Shearer & Newell could make a good partnership can't doubt that Hughes was a very intelligent pla\yer and you'd expect him to carry that on into management. I keep thinking back to Dalglish and Harfords spell as manager and coach respectively. the way they tunred distinctly ordinary players into very effective ones (read: May, Atkins, Wilcox) would be pretty useful now, as would the ability to take chances the team had then. if you could pair dalglish with a coach of the same calibre as harford it would be very promising.

from what my old man has told me Newton sounds like he's our best right back, he was in the england team when the late sir Bobby Moore was captain, you have to wonder whether crompton would have been england captain if he came from the same generation as moore. in my lifetime I'd plump for Chris Price
