I agree with you RB and, yes, the club should be providing those who need it with a commentary, especially if there is an audio stream available. Modern technology should make this relatively simple. Rovers have a tremendous record in providing for the disadvantaged and one must hope this is not the thin end of the wedge.

I would hope, but don't know, this action could be challenged under the Disability Discrimination Act?

My point though stands for years Radio Rovers has been derided on BRFCS and never praised for the service it provided to the visually impaired.

Personally I had never thought of this aspect to RR. I can't help but ask myself how many others would be in the same position and are currently amongst the outraged?

I don't really get what your point is here, is there something wrong with people being outraged?  I never thought about the blind fans but now it has been pointed out it seems pretty poor, especially the way it has been done, certainly the communication needs to be better.

Also lots of people complain about Rovers and their football of recent years but we don't want it taken away.

Being abroad most of the time I've listened A LOT via Rovers player, and sometimes complained and been annoyed but I've kept on paying for it.

I'm an overseas fan for this game, I'm in tokyo so should be on around 11 tonight if worked it out right. Can I get it on my phone? Do you need a registered address overseas? Has anyone cracked how to get this in England?

if you go to the site there should be customer service online before the game

  3. Is radio Rovers done or just not broadcasting on am/fm?

i listened to the Coventry game and Neil was down my the commentary on his own but still there

whilst the interviews questions were generally rubbish, lots of leading questions that almost answered themselves, I have a soft spot for Neil's commentary, generally for a club's radio and the restrictions that would naturally put on it (especially under venkys) I thought it was good. Maybe a bit biased and occasionally frustrating but I'd be disappointed if he was replaced, I've been listening for years and years due to being abroad.  Ed, on the other hand, talks a fair bit of rubbish and sees everything blue and white specs, I'd be genuinely surprised if he got paid as he just seemed like an intern or Neil's mate

Good win. A win is a win.

From Fans there at the game Smallwood was the best player on the pitch. Also Caddis, Samuel and Gladwin(when he came on) all had good games.

Also people say we look better playing 3 at the back

Whilst it's always great to win, we should be beating a L2 side that made SIX changes, so it's not surprising that we looked better than the weekend, and whilst 3 at the back ,ay have worked well it would be silly to use this game as evidence to say we look better with 3 rather than 4.

Having said that with TM's preference for the full backs to play really high and provide width whichever formation he seems to play it might be better to have 3 in there rather than two.

I don't think Williams or Nyambe are particularly good full backs but I think TM's tactics may make them look worse.

What happened to the full match replay that was supposed to be available ( for o/seas fans on full subscription)  the day after the match, yes I did watch it live but wanted to see if the replay was better quality than the stream.

You can access it through matches the first team results.

Same as live, mo commentary or anything different so worse than the old player.

Also makes it much harder to not see the result as through desktop at least the status bar has little footballs showing when a goal is scored.

Am I the only person who sometimes will watch the game the nest day having avoided seeing the result (which is getting much easier the worse we get :( ) ?

Although it is great to be able to see matches live and the stream was fine (I was in Ireland with Astrill vpn set to Netherlands) no commentary even on the replay (which you have to wait almost 20 hours for) is poor.  It's not a cheap service but am I being greedy?

  6.

Tomlinson looked almost ready in preseason in 2015, so it's good to hear he's really progressing now.  Lowe isn't much of a footballer so I'd like to see Tomlinson on the pitch at some point over the weekend.

Steele has been worse than usual recently so Raya should be given another chance, I would have liked to see him given the chance at the start of the season as at least he should improve and Steele has been going backwards.

Mahoney, whilst still having a lot to learn, has played well since getting in the team and should be ahead of Feeny and Conway in my opinion, sure he makes mistakes but he created several chances on Saturday at least one should have been scored.

  7. Absolutely awful what's happening in Turkey...

Loved Howard Gayle, almost as much but not quite as much as Scott Sellars, it was at that time I first started going to matches. It's a pity the honours system is so anachronistic and dodgy (just a few, most well deserved) and lots of respect for HG turning down the MBE.

  8. O'Sullivan said in a tweet that he's still working his way back to match fitness at the moment, so I hope he gets the chance to find the form that so impressed Barnsley fans last season. I've not seen him do anything outstanding yet but he's hardly had much of a chance at Rovers. I had hoped Bowyer would give him a run of 2 or three games at the end of last season but that wasn't to be. It doesn't look like he'd be a superstar for us but there's still a chance he might be a useful player, maybe like Judge, he needs a bit more football.

Petschi has looked quite good for the U-21s from what people say and my own limited viewing ( 1 full match and some highlights ) he definitely looked like he had something about him, some potential, hopefully in the 6 months he has left he shows enough improvement.

I don't really get it but sometimes it feels like we are keen to right off some players rather than give them as much of a chance as possible.

  9. Start a promotion thread then mike

Neal, I'm no fan of the manager... Did you not read what I wrote? He's not very good just not terrible... Does that sound like I think we will get promoted?

Maybe I didn't express myself clearly enough, I think the manager is poor but the squad is decent. Even more than that I think there's a lot of poor teams in this league.

  10. I think most people are speculating we will get relegated because of the manager.

I honestly don't know who we could bring in to replace Rhodes given our spending limitations. Every manager in the league is looking for a 20+ striker.

Yeah, I'm quite angry with him at the moment, wouldn't cry if he left, but even if he's not very good, I don't think he's terrible. Plus I think if things go poorly enough he'll leave of his own accord.

It's far too early to say but going off how close he's come to scoring in two sub appearances, we might have a 20+ striker already in Koita.

  11. No way

But if a bold statement that ..

It is but have a relegation thread is a bit silly isn't it?

If Rhodes scores his 20+ goals again where are the other goals going to come from? Having to score two or three a game to win will be the norm this season and we just don't have the capability.

IF Rhodes stays, I think he'll score more, if he leaves I think we will get someone in who can score a few, also Koita looks like he might be pretty good. As good as JR and Rudy were last season, it's a team game and we have finished 8th and 9th, not good enough but not awful. I think quite a few of the players are decent and after 2+ years the problem is the manager.

The BIGGEST factor against us getting relegated is that although we might be poor so is the league and there are 6 or 7 worse teams minimum.

  12. Even if Rhodes goes there's no way we are going down, I don't even think we'd be in a relegation fight. We lost to Wolves but we played well enough to draw and with a bit better from the officials we might have won.

What's most frustrating about the team is that individually we have quite a few good players.

  13. Can't believe so many people think DG is crap... As has been said before, he's been played mostly off the bench or on the wing or up front on his own.

Not every player has to be quick or big and strong. IMO he has talent, decent feet, good enough to make himself a yard of space and a good shot.

Played right, for us, he would have scored a decent amount of goals in this league, and whilst it will be more difficult at Palace he will probably still get quite a few.

If you don't think he's been treated shabbily, especially this season then... Edinho looks like he belongs in the academy team at best, I'd be furious if I was on the bench watching him play...

Hopefully, like others have said he'll get a few for CP and come back in January when Kean has gone and get a shot under a decent manager.

  14. I just want to add my voice to the Benni must stay camp. IMHO he isn't as lazy as some people say, and there is a lot more to his game than just poaching. He can hold the ball up well, when played to feet, he can pass well and is probably the most skillful player we have. Sure he isn't the best at closing down the opposition but he worked fairly hard against City and made an impact against Utd. Whilst moving him on might give us room on the wage bill there are so many players I'd rather leave before him. Still at the end of the day you get the feeling Sam doesn't like him but it would a be shame if he let him go.

  15. Despite his 'weight problems' Benni had a pretty good season, especially considering his use. Call him fat if you like, I don't where you get your figures from, call him lazy if you like, I'd like to see his stats because I think they might surprise, but he scores goals. Quite a few goals in fact. Lots of stats can be twisted or be unrepresentative but his goals and games stats are strong evidence of his usefulness and the contribution he makes to the team.

    PL games 18 ( plus 10 as sub ) 10 goals

This would be pretty good for most teams but coming at a team who struggled all season and finished in 15th I'd say they were very good.

    Cup games 2 ( plus 3 as sub ) 3 goals

All together 20 starts 13 subs 13 goals

    Those stats don't lie.

On the other hand he isn't getting any younger and if we got a good offer and Sam thinks he can get better with that money, great.

But for all the Benni bashers out there, have a think about what contribution he made this season alone before you get on his back.
