  1. I did you said there was no defining way to prove who was the best etc and you were merely taking it on game to game basis and you said beck was miles clear Going by the eye test Which is your opinion I just disagree I think there has to be more defined metrics to warrant ‘best’ of anything
  2. Why wouldn’t he though? batth excellent last year (age a factor could blow up this year who knows) weimann see above brittain comfortably top 5 right backs in the league If I was a Derby fan I’d be asking more of the scouting department and the future batth / weimann / beck all likely to move on next year and they already have an aging team striker signed from America already injured and likely to miss first 5/6 games of the season I just hope there is a bidding war and we milk every last penny out of whoever gets him as it’s clear someone is going to match venkys valuation
  3. That he was our best left back in decades strongly disagree but we’ve moved on from that now
  4. We really shouldn’t be wasting 3million (sceptical we would even pay that amount) on a player who we won’t likely see until Xmas or after?
  5. Dolan to espanyol would be fun on the forum
  6. The debate isn’t about the player it’s about their rovers career to have a player in your all time rovers team there has to be something to support that for what they have done for the club. Not by their name who or they were in the past or went on to be. Anything under a season doesn’t warrant that
  7. I’m not sure many would have Bellamy in their ‘all time best rovers’ lineup no Chris Sutton? seriously what are we doing here
  8. But the discussion wasn’t about future it was about past and present rovers careers not what they could become. That’s the point Iv been trying to make all along but your right let’s move on
  9. The same as the 10 page discussing we used to have about pears who is worse least it’s a new name and for the record I don’t think Williams is better I think he’s had a better rovers career which is the point being made
  10. So if a promotion and prem season is a factor then can we say bell has been better than beck then?
  11. My main question is what metric is beck being judged on? games played? Awards won? Clean sheets? Assist? Goals? im genuinely intrigued to know the basis of all this
  12. I don’t or didn’t think Williams was a better ‘player’ as such he was better for rovers based on playing more than 20 games that has to count for something if we are judging players on extremely small sample sizes then your going down a big rabbit hole and I stand by what I said a left back over 100 games with a player of the season under his belt has been better for rovers than a player who started 20 games with 4 other sub appearances overall as a player is neck better and likely to have a better career highly likely but not for rovers
  13. 24 appearances is half a season so that’s enough to call a player the best left back the club has had in 15/20 years? Not for me not even close he picked up one significant hamstring injury 3 games suspension for that Preston tramp and missed the start as was a late signing he’s not a sick note (yet) but has had a bad hamstring injury which with players like him could easily flare up again
  14. Could well be cheaper could be a lot of things . But the main point Iv argued is calling beck our best left back in 15/20 years. To me that’s crazy given how little he played
  15. Yes I believe we have and it’s nothing to do wit the kids talent but player injuries and availability has to come into play when putting across such an argument I also disagree with the later part too what has Ribiero done wrong? Fantastic pick up we can only judge on playing for rovers not on potential and what you might think of him as a player again if we went and asked say a Kevin Gallagher or a David Dunn for talk sake in the last 15 years who’s been rovers best left back I’d be very surprised if either mentioned beck because he played so little
  16. Can’t agree on that one Burrows styles firpo tymon bryon Callum Doyle all had better seasons Was it because they played full seasons likely but a player can only be judged on games and availability
  17. No im not Iv stated beck is quality I’m taking issue saying he’s been the best left back we have had in decades. keep up
  18. Sorry but rovers99 is spot on here I do believe if your good enough age is irrelevant but when it comes to championship over 48 game season (2 cup games minimum) there has to be balance in playing him if cantwell was to get injured for a significant period of time we need other options other than tyjon to hold down the fort in that position look at rigg in his first year at Sunderland 20 odd appearances not reliant on him or pressuring him just giving him that experience and enough for him to say next season I’m going to compete regularly for first team spot
  19. I forgot about that signing yea i think he’s a class little player but some of the comments on here tonight would make you think we have lost maldini to derby
  20. Let me clarify my point on beck I think beck is a class wee player and can go on to do well but in order to call a player the best in that position for a certain club over the last 15/20 years surely you would have had to play more than 25 games to even be considered in that conversation That’s my point
  21. Your right they did forgot about him pushes beck closer to the exit door
  22. No but I’d suggest that you would need to watch a player for more than 25 games for them to be called your clubs best left back in decades or the last 15 years iv stated beck is good im not having hes been our best left back in the last 15 years and id say if you asked many managers ex players etc id be very surprised if he was even mentioned
  23. I’d rather have my opinion over a player who has played over 100 games for rovers with a player of the season to his collection also than somebody with potential but a poor injury record for us wasn’t it you last week said you heard noises from brockhall that de neve was terrible in training couldn’t do drills and had an awful touch - yea after you posted that there’s absolutely nothing from your account that can be taken seriously
