  1. Well, I feared the worst for this season when we suffered back to back 4-0 league defeats, one of them at Ewood to a team that lost 4-1 to West Brom yesterday.

Middlesbrough lost 3-1 at home to Southampton yesterday.

It was Charlton who lost 4-1 at home to WBA.

I doubt our loss to Boro would have been so heavy were it not for Tugay's first half dismissal. I also doubt the margin of Charlton's defeat would have been so severe had they not played most of the game with ten men.

  2. I think there should be a series of two or three tracks to be played up to a triumphant entrance song.

The same group of songs in the same order every week, fans would get used to the songs and the order.

The third track which would therefore be played ten minutes before kickoff should be......

    and I will be slaughtered for this;

'Avenues and Alleyways' the theme tune from the 1970's TV show the protectors.

The fans could say 'Oh No its this rubbish on again, must be ten minutes to kick off better drink up and get to my seat.'

I think the song is that bad it's good, lines like,

'Where the strong and the quick alone can survive'

Ah they don't write songs like that anymore.

    I adore that song. Seriously.

  3. Newcastle play the second leg of their UEFA Cup quarter final on Thursday 14th April. As of this morning we know that game will take place in Lisbon. To ask them to play an FA Cup semi final within 48 hours would not be good. Within 72 hours is bad enough.

Why they can't play our semi-final that weekend and the other one the following weekend is totally beyond me.

  4. I think if they want to scrap replays for certain clubs in certain rounds, they should scrap ALL replays in those rounds. Having one rule for one and another for everyone else is a recipe for disaster.

  5. Set pieces - MGP's corners always seem to be low (even against leicester).

I think he worked that out about 20 minutes from time last night. Two free kicks, which represented our only real chance of nicking a goal, sailed right over everyone and out for goal kicks. Not good. Needs to find his range.

If we can sort out the delivery from set pieces, I think we are good enough in the air to start scoring more goals.

  6. OUTS

Gray-Not up to Prem standard anymore

Amo- I'm sorry youre too clumsmy and slow

Short- Whether he will retire or not is one thing , but make him a coach or move on

Tugay-Great player at Rovers , but can see him gong back to play in Istanbul

Gresko- A player of great potential ( you don't play for , Bayer, Inter or Parma if you're a mug) but hasn't cut the mustard

    Douglas-Not up to prem standards

Emerton- Yes Emerton , if we can get 4mill for him and replace him with i.e Routledge we have Thommo and reidy to fill in also, too inconsistent

Flitty- For the reported wages hees on dosent represent good value any longer -Replace with a younger model

Gally- Im sorry but i've tried with him , he just dosent do it for me, never done anything to suggest he has a prem future

Dickov- thanks for all your efforts paul but you'll turn 34 next year and if rovers want to succeed we will need better quality up front ( not to say i dont like him, because i think he is one of the main reasons while we will stop up, just his age and quality lets him down )

Bothroyd- are u Heskey but 10 times worse

    Keep them

Nissa- I think has done a steady jobso keep him

Matty? Im not reminiscing about the old timesI dont think hees been given a fair crack of the whip, whats 1 yr extension gonna hurt, he still gives 110% and is still young ( needs to take a pay cut though )

Can't agree on many points here...

Out: Gray, Amo, Short, Tugay, Bothroyd - fair enough. Too long in the tooth or not good enough.

Gresko needs another chance with a proper left-sided midfielder, which we now have. It would be utterly stupid to spend all that time and money getting his cruciate sorted out, then give him away in the summer. He wouldn't command a very big transfer fee, if any at all.

Douglas showed in the latter stages of 2003/4 that he has the potential to be Premiership standard. How can you say that he isn't on the basis of a handful of appearances this season? Keep him, loan him out if he's not quite in the first team squad.

Emerton. Who's going to pay £4m? For the fee we'd get I think we'd be better off with him in the squad.

Flitty. Blue and white through and through. Would die for the shirt. Combative midfielder who showed yesterday that he can still play a big part.

Gally. Being made a scapegoat for the recent lack of goals. You try playing alongside Dickov. Still has a lot to offer.

    Dickov has earned another season.

    Keep Jansen? Sentimental claptrap!

Keep Nissa. No problem at all with that. I don't know what the lad has to do to earn a bit of credit.

If we get rid of everyone you suggest we'll have a smaller squad than Burnley! Wierd that just as things start looking up, everyone has to go...

  7. "The Clarets were more than a match for their hosts and were arguably the better side in the second half."

Yes, I think you'll find a few thousand people who would argue with that, actually. Funny how the "reporter" cannot point to a single scoring opportunity for Burnley during this period of "domination".

"Blackburn had run out of ideas long before Morten Gamst Pedersen fortunately struck the winning goal."

Yes okay. MGP was actually aiming for the corner flag, but fortunately for lucky Rovers it nearly ripped the back of the net.

  9. Fair play you`ve won 2-1 BUT savage should have been off in first few minutes (again!)

    Aye, reeto... rolleyes.gif

The first yellow is for the slightly mistimed tackle, and presumably the second is awarded just for being Robbie Savage. Is that right?

I did like his posturing towards your fans before the kick off. I found it quite hilarious, in fact. He was ###### in the first half though, I'll give you that.

  10. does any one know how much rovers will make on this game

Well, if they win, FA Cup prize money will be up from £60k to £120k. If we can get past Leicester it's £300k. A final appearance will net the Blues a cool £900k.

Gate receipts will be around £570k. Subtracting costs and splitting the leftovers will probably net both clubs around 200k. All ballpark and guesswork, of course.

    Wolves 07-09-1999 £3500000
