Ashley Ward didn't come on a free transfer from a first division club and score 8 goals in his first season in the premiership, mainly from the bench i might add!

Granted Kuqi isnt the best player...but he was a good signing given the position that rovers found themselves in at that point, and his goals justified that.

It would be great to get dunny but i think Hughes will be doing his summer shopping as if he isnt going to come back.

At least that way should he ocme we would already have a good attacking midfielder (Valencia please!!) and Dunny's arrival would be to add very good compitition for places....accross the entire midfield!

Newcastel have always had better players than Rovers....but they NEVER perform to their potential, and i expect that to continue this season.

We have a better manager and backroom staff...and are a team! In my opinion Newcastle have a team of individuals all pulling in different directions.

Damien Duff is not going to change that fact...if anything he will make it worse.

The comparison of Duffer and MGP sounds a bit like sour grapes to me.

Some of the comments are unreal "No way would i take him over MGP" etc etc

Duff at the end of the day is a World Class talent and the only problem with him is the ability to stay injury free. As the 'ToonFan' reported yesterday, they have signed Duff for £5 million which is a considerable value less than his market value, but with him in his last year of his contract at Chelsea, then this probably had a factor in this price.

I wish Duffer all the best in his career, but I'm still not clued in why he picked Newcastle. They still aren't in Europe yet and as someone correctly said that there is no reason as to why Blackburn can out-shine Newcastle this time around again. Roeder could well find it hard to finish in the top-8 if he doesn't find a striker capable of scoring 15 goals a season.

I think it was Chelsea who picked Newcastle rather than Duff. Aprrantly both Spurs and Liverpool were both in for him..but Chelsea didnt want to sell to a rival.

If i were him i'd have waited until next summer

Obviously holding World Cups in large countries has its logistical drawbacks- South Africa is huge but Australia is another matter altogether. Including Perth as a venue in European terms would be like having the World Cup in Germany with a few games played in the Siberian cities with German-speaking populations.

I will be very disappointed if Italy doesn't win this, they have been the best team throughout and deserves a win against an, for me, uninspiring French team.

The only reason I can see that could make me want French victory in this match is Zinedine Zidane, but he has won enough in his career anyway - it's a lot more important to me that Francesco Totti get a gold to wrap up his International career. As I have said earlier, I rate him above anyone else in the world in club football, but he has struggled more for Italy. He has been performing better and better throughout this tournament whilst regaining fitness, and even though I expect France to try and take him out of the game with some tough tackles early on, I believe he will stand out and help Italy win this.

He is a very talented young man who will one day win the world player of the year, he is getting some very bad advice of someone and I for one hope it changes so we can appreciate his talent.
