did you attend the game? was it good game?

No I watched it on a pretty poor stream. Blackpool were very well organised, we huffed and puffed but couldn’t find a way through - when we did their keeper made the saves.

Blackpool fan has died after an incident in The Manchester pub according to their AVFTT forum…

I’ve read an article this morning saying the fan was in ICU so I hope that is still the case and he recovers. Why do  people do this, it is just tragic.

I also heard a story that a Burnley fan was stabbed earlier in the day as well.

Superb wind up by Alan Nixon.

Dingles suggesting Rovers give them a guard of honour welcome when they come to Ewood.

Don’t shoot the messenger but apparently if we are champions at that point it is our right to request recognition from the opposition 🤷‍♂️

    That’s good to hear 👍🏻

  4. Blackpool managed to shut us out. We were a bit lethargic from what I’ve seen but it can be hard when a team is well organised and sits 10 behind the ball for 90 minutes - and it’s another away point and another undefeated.

On another note, and I’m posting this here to avoid the wrath of Gav - I watched your game on Sky and it seemed someone had some medical issues. I do hope whoever it was is ok and able to fully recover.

Not a cat in hells chance of a guard of honour at Ewood both sets of inbred dumb fuckwitted idiots would have a field day and mayhem would follow

    Sad - but true.

The Dingles owe them after being battered at Bramall Lane. And the Dingles could do us a huge favour, which they would enjoy immensely.

Owing them and collecting not always the same thing. They had the game for us that day, no reason they won’t again.

Also means only a section of the Darwen End they can smash up. Would mean no Rovers below for obvious reasons.

This is the most pointless part of these games. Of all the idiocy that occurs, smashing each others grounds up and landing your own club with a huge bill whilst not in any way inconveniencing the opposition fans you apparently hate.

I’d already decided I wouldn’t go to this game but with all the additional jeopardy of promotions/champions/play off spots I definitely won’t be reconsidering.

Wish we were playing Burnley on Saturday tbh. We're on such a wave of momentum at the moment that I genuinely believe we could give them a game and get something out of it.

You looked good last night - much better than you did against us - Dolan in particular looked dangerous.

Presume we won’t play now until 25/26 April so lots of ups and downs before we play.

Blackpool, Huddersfield and Wigan looking likely to go down despite all three appointing new managers. All 3 suffered bad defeats today.

I don’t see how that Huddersfield team survives if today is any measure - we really should have hit 8 or 9.

We have Blackpool away next in the league then Wigan at home. Be interesting to see how they compare.

  8. At the start of the season a few on here warned/advised about Luton’s mastery of the dark arts. We saw it in full flow yesterday!

That said they managed to stop us playing our game and maybe should have got at least a point, maybe all 3. The battle for the play offs beginning to look very tasty.

The top one is a done deal, unfortunately, but if Boro keep going then second place could get interesting. It's still Sheff Utd's to lose though, I think.

Would take a monumental c**k up on our part now.

Sheff Utd have a game in hand so it’s likely they will need to lose 4 more than Boro - or go on a run of draws. Not impossible but the ‘supercomputer’ has them @ 80% to be promoted.

No, he said that we were spending more than other teams.

Newcastle had a more expensive defender than our entire back four. Liverpool had a more expensive defence. Leeds had a more expensive midfield. Man Utd had spent more all round, I think their squad cost something like £5m more.

Dalglish spent a lot on his goalie and attackers, but the likes of Wilcox (£0), Atkins (£45k), Gayle (£0), Pearce (£300k), Hendry (£750,000 - which we gave back to City - he actually cost £25k), Berg (£400,00) were massively frugal purchases in comparison, and they all played a large part in winning the PL.

What about the season in Division 2, this level, the one where he came close to blowing it as I recall. Are you suggesting you weren’t outspending the competition heavily?

That's bollocks as you're probably well aware, but as par for the course with your lot, you're unwilling to acknowledge the reality of then and now.

So our success is purely down to money but yours had nothing to do with money. Sounds about right …

to attribute that mentatlity as the main reason you thrash virtually every other team out of sight, is a bit of a stretch IMO

I didn’t say it was - I said it was a major contributor to the late goals we’ve scored to rescue games/points. Against PNE it was simply a gulf in class and tactics. Last night was different - lest we forget the Watford squad to a large extent was assembled at great expense in the PL so the gulf in player quality is not great at all.

agree with you, but having the best players - by far as in the case of Burnley - is a massive advantage.

By far? We rarely get more than one or two in teams of the week that are dominated by the likes of Sheff Utd etc - indeed in Berge, NDiaye, McBurnie, Brewster, Bogle all cost more than our players and are generally higher rated than ours. We do have some very good players for sure but we are not alone in that. We have good players that were brought together 6 months ago and have been exceptionally well coached by Kompany and his team.

haven't noticed WBA scoring late on in games. Have they done it in many games this season?

I have no idea - my point was they were given a lot of added time - which seemed to be your point about us v Rotherham and our late goals so I was simply highlighting this.

7 minutes ago, Wheelton Blue said:

Let's be clear though. The primary reason you're winning virtually every game by 2, 3 or 4 goals, is not because you have some Fergie'esque never-say-die-attitude and ability to scrape draws and wins from losing positions, rather it's because you're miles better than everyone else for the reasons above.

I’m not ignoring any of those things - the point is we score late goals to win points when we aren’t at our best and I believe it is because of that mentality. The league clearly shows we have been better than most, maybe all apart from Sheff UTD, but earlier in the season we dropped points we shouldn’t have and for me that was in part because our mentality was frail because the squad was just as good as it is today.

  14. 23 minutes ago, Wheelton Blue said:

Your implication, by name dropping some of the greatest teams of all time, is that second division Burnley are made from the same stuff.

    Aye, OK.

Literally first teams that came to mind, inevitably other than my own team I only tend to be aware of those that dominated at various times - I could have also said our team from 15/16 I suppose. I thought I was quite clear, we are nowhere near those teams, except perhaps in mental strength. But still if it makes you feel better about things, fair enough.

Burnley have more lives than a Buddhist cat. Another late, late goal to rescue them from defeat. Their game against Rotherham was beyond the joke tbh.

The joke was Rotherham’s time wasting. To be honest he could have added 15 minutes and wouldn’t have been generous . I notice you don’t mention WBA scoring in the 9th minutes of time added on at the end of our game against them 🤷‍♂️.

Teams with a good mentality score at the end of games. It becomes a habit. Like it or lump it.

I have to concur, and you see it all too often for it to be a coincidence. I think off the Fergie teams with Keane in them, Arsenal with Viera, the great Barca and Real teams, the German national sides of the 80s and 90s. And before anyone jumps, I’m not suggesting we are as good as them, just that we have that winning mentality.  I would also point out last night we had 70% possession, 4 times as many shots and 5 on target to their 1 so over the game it was hardly ‘lucky’.

You’ve claimed this many times - and many times I’ve said I don’t recall this but all the same if I said anything out of order I apologise. I do have a hazy recollection of a discussion about how Jack Walker was likely delighted he was still living ‘rent free’ in the Burnley fans heads, I don’t recall celebrating his death on here or anywhere else.

But I’m amazed that despite your claims I wasn’t banned. If anything this place was less accommodating back then than it is today - and today opposition fans are removed for stepping over the line.
