I miss seeing football of that quality at Ewood.

I think that 3-4 first half scoreline  is still a Premier League record for goals scored- should have been 5-4 with those penalties.

What a game.  Funny how the commentator must have commentated on Kevin Gallacher through his whole career and still couldn’t get his name right.  It’s Gallacher, he’s Scottish ya tube.

  2. He probably means that the South Stand was full so a few overspilled into the Lowfields and tried to blend in but failed.  I recall we had a lot over that day, it was during our 22 game unbeaten run which ended a week or 2 after this at Stoke.  I've never really experienced any bother with Leeds and a few of years ago went in the Peacock before the game with some mates from up here and it was surprisingly fine.  On saying that I don't have any time for Leeds, it's a rugby town isn't it?

  3. I think the later in the season you play Leeds this year the better. Bielsa’s teams always start well then fade away because the players can’t cope with the demands on them.

on saying that though I do love the man and his eccentricities, he’s my favourite manager in world football and I was gutted that he went to Leeds.

It’s going to be a roller coaster ride for you this season and I’ve no idea what will happen tomorrow.

favourite game against Leeds the 2-1 home win in about 84.  Might have been Boxing Day but the place was packed out.  The 2-2 when we were two down at Elland road was great as well.

Oh and thanks for Scott Sellars, he was a great player who cost us around £20k when that was all we could afford.

I was there that day. I was angry about Ardiles getting injured but it never entered my head that Nicky Marker had deliberately set out to cause anything like that. To be honest I thought if anything it was more about a top class player used to a bit more time and space getting caught out by the physicality of the old second division.

Exactly, I was there to and with hindsight this is what happened.

No hatred for him at all. However, completely destroying a kid's knee in a reserve match is disgraceful, and the impact the injury has had on that person's life is incredibly sad.

All for what? So Marker could feel hard? Not sure how anyone can defend him in this instance?

Have you seen the tackle or do you have some insight into Marker’s state of mind when he made it? Marker went into loads of tackles in his career and I would bet he never went in once to injure someone or to look hard. It’s a contact sport, just.

Pretty sad that such a shithouse player ended such a promising career.

Growing up I remember Thornley being spoken about by a lot by United fans but I presumed he just wasn't good enough. Didn't realise it was an injury that stopped him reaching his potential.

Why the hate for Nicky Marker? No Messi I’ll grant you but an excellent squad man.  Always gave everything and could fill in in several positions and was a decent player as well.  Anyone could do with a couple of his like st the club.
