We should have pulled the plug on the deal as soon as they started talking about what Rovers could do for the Venkys brand instead of the other way around. It was clear fromt the start, as you say, that the club was only bought to bolster the image of the owner.

Sadly Jack's family wanted the moolah and couldn't get their hands on the Rupees quick enough.

Though since the London lads were connecting on here then those of us in NZ & Aus should do the same.

    Come on in my bros.

Adelaide based here. I'm trying to wean myself of Rovers though as as following the club makes me sad and angry. Life is too short.

  3. I certainly don't want Rovers to go cap in hand to the Issa brothers but is it beyond the club to sell them a mutually beneficial commercial partnership on the basis that their various businesses and Rovers are Blackburn based entities with a national profile? Apparently it is.

This sponsorship is very disappointing. I'm sceptical about the anti vaping propaganda but I just feel that vaping is poorly regarded and percieved which reflects negatively on the club. Such a poxy logo that looks terrible on our shirt too.

Same age, Remember that game as one of those where we scored first and the defence was so good we had supreme confidence in another 1-0 win! Fantastic days out that season. The days of scarves streaming out of car windows!

Such an effective team. I remember us going up and then taking the Second Division by storm. We played Derby away early that first season back up. I think we drew but Mickey Speight thwacked the crossbar with A free kick and we battered them. Sadly Kendall was too good to not attract the attention of First Division clubs and him going was inevitable.

It is definitely true. Simply played the home game there and the away fixture at Ewood.

It reminds me of something else too. We drew Millwall away in the FA cup and due to some hooliganism, they had been banned from staging FA cup games, at home.

With it being their home fixture, they played in blue and we payed in our changed strip.

It is the only time I remember us not wearing the blue and white halves at Ewood.

    Does anyone else recall that?

That is a bit before my time but I seem to remember Rovers playing in all red at Ewood in a UEFA Cup game.

Can someone explain the Stoke love in? I really don't get it. They have won 3 and lost 2 in their last 5, not really tearing it up. Will it be easy? Of course not, no game in the Championship is, but we can get a result of that I have no doubt.

Will say it again:They are 16th for a reason. That's not me being arrogant, that's just what it is.

No matter who the manager is Stoke always seem to be fairly direct and physical, the sort of team Rovers traditionally struggle against. They are rightly regarded as a big club and have a recent Premier League pedigree. They have a good manager and represent the type of opposition that Rovers often trip up against when we're seemingly on the cusp of success. The pessimism is probably due to a combination of those factors.

Surely we’ve got to move on. He made mistakes on the day, we got well beaten. It was an awful day, but it was four months ago and we’ve bounced back strongly.

All this about it being ‘unforgivable’, of course it’s forgivable, he has us in with a chance of completely transforming this football club after just months in post.

We are getting as bad as them for obsessing about that one fixture.

We have bounced back well of course but I'm an old school Rovers fan and I'm also from Accy so I do obsess about that game! I'll move on and forgive if we beat those ****s at Ewood.

Cardiff was a disgrace, and summed up that whole period.

Millwall was the big gut punch for me under Bowyer. We'd beaten Arsenal at the Emirates and then took Millwall to a home replay to finally get to play at the 'new Wembley' in the semi-final. What a chance and we performed so poorly. To add to the woes we would have drawn Wigan in the semi who went on to win it!

Incidentally, we played Leicester that same year, in the league, and a certain Harry Kane was on the scoresheet for them. Mind you we had a defender called Karim Rekik playing who I genuinely have no recollection of at all.

I've just Googled him. He's playing for Sevilla!

  9. I love a horrible scrappy home win, they are the stuff of successful seasons. The Yahoos have had 2 in a week and they've got Rotherham at t'Turd on Wednesday.

Anyone that finishes above them goes up for me but I fancy we'll get our first draw of the season in the Land That Time Forgot.
