Its not like we've not been here before and we all know how this turned out.

6 losses on the bounce starting now, a draw a win, a draw and a win, almost mirrors right now, but we never gave up.

    21 March 1992 Charlton Athletic H 0–2 14,844
    28 March 1992 Barnsley A 1–2 13,346 Shearer
    31 March 1992 Port Vale A 0–2 10,384
    11 April 1992 Watford A 1–2 10,552 Wegerle
    14 April 1992 Wolverhampton Wanderers H 1–2 14,114 Sellars
    18 April 1992 Leicester City H 0–1 18,075
    20 April 1992 Tranmere Rovers A 2–2 13,705
    25 April 1992 Millwall H 2–1 12,820 Newell, Atkins
    29 April 1992 Sunderland H 2–2 15,079 Hendry, Sellars
    2 May 1992 Plymouth Argyle A 3–1 17,459 Speedie (3)

The difference between then and now is that the people running the club were actually trying to get us promoted.

  2. The fact we even were second and totally dominating teams shows what quality there is in the squad.

This season's downfall has been due to piss poor management and a total lack of investment.

Remember how in January we were supposedly linked with signing a promising young midfielder for 1.6 million, then the club came out with a statement saying that we won't be spending 2 million this window?

That's some real ambition we've got there.

There are still a lot of questions surrounding this football club and a lot of suspicion. I don't think Mowbray has deliberately sabotaged the season, he does this every year, but the total lack of investment and lack of desire to achieve anything other than a mid table finish in this division leaves a lot of questions that need answers.

I am still not convinced that where we are is simply down to mere ineptitude.

Know what argument makes me want to bludgeon my head against a thought cast wall

“ I don’t want mowbray but I’m too scared as to who they would appoint next to want a change”

    aghhhhhhhhh!!!!!

we are better than this, living in fear, no ambition

I don't want to see him here anymore. He's totally fucked any chance of getting out of this league for another decade.

I still am anxious about who will be his replacement though. Anyone that isn't hasn't been paying attention for the las ten years.

I have gauged my views in what I was told and what I have seen and weighed up the info I had possession of and the info I have been given and I would say it’s very clear there is a very good future ahead for our club across all aspects of football. Whether you or others agree is up to you and them

    What have you seen?

    What have you been told?

    What information do you have?

    What do you know?

  5. Mowbray's problems have always been him meddling with the squad and trying to outfox the opposition. Just play to our strengths for fuck sake!

We have a squad of decent players who are mostly young and eager. We should have pissed those last few games and been way ahead in second but constant pissing about with the lineup and playing people out of position has totally fucked us.

Funny how when Giles was on the wing and Gallagher was up front a goal was created.

and is not our country either

    Neither are Russia and Ukraine.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here.

And by the way, things that happen in other parts of the world have a massive bearing on the UK and it's society.

Personally think a few of you are looking far too deeply into Mowbray just being his usual fairly strange self (no surprises as some on here have totally lost the plot in regards to TM).

He’s often had a face like a smacked arse, even after a win. He’s a pretty arrogant fella and has obviously had his nose put out of joint by whatever went on at half time.

But so what? That’s part and parcel of the game, a feisty dressing room is no bad thing, we are at the business end now and I’m glad to see the players still want it.

He can be a wierd guy. It's highly likely that some of the players got stuck into him at half time for some of the bullshit tactics he was trying to implement and that's put his nose out a bit.

Hopefully he'll be putting together a strong squad with a solid game plan for the next game. I always believed that the winning streak we went on last time was due to him getting a rev up after the Fulham game.

Just how I felt. Tbh I don’t come on here too often anymore as it quite often feels fairly toxic, but this thread has taken it to whole new levels. It genuinely seems like some of you are gutted we won as you’d rather blast Mowbray than celebrate a victory

That’s also how I read his (admittedly strange) radio Lancs interview.
It comes across to me that he’s torn into a few at h/t (along with a couple of the senior players) and he’s feeling that - that’s not his usual man-management style - and a blazing row plays on most peoples’ minds for a while afterwards (even if you’re in the right).
Certainly throughout the first half he was angrier at the players than I’ve seen him before this season, shouting at Rothwell and Johnson a few times about positioning, and he had a right go at JRC during a break for their lad getting treatment - telling him to stop turning back and to ‘go f***ing forward’.

From the sound of things it's more like Mowbray got a bollocking from the players.

I don't think it'll go down as a managerial masterclass, but changing tack during the game and making match winning substitutions is exactly where managers earn their corn. Obviously the first half was a disaster & that's on Mowbray, but his changes were instrumental in us getting the three points.

God knows he's got his flaws, but there's nothing to be gained by giving him pelters when things go wrong but not giving him any credit when things go our way.

To be fair it's football 101 though. Playing defensive midfielders up front when they really can't play that position is absoluteley beyond amateur. If we can all see that's not going to work why can't he?

Who'd have thought though that playing a winger on the wing and a striker up front would lead to goals being created 🤔

    Tactical. Fucking. Genius.

He's used him as a false 9 to replace Buckley a few times this season. Pretty mad. I guess the thinking is he provides some sort of aerial capability. Terrible today, could barely run.

4231 looked good when we switched at half time. Totally overran Derby. Playoffs looks just about possible. So tight though. We have played so many more games than teams behind us.

Sheff Utd, Luton and Notts Forest all have enough points in their games in hand to over take us.

Do that sort of shit in the Premier League and we'll be 4-0 down after 10 minutes.
