  1. If you're a sad history buff like myself you might like some of these alternative history novels.

The Forsight War - Anthony G Williams

A rather good concept well thought through. Even if the original conceit is rather ignored. I just ran with it and was well rewarded.

Fox on the Rhine - Niles and Dobson What would happen if Rommel had been less badly hurt by an air attack and the Bomb plot had succeded in killing Hitler.

    With

Fox at the Front - Niles and Dobson

As the sequel running from the end of the battle of the bulge, to the end of the war.

The Battle for Japan - 1945

1945 - Robert Conway Which is about the end of the war against Japan if the coup after the atomic bombs had succeeded.

MacArthur's War - Douglas Niles and Michael Dobson A book about the Pacific war if Midway had gone Japan's way. Quite an unflatering view of Douglas MacArthur, which is probably very accurate.

  2. A lot of people might have seen this at the cinema but I've finished reading Danny Wallace's 'Yes Man!'. What a funny yet adventurous read it was. I'm not sure whether the movie is different from the book or not but hopefully a lot of people will now read the book after seeing the film. A few people have mentioned that it's similar to a book called 'The Dice man' or something so hopefully might purchase that book soon. Anyone else read them?

    Dice Men is utterly rubbish

  3. back to product placement - Jag and Aston were still owned by Ford at the time.

I might be wrong but the only non ford brand I saw in the film was two police Skoda's that turn up to arrest the police chief in the market square outside the Casino.

Moonraker is patently the greatest Bond Film.

"Bond, what do you think you're doing?"

    "I think he's attempting re-entry Sir"

  4. bit touchy not particularly, I meant to stick a ;) at the end of it, but I was so aghast at the football that I forgot. And be carefull about calling people thick, they might ask about educational achievements. Still there's nothing wrong with Peter and Jane books and I'll fight anyone who tells you otherwise ;)

And unlike you, I'm quite happy to try all types of books, if they're good I'm happy to admit it and if they're rubbish I'll tell you about it too. Just because its a genre doesnt mean that its awful or good.

Although anything by Kate Moss (Labyrinth author not the columbian marching powder [alledgedly] one) is just an extreamly large pile of dung that wouldnt be fit to be used as bedding for incontinent rabbits.

You wont like his books, but anything by Dan Abnett is well worth the read, an excellent writer
