Seems to me Dickov would make a better sub than a lone striker. There's just no flow offensively. It's just hustle, work and hope. He's not fast enough to overcome his lack of size. It might be wise to use his energy late in games when you need a goal. As far as Todd and Nelsen dealing with the Henry's and RVN's of the world: Seems to me the only central defender Henry hasn't skinned in the last three years is Sol Campbell. And the only one RVN hasn't turned is Rio. You have to score against these teams if you want points.

Please, no offense meant, but how much experience do you have observing MLS? Like any league it has good sides and dreadful sides, but anyone who has watched the league with any interest the past two years can not at all be surprised by Nelsen's success. His strengths are not reliant on his team mates and are transferable to any team playing any style. In fact what surprises me is some of the dead weight drawing a pay check in the lower half of the Premiership.

I believe he will be the full time skipper by next season. The man can flat out lead. I'd like to say he was representative of MLS, but that wouldn't be true. He was exceptional here, and I believe his qualities will make him exceptional wherever he goes. Cheers Admiral Nelsen! (Honorary Yank? Maybe not, but DC United forever!)

Seems to me if you're going to play 2 small pacy players up front (Dickov, then Johnson) you have to find a way to get them into space. Sending them high balls is pointless. If that's the best service the MF can provide, then you need some height up front. That said, if effort and work rate counted as goals, Dickov would lead the EPL in scoring, but it doesn't. Perhaps he could come in as a late striker when his energy can create something towards the end of the match. So few striking options... Emerton plays as if he were fast, not the lumbering MF that he is. He's not dreadful, just seems like his style doesn't match his tools. Nelsen was superb. Granted he's my favorite, but he simply won every ball in his area, and sent a few dangerous balls forward (where they came to nothing). I think I saw Freidel reading the Sunday Times at one point, little to do.... Ref did a fine job...

Despite my earlier slag on Nelsen's speed, I can now safely take it back. He has at least as much pace as any of his team mates, and could easily run past Matteo, Todd, and Neill using crutches. This is certainly a squad with grit, but not a clue how it's going to score. And it's not just the forward(s). The advancing MF's could create nothing. Granted Chelsea is stout at the back...

Glad to see all the cheers for Nelsen. Pure class in attitude and fortitude, and as long as he avoids a footrace with Henry or Robben, you can count on him. Looking forward to watching the game myself here on delay shortly.
