calling itself just Macedonia (itself only created when Yugoslavia fell apart) as by the name there is a perceived inference that it lays a claim to all of historical Macedonia including the bit in Greece. So settlement reached where independent Macedonia renamed itself as Northern Macedonia. Everyone happy (probably not).

I had a Greek flatmate at the time that was all getting tweaked (the renaming, not the dissolution of Yugoslavia!). He wasn't short of opinions on the matter, and you can imagine what they were. It actually transpired that he wasn't too keen on any of Greece's neighbours except for Bulgaria. Lost hours of my life accidentally setting him off on stuff like that. Like saying the V word to a Rovers fan, but worse.

  8. I mean surely we all know by now that a lot of the rules and regulations and their executors in the highest levels of football are weak as piss. Man City can afford pretty much an endless line of the best legal representatives in the world; anything that does get filed will come with a comparative slap on the wrist and a fine any given member of their first team could pay instantaneously.

Fit and proper, FFP, all this shite; it's all bollocks. As ever, it is only the ones without mummy and daddy on hand who shall be punished.
