  1. You're telling me mate, I'm exiled in Falkirk. Since they moved to the other side of town my local club is East Stirling FFS. It's tough because there's so much money in London that clubs can get away with charging fortunes plus while there's a huge local rivalry it's more diffuse. I'm guessing that if you're from Darwen you're Blackburn, Nelson - Burnley and Leyland - Preston? Chorley - Bolton? Althought clubs in London are rooted in their local community they can draw support from all over, plus the commuter belt. Arsenal are less rooted in their local support, being a South London club in truth
  2. Agreed, but it wasn't not me trying to big us up, I'm just curious as to plans you guys have had for getting people into the ground.
  3. Spurs have been essentially overcharging their fans for years based on the entertainment they've been getting but we've been blindly paying - the difference over the last couple of years has been (a) we feel the club is going in the right direction and ( we recognise that we cannot increase our ground capacity without local transport improvements and to compete at the top level with our stadium's size we need to raise individual prices. Fans have, grudgingly, accepted this. The difference is that we've been filling the place for years - I would have thought that if your gates are really only 55% of capacity (is this right??) then you'd be trying loads of incentives for kids, OAPs etc. Is this the case?
  4. He was only ever meant as a stopgap before Shearer.
  5. It's an OK site, you just have to take it with a pinch of salt.
  6. We're debating this at the moment. The problem is that we have a lot of players either injured or returning from injury - for example there's still a (very unlikely) possibility that Ledley might make a return against either yourselves or Chelsea. I think BMJ will be tempted to play Keane & Mido - not so much to rest players but he needs to keep everyone happy and they were scintillating in the first half against Lyon. Keane is coming back from injury but looked excellent when he replaced Defoe on Saturday. We now have a very large squad and it's obvious that it's not a question of resting players against weaker opposition in the Premiership nowadays as everyone can beat everyone, certainly in the middle & lower echelons (where we both are, frankly). I expect Mido & Keane to play.
  7. Some kind words. We've really not been at all convincing so far, but there's always the chance we might ignite like we did in the first half against Lyon. I still think 1-1 looks likely - but I'm chuffed that Dickov & Bellamy will be missing as they can be awkward @#/?s to play against. Stalteri has looked very good and I hope he will contain Pedersen but the worry is if things start going against Spurs. We are a very young side with a couple of real hotheads who are likely to lose it.
  8. Spurs view: haven't seen anything more than the highlights of your last match but it looks like you played very well. We've got an awful lot of injuries already but having invested in a number of decent young players we should be able to put out a good side. So much will depend upon how Davids & Savage works out - I can see Davids or Tainio picking up a red card easily. We've not been entirely convincing in picking up the first two wins but there is still enough class up front for us to be confident of getting a result round your way. So. 1-1 I reckon - we'll have a back-up CB pairing playing that could be exposed plus our midfield might get sucked in to some spiteful battles. It's going to be a really tight game.....if it stays at 11 vs 11!
