We were daft enough to pay four million for an ageing 34 year old Colin Hendry. You reaped the rewards then but now it's a case of once bitten twice shy. I believe Rangers can get Fergie for £4 million and make a profit on that particular deal.
Ferguson's true value is currently around the £4 million mark - don't think many on here would disagree. If you paid over the odds for him then tough - live with it. Teams make mistakes when buying players - and Rangers should know - after all, we bought Hendry.
Rangers had to pay over the odds for Hendry. Rovers didn't want him to go. They had to make an attractive offer to prise him from our hands.
If Rangers really want Ferguson, they will have to do likewise.

if you go round the various message boards of the premiership clubs how many fans will support savage and how many will think that what he has done supports they views on why he is hated so much
end of the day it is blackburn rovers v the rest of england from now on concerning robbie savage, you should of seen how resentful the leicester fans were of savage when we played em a yr last december
Water off a duck's back, mate.

Think we are due some luck to be honest!
We'll have less of that.
Souness has gone now.
-
Great second aswell from distance.
Great???
Good dummy by Gallagher.
-
What the hell is Matteo playing for? He should be 4th choice left back, I hope it's just because it's the FA Cup.
I looks like Matteo is Sparky's first choice for left back. When he's available, he's in the side. He seems to have put out the strongest available side in respect of all the other positions, so I don't see why he would be resting Johansson.

From the radio commentary, it sound as though a diagonal ball was sent into the box by Thompson, which Gallagher nearly got on the end of. Gallagher's presence was enough to put off the keeper, and it bounced between Gally and the keeper and drifted straight in. Flukey, they said.

I think we ned...
It's "wee ned".
That's "little chav" in English.

If, as that report suggests, Rangers are offering £3m plus the balance on the debt, I say bite their hand off.
Okay... hold out for another 1/2 - 1 million. Then bite their hand off.
-
Just sounds like Savage saga to me ?
The difference between the Savage saga and this one is that Birmingham have had good service from their man and they have made a tidy little profit.
We have had precious little service from wee ned, we have paid his wages whilst nursing him back from injury, and now it seems we are being forced to sell him back to the same club for a whopping loss.
-
Cheer up, Nayef.
We won without him on Saturday. We now have Savage, Thompson, Flitcroft, Tugay, MGP, Emmo and Reid. There's a midfield in there somewhere!
-
I can't tell whether you're being sarcastic or not.
-
Or just maybe
Rangers buy him for £3m, and THEN Souness steps in, after half a season and offers them £8m.
It COULD happen!
Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if that happens. The Newcastle board may have something to say about it if Boumsong doesn't live up to his transfer fee.

Go back to Cuba and come back in May.

sounds rude - I still think some people arent givng full credit to all the good stuff Souness did for the club, last 18months of us not getting relegated or going bust not included.
The only problem is, Flopsy, that the last 18 months are included and, it would appear, we are still counting the cost. The more you look at it, the more it would appear GS and his pal Murray were quietly taking us to the cleaners.
My only solace is that he is now doing the same to Newcastle.

Hey m8 do not every believe what is written in the Daily Record its nearly always wrong.
It is a direct quote from JW.
To fabricate that would be libellous.
-
Must admit - I'm a wee bit worried over the timing of this. Birmingham have been really knarked about the whole Savage thing & they could decide to just let him rot in the reserves for the remainder of the season and thus weakening one of their main rivals.
Savage will be playing against Bolton on Monday. Don't worry.
-
Benhben.
We don't owe them £2.5m. We owe them less than that, according to JW in this morning's Daily Record. This final payment is due in August.
The bid was £3m; Rangers were proposing funding the bid by writing off the remaining debt and paying us the balance.
-
Nice one, Cookie!
-
There is no way that Souness is going to get into a bidding war with his pal Murray. If Souness does come in, I expect Rangers to disappear from the equation instantaneously.
-
We therfore whould sell him as close to his REAL value.
We want more than that!!!
-
Thanks, Eddie.
That's the kind of posture I hoped we would adopt. We need to hope that other clubs come into the bidding now to get the price up.
I'll tell you what. If Newcastle come in now there will be no doubt of a collaboration between Murray and Souness to unsettle Ferguson. I don't think this is the case, though.
Come on, Moyesey...

Source, Eddie?

I think the smart money is on Andy Todd.
Unless Sparky decides it has to be Sav, but I doubt it.
Ferguson Hands in Transfer Request
in Messageboard Gold
Posted
I am of the opinion that any negative reaction by the fans towards Ferguson will only serve to weaken our position. If the board reject his transfer request as expected, I am sure he will understand why. I am convinced he was expecting Rangers to make a serious offer for him. There is little point in hanging onto him if he will not receive the support of the fans.
The midfield pairing of Savage and Ferguson has real potential. Don't stop this from happening.
