  1. Got to agree, he is the classiest player I've seen in the middle in blue & white, look at what he did to Gerrard & Co. against the Mickey Mousers this season, he bossed it and megged him twice.

His goals are always spectacular and when he show boats it's even better.

Just goes to show though, when he did have a dip in form, how much did we miss him? There was a HUGE void in the middle.

The other things that I like about our Turkish Delight are his attitude, his loyalty and his enjoyment of the game, especially when we are doing well, however, when we have to get stuck in he's right in there!

Not sure how you replace a guy like him, they'll have to be class that's for sure.

Total Legend, one of the few where you'd hold his shirt number until he approves a suitable replacement.

  2. Had to edit this:

"Well maybe he could be our fox-in-the-box, like Jeffers was when he started at Everton. "

And now franny is like the fox who has been caught and done over by a pack of half starved hounds, Matty D over " I can get sky on my ears" jeffers any day of the week! (Over riding factors: Wanting it & putting the effort in!)

  3. I reckon Jeffers will come good, the players in trainning say he has been on fire, it will be intresting to see what Hughes does when he is back fit, to see if he drops Nonda or not

I think the Dunn deal has already been done the way he was talking last night on SSN, i just hope he stays of them mince pies

I hope it is sorted, just so the press stop going on about it !! It's all they've done since sourness packed his bags, as for the mince pies, we'll see eh!

  4. THANKYOU!!! - I have been saying this since we sold him.

I think Sparky made a huge BLUNDER by selling Douglas at that point in time, we all knew we needed a new midfielder during the summer and 90% of us were screaming out for one to be purchased in the transfer thread. Everyone was saying dont worry, he knows what he is doing.... Were now getting into the season, hard games ahead, and were stuck relying on a woeful midfielder because Sparky didnt have a good backup plan incase of injury.

I think we have been LUCKY to be honest. Tuggs is getting on and he is fairly injury prone due to his playing style.

If he got injured then who would we play??

Im sorry, i just expect Premier League managers to have a backup plan if all else fails, and oweing to recent results, i really dont think Sparky has one...

    What????

Douglas has PROVEN that he is not good enough at this level, the other thing that you are failing to take into account is that if Hughes has people in line and he can't get them (Until January) then that's life, you don't keep people that plainly aren't good enough and you certainly don't just go and get someone else who isn't either, also, would you expect to have Reid out for such a length of time? No you wouldn't would you?

The axe has always been a utility player, Douglas wasn't even that.

Give MH's some credit, he's hardly done a bad job has he???!! We've hardly got a russian billionaire chipping in have we?!

Sometimes I wonder how some poeple's expectations are in anyway manageable, ever! ...

  5. Agreed, philipl, good post.

    The other differences were:

    Rio not playing in midfield

Bentley wasting opportunities (Had Bert stolen his Mrs or something?)

Our CH's missing free headers in their box

    Rooney missing his chances

Us not having Savage and/or Reid (We saw less of the ball, no one drove on from MF) (Also Miss the Admiral)

Us not having Roberts (Jeffers didn't appear to make Vidic cack himself TBH)

Vidic and Evra looked solid, no nonsense & efficient

Saha is far more a threat than RVN ever was.

Also add into the mix that Carrick cost considerably more than our entire squad you could say the gap between the top 2 (and it is 2 now) and the rest is widening and show's no sign of narrowing.

p.s. Utd play much better football than Chelski, however, Chelski are ruthlessly efficient IMHO, let's hope for a different league winner though.

  6. The problem is though that Mokoena never wins the ball. Throughout the last few games I have often thought that we may as well be playing with ten men. It's easy to say with hindsight but Douglas shouldn't have been sold until another centre midfielder was bought. He's definitely better in a 4-42 than Mokoena.

Sorry, had to laugh at this, "I want 4 years Douglas" isn't setting the world alight in the chumpionship is he? Can you imagine what Utd would have done to him (And us) on Saturday night?

The lads that have already mentioned the Savage link are bang on the mark, The Axe is the only option, for the record I thought he was okay against man ure, in fairness to him, he's hardly had a run in the team either has he?

As for Gally, Sub is his best bet in my view, was suprised he wasn't on the bench, Maybe Hughes thought that Bert wouldn't last (Neither did I when I saw how many times Bentley ignored his runs!)

  7. United should help us again, I vote they play Rio in Midfield again!

The lads need to get up for this, Utd are like anyone else, if you get into them, they don't like it and are as capable as losing the plot as anyone else, we need Brad to be on top form, a lot of luck, some bravery, a good ref and some effort

    ... So on 2nd thoughts.

  8. Can't remember one this season, but last game of last season Khiz the asylum seeker vs Man City?

Correct, however, Calamity James (Changed man @ Pompski?) did literally hand it them on a plate.

Our Corners (From an offensive & defensive point of view) are SHOCKING!

Our side is the only side I know where the opposition get dead excited when they get a corner awarded against them !

i.e. No one moves, no one makes early or late runs, the arms up in the air signals "Another one for you keeper" and you can see their forwards salivating at the prospect of the break away!

    :(

  9. Last post of the week (Promise  )

  10. RE: I blame the IT people (most things are their fault anyway)

    :wstu:

Complete & Utter Dangly Bits!

I bet the system & users (yes you still have them, even with all your technology) are being asked to do many things that it wasn't actually designed or specified for, easy fix though, but then again, someone would have to make a decision and put their head on the block & we don't want that do we, better to just make throw away & un constructive comments, much easier.

Easy get out clause for flakes IMO, especially ones that never RTFM.

I think the club are doing a cracking job with these incentives, nothing wrong with setting the agenda & taking the initiative, yes you get issues, but better to lead than follow surely !

    (Baaaaaaaaah)

    :rover:

    No kids around me.

Den , Did you wash & brush your teeth before the game though???

  11. I discussed this with one of the staff down there, this seasons initiatives have caused a few IT & Software issues it seems,

i.e. Season Ticket Holder, wants own seat, Cup Reduced, UEFA Cup Reduced, UEFA Cup x 2 Reduced, any combination or all of the above + or - Seniors, Juniors, Disabled etc etc.

Essentially, each IT user has to generate the enquiries and lock that seat / part of stand whilst they furnish all the requests, only then is it unlocked for the next user.

i.e. Sounds like they've had to bend the software in a hurry / on the fly and it isn't coping that well, needs a tune, cleanse & re index.

I could supply some guys to sort it but then again, not sure the Co Op Group would be too happy with all their stores, depots, outlets & customers stuff going to rat pooh in the interim, priorities though!

p.s. Everyone got their application forms for Feyenoord in? (1st come 1st served)

  12. Talking of moaning managers, actually, to one of the keynote speakers at the

Moaning Managers with Bad Sight & 4 Hands on their Watch (The 4th being the great big back hand)Conference

Have you seen what Allerdyce has been saying about tonights team selection, the upcoming Utd match and Champions League Spot !!!!

OMG, what is the world coming to? I don't even want to contemplate it!

Hope utd stuff them out of sight!

    :brfc:

  13. Who will be more nervous, them or us !!??

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put these cockney flakes to the sword Hughsie & Co. !!!!!

We've put the European Hoodoo to bed, can we please put the Charity Basket Case Hoodoo in the same scratcher please?

On paper (As long as we don't have any penalties!) we should be doing this lot, especially now, We should go with 3 up front and go for the jugular!

Roberts, Nonda & McCarthy Up front ?

(Axe, please take care of Sheringham early doors, thank you)

PLEASE BE RUTHLESS FOR A CHANGE!

    :rover:

  14. Anyone else read big sam's rant to sky about the ref almost costing them the game as he was affected by the crowd? Umm wasn't there two penalties eariler that we should have been PAID?

What are you insinuating Perth, Big Sam and Money Changing Hands?

In Summary, it was a tremendous advertisment for the game and our club, the ground was nearly full, the atmosphere was good, the last 10 mins unbelievable and we are getting all the plaudits from the press and the neutrals (Barring the penalty takers, naturally.)

SO, I'm happier because our team performed, because bar 10 mins after they scored (Natural?) we were far superior, we didn't cheat or time waste, our manager isn't seen as a baffoon, we just can't take penalties this year.

Now, the big question for me, What are Bolton going to do with the price of the return match? I ain't paying £39 effing quid again!

  15. Preston mate, whilst you make 1 slightly valid point, what are YOU LOT doing about your management @ the breezeblock? We took a damn sight more to your place than you took to ours (UEFA Cup point being a red herring as your club didn't do anything about ticket prices at all did they?) and we had to pay £39 to watch your lot hoof route 1 all afternoon and offer up the worst facilities on the planet to the way end, and we didn't hear a peep from you, even your own fans (Who I went the match with) agree that you are boring, there are lots of articles about it in your BEN, even Anelka confirmed it!

(Isn't he due to leave soon anyway, he's been at your gaff for ages LOL)

I'm looking forward to a good Derby game (It's unlikely though) and we are due to beat you at our place (You lot same the same about us at your gaff though) but we do have some slight differences:

    A Spitting, Diving Cheat

A Manager who's vision is more impaired than Wenger's used to be

    Brown Envelopes

Our club is still in our town, not in Chorley/Wigan

Oh, and we don't need any fireworks or a bunch of uncordinated slappers that you can't see for the smoke from the fireworks anyway, to generate the only atmosphere in our ground

Good luck from Monday onwards though.
