As it stands they can only manage to get 14-16k depending on away support. That's with zero ambition and zero effort. They can still get 8k season ticket sales despite hiking the price and additional penalty fees. In short, this club is very well supported given the location and size of town.

If they've gone with that then it really does show just how lazy they are. There's no real evidence that the club wore a Maltese cross. That comes from a book that was written about football in general years after the foundation of the club. Numerous sources closer to the time mentioning that we wore the famous blue and white from the very beginning with no mention of a Maltese cross. Given there's a debate as to whether the initial foundation of the club was 1874 or 1875, there's a lot we don't know about the very early days. With the level of effort that they put into everything else they've no doubt just gone on that historic football shirt website and taken that as gospel.
