  1. I am very impressed with The Darkness. At first I thought they were some sort of parody act, but the music is actually very good. I have been considering buying the Deftones new album for some time. I really liked 'Minerva.'
  2. I received the newest White Stripes album for my birthday. It is absolutely brilliant.
  3. I haven't listened to it for a while. It sounded pretty good at the time.
  4. Whatever happened to The Seahorses? They were one of my favourite bands back in the late mid/late-nineties, the album was fantastic. Then they disappeared from the radar.
  5. I am currently enjoying the debut album from Audiovent. Being siblings of Brandon Boyd (Incubus) they have a similar sound, and that is no bad thing.
  6. Yes that is true. Yet It is important to note the difference between a manufactured act and one aimed at a certain market. Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park etc had been doing the same stuff for years before becoming recognised. The sh*te that ITV and the tabloids churn out on the other hand is brazen-faced, artificial pop-nonsense that will fade within a year.
  7. A bit harsh methinks. As a musician and songwriter she is of course, superior to Britney. I am not really a fan of that pop-punk sh*te though e.g. Blink 182, Good Charlotte (deserving of death) New Found Glory etc; crap.
  8. Just in case I couldn't read my name at the top eh? Is Norman an MBE? Yes he is. Question answered. Thankyou.
  9. Well, you don't have to be a doctor to be aware of the importance of personal hygiene. I even shower (whisper it) once a day... But I digress.
  10. I presume that is dance 'music' you are referring to. If so, the one word that springs to mind is 'Burberry'... Some people are so dam ignorant, especially when it comes down to musical tastes thinking that there own is far superior to other peoples, I couldn’t begin to tell you how passionately I feel about my taste in music, how much joy its brought and what it means to me and how much my musical tastes have evolved since the day’s of seeing Uriah Heep at King Georges Hall in 72, Obviously your not to experienced in the brilliant selections of a man such as Mr Norman Jay MBE. A little short sited to pigeon hole his blend of music under one banner “dance” and as far as your reference to ‘Burberry’ ??…Just typing the word makes me feel slightly nauseous, more akin to hurling racial and hateful abuse at football grounds around the country on match days I think, just the kind of friendly smiling faces you’ll expect to see at West Row/Southern Row London W10 on August Bank holiday Sunday/Monday enjoying the delights of The Good Times Sound System, at Notting Hill Carnival. Wise Up! Alright, steady on. I sincerely apologise for that previous comment. I was not actually stating that 'my music is better than yours' it was just my dislike of that genre showing through. No offense was intended etc. Rich, no smelly rockers around here. I am just a fan of musicians who can use instruments. I do wear baggy jeans though, so perhaps I'm biased... By the way, is this Norman Jay actually an MBE?

  12. I borrowed the new Roots album, Phrenology, from a friend. It really is superb and a greatly tempers the sort of bullsh*t 'bling-bling' Rap/Hip-Hop that is seeping into the music industry from across the pond.
  13. Coldplay Oasis The White Stripes The Strokes Radiohead ...... to name afew These examples deem your latter point false I would have thought. Well not really, surely they aren't the only bands that NME have fawned upon in its decades of existence. That list is indeed impressive except for the highly overrated Strokes and Radiohead. Oh and Radaghast I didn't mention left-wing activism. I was referring to RATM as left-wing commies, which if anything may have a hint of tautology :'>
  14. Sorry are you talking to me? As for NME, it has to be the most pretentious music guide in the world. The way it champions extremely dodgy groups who are in some way 'underground' is ridiculous. Anything that is anyway mainstream is looked down upon, no matter how good it is.
  15. De LaRocha never actually sang, he just yelled. RATM had alot more attitude and the politics of the music was very interesting. Another question? If Morello and co. are such left-wing commies, what do they do with the inevitable massive fortunes that they have made from both Rage and Audioslave?
  16. I have the 3rd and 4th albums. Both are excellent, although I suspect the earlier ones are far superior.
  17. Never heard Live After Death or S&M have you? :'> S&M is an awesome album.
  18. That is true. I suppose it is the obverse of the overly pompous NME declaring that some bland Strokes-like punk band are the greatest thing since the Beatles. Utter rubbish.
  19. Nope, it wasn't me. Although I feel that it has become fashionable to deride them due to some feeling that they are manufactured. If they were to churn out a great tune tomorrow, they wouldn't get the necessary kudos. Each to his own I suppose.
  20. Tell that to my brother, I'm not the real fan.
  21. That's a brilliant tune (if you are referring to the one at the end of Ali) By the way how did you get that great avatar?
  22. God no Radiohead?! The personification of bland, lifeless, over-hyped music.
  23. Moore is a legend. Yet I suspect his rantings would take it's toll after a couple of days. There was a rumour going around that Prince would be playing Glastonbury. A friend was all geared up to go but the absence of Micheal Jackson's Rock alter-ego has put him off.
  24. I bought the most recent Jurassic 5 album, Power In Numbers, yesterday. I saw them in my Students' Union on Tuesday night and they were simply awesome. I was a marginal fan before but in the light of that performance I have become much more interested. Rap features quite high on my list anyway, Cypress Hill are particular favourites and the stuff that N.E.R.D are producing at the moment is very good. Rock-wise, my brother bought Linkin Park's Meteora last week and it has proved to be a superior successor to the rather banal first album. Incubus are also highly recommended, the last two albums have been peerless in my opinion. Apart from the above, Queens of the Stone Age, Theory of a Deadman, David Gray and the Red Hot Chili Peppers feature quite a bit in my CD player.
