  1. On Okkas, who is coming here for a trial according to skysports, I'm a little perplexed as to why Olympiakos would allow him to come on trial. Do they want to get rid of him?

okay, i know this is a predictable comment from me, but does anyone not think that Matt Derbyshire should be considered, if the others aren't doing the business. He has pace and an eye for goal.

Obviously, he's untested at the highest level and there's doubts about his physical strength (although to score those goals in the hoof it long leagues is no easy feat).

It appears that Hughes would rather keep Derbyshire at the club than let him go out on loan - so perhaps he's biding his time to blood him.

Before Derbyshire gets his chance i would give jeffers a do...give him 12 or so games on the run like Nonda has had...

  2. Only disappointment was Wisla's tendency to dive everytime there was any contact whatsoever. Poor do that! Nice to see that dropping to the ground and playing hurt contributed to our winner! If the silly bgugger at ch had not lead motionless in the pen area and tried to get a free kick he might well have prevented the goal. Tough shitski matey!

No but I will. Benny will fly home VIP to collect his Ferrari from the airport, go home to his £5m pad and ex model wife whilst reckoning up that this weeks work will have earned him about 40 grand whilst his Polish antagonist will go home to his tiny flat for a tea of cabbage and beetroot.

Choose whichever is most applicable Benni...........'Sticks and stones', 'turn the other cheek' or 'he who laughs last laughs longest'. :rover:

Not really the point though is it

Money has nothing to do with this

  3. Radio Lancs said that Emerton played well in the first half and neill played well in the secon half.

Jeffers seems to have taken up his rightful role as 4th striker.

Jeffers has to be the best 4th choice striker we've ever had!!

I know the guy gets some stick on here but he's getting better every game and as soon as he bags a goal or two he's gonna give Hughes a real selection headache!!

  4. Dhorasso could plug a gap in the squad, and then we should buy a younger creative midfielder in Janurary or in the summer.

You would think that Hughes would know every possible player that could be brought in immediately...and this guy must be top of that list.

Would he be eligable to play in Europe?

  5. They have both been nominated for the FIFA world player of the year award.

    Football 365

i wasnt saying that they are not good players, rather that they might not get into the suggested teams because unlike England, these teams do not pick players based merely on reputation.

Im pretty sure that those nominations would be based on their club performances...which has no bearing on how they perform for their country, which is what we are talking about after all.

  6. I disagree. Rooney is an absolutely superb footballer and would grace any international side. Gerrard is also a supremely gifted player who would have no trouble getting into any nation's midfield-I have no doubt that the would fit into the engine rooms of Brazil, Italy, France, Germany and Argentina without any hesitation.

I disagree about Gerrard, or even Rooney getting into those teams, perhaps germany but none of the others. The difference between those teams (particularly Argentina) and England is that they play their best team not their best 11 players and arent afraid to drop a player if he isnt performing....something England just do not do!

The most obvious example being Lampard who has been poo at international level for a year or so...but also playing Neville at wingback last night was pretty stupid.
