  1. After 32 games last season, we had 31 points. We had just lost to Portsmouth (H), Liverpool (A) and Leeds (H), and were deep in the brown stuff. Four consecutive wins saw us take 13 points from the last six games to finish on 44 points in 15th position.

At the moment, we have 36 from 32 and stand in 14th position. I'll take 13 points from our last six games quite happily. I reckon that would give us an 11th place finish.

  2. I watched the game on Saturday without commentary, and I just thought it was a normal game of football, with no more bad challenges than you would find in a normal Premier League game. Those challenges which were of an over the top or cynical nature were rightly punished by cards, and not another word needs to be spoken.

Well played Rovers for still being in the game going into the last ten minutes against far superior opposition. Onwards and upwards.

  3. To be fair to Amoruso, we have yet to see him play in behind our new protective midfield setup. When he was playing earlier in the season the defence was under far too much pressure, and pressure is bound to force errors.

We will not see him play until Todd or Nelsen become injured or suspended. He will have to decide whether he wants to stay at Blackburn as cover or move on. It wouldn't surprise me if he chose to look for another club. I'm sure Sparky wouldn't stand in his way.

  4. but lets be honest i dont think you fans would begrudge us getting a trophy would ya??

.....oh how wrong you are! laugh.giflaugh.gif

It just wouldn`t be springtime if you didn`t see geordies crying their eyes out on the telly after yet another humiliation.

....Infact, the first crying geordie i see, i`ll be straight onto the BBCnature 'springwatch' website & telling Bill Oddie

  5. If there is a place that does real ale, the local brewary, Brains, does a great beer called Revrand James.

Look out for Bullmastif beers too. They do a lovely stout called Welsh Black. That's if you have any time to drink beer while you're in Cardiff, what with the daft kick off time and all that.

  6. I accept families are hindered by the cost, travel, time etc. However, my big gripe, as stated on another thread, is that come saturday, every pub in blackburn, darwen, accy etc will be packed with plastic rovers fans p***** their money away, at the same time complaining how they couldn't afford to go.

So let's do the sums, shall we?

    £45 for the ticket + £4 booking fee (FFS) + £50 (ballpark) for a train (it's probably more) + £20 sundries make it a minimum £119 spend.

Watching it in the pub - I would watch it at home but I can't afford the £35 or whatever it is per month for sky - 4 pints @ £2 a pint = £8. After I've finished paying the mortgage and nursery fees and everything else this month, I think I can just about afford that.

Let it be known that the first thing I did when the kick off time was announced was look into the cost of tickets, times and costs of trains. I just can't afford it. I imagine many others are in exactly the same situation as myself.

  7. Interesting to see the LET reverting to the use of roman numerals.

In the meantime, Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt is the latest striker to be linked with a summer move to Rovers.

The 24-year-old Feyenoord star, who is the top scorer in the Dutch League this season with xx goals, is thought to be one of the players on Hughes' short-list of five.

  8. Actually...

Match bans following an accumulation of yellow cards (5, 10, 15, etc.) will come into effect seven days after the last card, rather than 14 days.

Since the game kicks off at 3pm this Saturday, and 12:15 next Saturday, he might get away with it. Open to debate. I'm guessing he would be banned.

  9. Anyone sent off will miss the semi and Dickov is one yellow away from a ban.

Does a yellow tomorrow mean he would miss the semi?

Yes. He would have a two match ban for accruing ten yellow cards in domestic games for Rovers this season. I believe the ban starts six days after the offence, so that would rule Paul out of the semi. The chances of Dickov getting to the end of the season without picking up that crucial tenth card are slim to none.

Do we have any other players on four or nine cards?

  10. Greed is killing this game . Is it any wonder people watch the game in the boozer ?

Balls to that. I'll be watching it in my living room and drinking home brew. That's how skint I am.

Well I'm too skint to afford Sky Sports. And my living room has skirting boards missing and needs a lick of paint.

Oh ######, is it not on BBC? I'll have to smuggle my home brew into the pub.
