Some interesting comments from JE in the post cup match interview (towards end of video):
Sort of suggesting that Forshaw and Sanderson are financially shrewd cover signings, and we’re saving our budget to invest on attacking talent.
Re your last sentence, pretty much what Jackson said yesterday….keeping our powder dry for the attacking galatico’s!

Always easy work at Boro.
Well done lads!

We've actually not been stretched. Been allowed to sit deep and compact. Would be making a sub for the hell of it at this point.
We’ve made 2 subs

Not watching but sounds like same old for Leonard. His movement gets him into scoring positions but he misses presentable chances. He was the same under JDT.
He needs a loan to get his confidence up.

he is comfortably one of our 2 fastest centre backs, and seeing as the other one is injured (Carter), I am not complaining
Yeah, pretty sure he played against us for Brum at Ewood under JDT. Just wondered how quick he was. You’re quicker than our current CB pairing!

We can all agree that Gueye wouldn’t have hit the bar from there yes?
No further comment
Agreed. He’d have missed it completely.

Despite us being relegated from the Championship, Sanderson was pretty decent for us last season, and when on loan from Wolves to us the season before as well. Eustace will know how to get the best out of him. Just because you’ve signed him from a lower division doesn’t mean he’s an inferior player.
The reason he is surplus this season at Birmingham is partly because he doesn’t fit in with our manager’s tactics and also because as often happens, managers prefer their ‘own’ players whom he deems to be better.
Sanderson is mostly a very decent defender but can be prone to making silly mistakes occasionally, but then in a poor team last season the poor play from others around him might have contributed to those errors. He can also sometimes be good at picking a perfect pass out of defence and upfield to one of the attackers.
Obviously I don’t know the merits of your other defenders, but all in all I think he could well be a decent loan signing for you, certainly as a squad player and perhaps even as a regular in the starting eleven if he settles in well.
We Brum fans aren’t too bothered about him going, but that’s more to do with the excellent form of our other defenders rather than thinking he’s not good enough.
I hope it all works out well for him, and good luck in your pursuit for the play-off places.
Thanks. Is he quick?

Wonder if the McFazdean to L2 reports are true as you'd think he'd start today.
What reports?

Looking at the comments under the club’s facebook post he’s a terrific signing and we can’t do any more because of FFP.
So no issues from me.
Sounds reasonable.

And to clarify, you think they’re terrible signings?
@roversfan99 I’m going to have to push you for an answer, I know you like to do the same for others😉

There’s nothing to be gleaned from what Plymouth fans say. He was playing for a shit manager in a team that was conceding a lot of goals. He’ll be joining a well drilled team that will plays in a totally different way.

I’ve just never seen us sign a player where his previous clubs have such a negative opinion about him on purely footballing terms. And at his age he’s clearly deteriorating. I mean, I was disappointed with Batth and he is my player of the year. It’ll judge him as he plays and hold my hand up. But it doesn’t half reek of desperation.
The likes of Sanderson, Sorba Thomas, Giles etc.. I could see logic behind. It reeks of an absolutely shite budget tbf.
I’m holding on to the fact that Eustace wants him and he’s been a good judge so far with experienced signings. Forshaw was a good player in his day, I’m presuming he can still do a bit. Also our CMs don’t move very far so if he hangs around the centre of the pitch keeping hold of the ball and starting attacks then he could be a shrewd addition.

But would he have wanted those signings if we had even a reasonable and competitive budget?
But he doesn’t.

So to clarify, you are happy with both signings and feel they strengthen our chances of making the top 6?

Just had a look on the Leeds forum as that’s where Forshaw was last a regular. They actually still call the physios room “The Adam Forshaw Suite” even 18 months after he left.
It’s sounding like you’re on the fence with this signing

100% this.
Dress it up however you like folks, but for a team that should be chasing the play-offs… they’re fucking shit signings.
We’re only ‘chasing the play-offs’ because the man who wanted those two ‘fucking shit signings’ has put us in that position.
Probably a point worth considering, maybe?

Serious Question guys (I'm not taking the piss) are you worried about the lack of money the Venkys seem to have, free old transfers from league one is not what you want or need for a push to win promotion
They don’t lack money, they just won’t invest it in Rovers. It’s been the same for 14 long fucking years. Have you been on the moon?

If Eustace wants Forshaw then I want Forshaw because I want Eustace.

I don't really understand it unless we are offloading a CB or Carter's injury is worse than first announced.
Suppose it is low risk and it is clearly a Eustace led/approved signing so have to support his judgment. Birmingham fans seem to think his best spell was when Eustace was their manager.
It really doesn't suggest there is much either by way of plan or resources though. It instead points to an ever increasingly desperate financial situation.
All that talk about structures, plans, systems, scouting. All that money brought in. And in the end it's loaning someone who the manager knows from his last club who are now in the league below yet seemingly in a far better state than we are.
Makes perfect sense. We’re short at CB and RB and Carter won’t be back until Feb.
Whether Sanderson is any good is a different matter….but I trust Eustace to sign good defenders.
