  1. I've applied for my Mastercard today, so should be able to apply in three weeks time when it comes through.

Question for those "in the know":

How rigorous are the checks that your identity matches the name on the tickets? Was planning t try and get to more than 7 matches, so were were considering ordering tickets in two sets of names. It says on the site that checks will be made at random and you need proper documentation. I'd like to avoid buying tickets, going, and getting refused entry to the ground. Is it an idle threat? What would you reccomend?

I wouldn't think it would be a problem, I know they didn't check the names on tickets for games at Euro 2000 and Oklahoma said that they didn't check the names at Euro 2004 either.

  2. Even though I live on the other side of the planet, I'm so pumped about this laugh.gif

Snowball's chance in hell of it being shown in TV in Australia though dry.gif

pg, ESPN in Australia have been showing FA Cup games, so if the game is on at midday UK time, the chances of them showing the game are pretty high.

  3. As the Rovers game against Arsenal on Saturday the 19th of March will be televised at a decent time of night (23:45), I thought it would be a great idea to organise a get together, this time in Melbourne. This gives Australian based Rovers' fans chance for to meet fellow Roverites.

We could meet up before the game, have a meal, some beers and then hopefully see a Rovers' home win. rover.gif You can even make a weekend of it, tell the wife/girlfriend that the shopping is great in Melbourne and then later tell her you're off to the pub Saturday night to watch the football.

The only pub I know in Melbourne that would show the game is the Keepers Arms on the corner of Queensberry and Peel Street North Melbourne, but the Melbourne guys might have a better suggestion than that.

So how about it? Airfares are cheap and the accommodation wouldn’t be too expensive as the weekend of the 19th isn’t Australian Grand Prix weekend.

  4. Here’s another view of Corporations donating money from the Corporations shouldn’t do this all the time point of view.

    Also this quote might be what cynics (or maybe realists), think the real reason for some of these donations;

"Where their businesses are dependent on those sorts of markets there could possibly be a benefit for shareholders in them making donations to relief,"

I would think that the majority of shareholders would prefer that money would be donated to a worthy cause, rather than into the pockets of directors and CEOs.

  5. The problem is that Australia's defense can't defend dead ball situations. You only have to look at the goals conceded during the Venzuela and Ireland game.

Australia was lucky to get away with a draw! The first goal was clearly offside, but somehow the assistant referee thought it was Ruud who got the ball...

I will admit he might of been a millimetre offside

Second goal, Viduka cant turn like that? I have never seen a fat poteto turning so quickly! Also it was a clear penalty, it was ludicrous that the ref just let it pass so that they could score!

Maybe that what people called, playing the advantage.....

Two good goals didnt prove enough aginst the cheating Australians, but we will get you next time..

Maybe this line only comes after your bold prediction was way off.

    Australia 0

    Norway 3

Sorry lads, but we are way too strong for you atm! cool.gif

All the Aussies here said that it was going to be a close game, and if it wasn't for Skoko shocking shot at goal in the second half or Cahill's missed header..... rolleyes.gif

  6. Well the Australian team has been announced;

Mark Schwarzer, Lucas Neill, Tony Vidmar, Tony Popovic, Stan Lazaridis, Josip Skoko, Tim Cahill, Marco Bresciano, Brett Emerton, Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell.

Substitutes: Scott Chipperfield, Ahmad Elrich, Vince Grella, Zeljko Kalac, Steve Laybutt, Jonathan McKain, Kevin Muscat, Mile Sterjovski, Danny Tiatto.

    My prediction, a 1-1 draw!

  7. ------------  Brad  -------------

    ---  Neill  -  Short  -  Todd  -  Gray  ---

    Bert  -    Flitcroft    -  Ferguson  -  Reid

    ---------- Djorkaeff ------------

    ----------  Stead  -------------

No wonder Rovers are in trouble we have the guy on the left playing in our team

  8. Must confess the booing of the Welsh Anthem was so bad, I turned to watching the Scotland game. When are the English going to grow up?

Grow up? You didn't like it so you spat the dummy and changed the channel? Almost every nation will boo the opposition national anthem, especially in a game between two countries so close together.

I know there's a few people who think that Australian's are convicts and knuckle-draggers, but booing the opposing anthem would never happen here. But hey it's different here in Australia, fans from opposing teams can sit next to each other without too much trouble.

I just think that there's a simple rule, when it's your anthem, sing it loud and proud, but when it's the opposing teams show some respect and stay silent!

As for the game, England never looked like losing and Wales were terrible.

  9. I remember Korn - terrible. laugh.gif

(although Word Up really is a new low, even for them)

Agree Radagast, they must really desperate after their last album tanked, to cover a dodgy song like "Word Up". Maybe someone should go up to Korn and tell them that their 15 minutes of fame has finished?

Also, am I alone in worrying about the amount of very bad cover songs happening at the moment?

Happy 64th Birthday John Lennon rolleyes.gif

  10. OK, I have a question for you BRFCC.

What single incident do you think contributed most to the police suspecting you enough to believe they could get a banning order against you ?

I'm a big privacy advocate and object strongly to recorded, tracked and monitored by the police. I'm tracked, not because I've done anything wrong, but because I share common details (such as where I drink, which games I attend, what I wear etc) with those that do. I'd like to know what makes the jump from just another stat to being enough of a treat to be worth trying to get a banning order for.

I would say Designer clothes because that is how pathetic the police are. That is the only way they can describe a football hooligan.

So simple way to fix it, dress like this guy
