  1. Correct that man! £9k was seen as a decent turnout once upon a time, I'd say that we now say that level is at 19-20k, however, how bad is the away support at our place now?

Just see how many clampitts turn up to watch w*nky wanderers, have they booked last years taxi do you think?

Oh, I'm not going their either this year, £39 is a scam to go there and then be served by the one person in the one "Refreshment" stand, to stand in silence whilst trying to hear if their home fans exist whilst damaging my neck watching them hoof the long ball upto fat bloke, sulker & cheat up front.

    (Rant over sorry!)

  2. I think it's safe to assume that we'll be in large numbers and will be in Amsterdam for the most part, wouldn't it be nice (For a change!) IF we arev already through to be able to go their having already qualified and just have a good time?! And hopefully watch MH & The boys put them to the sword on the night.

I for one am REALLY looking forward to a good trip !!

    :brfc:

Are we organising a friendly with their supporters before hand ??? (In Amsterdam  )

Let's get into their supporters association and find out the score with them?

I do have a mate who can find out what the score is as far as their cops are concerned, worth an ask?

Bring on the cloggies I say, LOVE the place! (My claim to fame, Played for a Navy Youth side @ Vitesse Arnhem the season they qualified for Europe for the 1st time ever (Cup Winners Cup I think) and turned them over!

Scored the winner with the side of my face (Not deliberate but looked good apparently, face was sore for weeks!)

If you move away from your rainhole and in to the real Norway, Bjarte, you'd might get cheaper tickets.. the meetup idea was a good one, though.

Hang on herbergeehh, don't you have a much higher suicide rate, is he just swapping rain for something far worse !!

The more that meet up the merrier I say.

  3. Completely Agree with the positive posters on this thread, what more can the club do???

I'm a BBE ST holder and I don't mind a bit, it's the club that counts & not a couple of old un constructive moaners.

"Bums on seats" is what we need.

I'm bringing 2 others, one from Manchester and 1 from Lancaster.

Also depends how many the clampitt's bring though, their turn out last year was shocking, esp. when you look at how many we took to their library!

  4. I remember you used to loose money if you got knocked out in the first round or 2, not sure if that is still the case! With Millwall a coupla years back, i defo remember their chairman saying that they loose money if they go out in the first round which they did :D

I would guess we would stand to make a little bit of money from the group stage, i suppose it depends on the draw, ajax and rangers at Ewood would see tv and decent crowds coming our way, slavia prague and Fc Oslo* or something, probably not! :brfc:

    * Dont take names literally :rover:

Yes but where would you prefer to go on a night out though eh?

Slavia for me matey, Amsterdam, seen that done that, Glasgow ditto & Nooooooooooooooooo !!

  5. Excellent & thoroughly professional display last night!

ooijer is starting to look the business, can you imagine him & the Admiral, it'll be like the final bit of armour plating on a bomb proof defence (Then they have to get past Brad)

Is that the same Emerton???? He's looking the business, he allows Bentley what he needs (Space & time) by bombing on a covering back, his aussie mate on the other side just needs to sign now!

Like the front 2, improving all the time.

Sav & Tug's are also looking the business but everyone did their bit last night.

Good atmosphere, hopefully the walk-on's will keep coming and we can help turn round the attendances by maintaining an atmosphere.

    Well done MH & MB

(And finally the curse is broken!) **** off sourness :rover:

  6. Marv,

I mean this in the nicest way possible...

Since winning the Premiership we've been very much up & down the league position wise, however, we've had (Albeit brief) a few trips into Europe, we've won a cup @ The Millenium Stadium and been relegated & promoted, all (Bar the relegation) very gratefully received, however, the hard core of fans (Season Ticket holders & regulars) have stuck with it despite Mr Sourness etc.

Personally, and I think if you were in any way unblinkered, would not suggest that your supporters are less flakey than ours would you, I think they are, look at the decline in your gates? And you've been doing not so bad under cotterill?

Our supporters (Spoon fed or not) aren't that pre occupied with the past, you know your's are!

Last point, look at the difference in the respective boards, our have the club's at heart and remain realistic & innovative (Although not perfect), your's on the other hand?

    Onwards & upwards for us!

    :rover:

  7. Good performance, good result, see Ooijer got a special mention along with Sav & Nonda.

Emerton & Bentley looking good, Nonda & McCarthy can only get better in my view, Clean sheet will do our defence the world of good, esp. when injuries etc become available, Savage is now underlining why Hughsie wanted him so badly.

Well done to those that that predicted the score & correct scorer!

As for the "Won't play a poorer team all season" ?

I don't agree at all, yes Boro are up & down, but if you get at teams, a lot of them are very very average, there are a lot of teams their for the taking, TBH, if our defence continue to improve we will always nick more than the odd goal and we are a decent force at home, so I'm optimistic.

    :rover:

  8. Maybe I've just got used to MGP being anonymous, but even forgetting the goal(s) thought he was much improved. Just a couple of examples.... 1 - at the start of the second half, Hamann took him out with a pretty awful tackle (he got booked which I thought was pretty lenient) and I thought that was the last we'd see of MGP in the usual way he disappears after a kicking. But no. 2 - a bit later there was a genuine 50/50 ball on about half way, nothing much at stake. In he slid (can't remember who the City player was) and MGP emerged with the ball. Keep him on the raw meat diet Sparky ;) , it's starting to work.

It was sinclair, yes, no hiding from MGP in that challenge was there? Sav actually seemed to enjoy playing alongside the axe as well!

  9. I agree with most of the comments about yesterday's game, my summary:

    Friedel: Usual legend

Bert: Seems caught in 2 minds all the time, looked good going forward, spotted Gallagher v well for the 4th, I'd prefer to see him back at RM, I'd suspect he would rather be their too.

Lucas: A mixture of good and woeful

Both centre halves had a mare, no one took charge, rather Lucas played there than either or both of the current ones.

    MGP: Much improved

    Bentley: As above

Tuug's: Tired, needed to come off, give posession away too cheaply

Sav: Same old, worked tirelessly and still trying to get forward, kept bollocking Lucas about the back 4, spot on!

Jeffers: Too lightweight for me, created 1 good chance (After wasting 2 others) Glad he came off

Benni: Excellent WHEN he gets decent service, too many runs not spotted, diff. man when he scored, all about confidence

Axe: Excellent for me, did exactly what it said on the tin, v good sub by Hughes

Nonda: Like this guy, doesn't look fit yet, not sharp but made some good runs and made more impact by jeffers when he was warming up, linked up with Benni & Bert well.

Overall: If we can resolve some form of defence (Sharpish) looks good.

  10. You've signed a gem

We also have some other excellent players looking for a new challenge that you might be interested in paying too much for

Matteo is excellent, what do you reckon, 5 Mill?

Good luck to you palace, Shef' used to give every Sunday player hope that they could still cut the mustard one day !

Gives 100% ALL the time, causes chaos as he is quick considering his size, your opposition defenders will need more than tanks to stop him and he is great in the air, TBH I liked the guy, his celebration will be missed, scored VITAL goals for us last season. :rover:

  11. Darth mate, EXCELLENT post, completely agree.

Expect unpleasant things to befall the likes of Man ure, Spartak Kensington, Villa & Pompski.

I expect the likes of us and clubs like boro to be around for the long term.

6th for us is fantastic, another season like last or even better (With a decent Euro tour) would be amazing.

Keep your feet on the deck and support your local club or join the lemmings, simple as really.

TBH I'd really like it if the "Super" clubs did bugger off and form their own euro "Champs" league as it would bring back some norm and allow them to go away & self destruct with fewer re percussions for the rest of us.

Lets be honest, the bubble has to burst soon, crowds are down quite dramatically at most normal prem clubs already and this will get worse at the PL continues to over-do the hype and more glory hunters dive in for the vain clubs that are happy to sell out.

  12. Amen Phil !

A rare strand of realism in this post, yes, a few years ago we would have lost everyone who was touted, Reidy, MGP, Lucas (I know we still will at some stage) Emerton etc etc.

As it stands we are DEF' stronger than we were last year, the loan signing looks useful, At last we offload:

4 Year Contract Douglas (Mr Overrated)

Get rid of that useless Italian ponce

Let Vratty go (Let's face it, he was just too slow)

Got rid of Mr Moaning & Constantly Offside Dickov (Although I will miss him clattering their CH's every game)

& We get an experienced international CH in & 2.5 Mil for Shefki !!!!

(Where was MH's shop? Winter Hill??? What a good deal!)

We do look dangerous up front, and midfield is basically the same as last year, hopefully with Reidy & Bentley stepping up to the plate this year, MH will have something lined up for January in Midfield.

  13. Here is what I've found so far:

Providers to Salzburg (SZG) on 14th & 15th September:

    Manchester:

    Lufthansa

    BA

    BMI

    Glasgow:

    Austrian Airlines Group

    Edinburgh:

    Austrian Airlines Group

    BMI

    Lufthansa

    Belfast: (Honest)

    Austrian Airlines Group

    Others:

Luton, Gatwick, Heathrow & Stansted. (Note Ryan Air put their prices up on & around that day Sharpish!)

As I work for the Co operative Group in Manchester I'll be asking Travelcare what they are doing about it on Tuesday, I'll keep you posted. at least 2 of us are going from our part of the BE.

Another options seems to be to Munich (MUC) and easy drive down, Seems that Flights to Munich are more available & cheaper!

  14. dont forget- the enigmatic- carl cort!

i'm sceptical that JJ is up to championship standard (& if wolves are, for that matter).

he's been unconvincing whenever i've seen him (reserves/ first-team), but, if he does start scoring, and with wolves going through a bad time, he may become a hero.

he'd never have made it at rovers though. i still cant understand how he got offered a new deal, a couple of seasons ago.

Ref: i still cant understand how he got offered a new deal, a couple of seasons ago.

Depends on how much money we got for him, I wish him luck, even though I don't have too much time for Wolves.

You're right though, too lightweight and a bit lazy in my view.

  15. A flat salary cap?.......i thought that was something vegans wore?

Top 4, V. Boring IMO, although UEFA spot interesting as well as the dog fight at the basement

Champions league = 90% boring (Unless Barca are playing or the mickey mousers are turning Spartak Kensington over (Again!))

As for us this season, can't remember looking forward to a season so much for an age!

    (Passport out!)

  16. I can see:

    1. Chelsea

    2. Liverpool

    3. France

    4. Man U

    5. Spuds

    6. Rovers

    7. Everton

    8. West Ham

    12. Charlton

    13. Bolton

    14. Fulham

    15. Portsmouth

    16. Reading

    17. Man City

    18. Aston Villa

    19. Watford

    20. Sheffield Utd

    What I'd like to see...

    1. Rovers

    2. Liverpool

    3. Everton

    4. Wigan

    5. Man U

    6. Reading

    7. Chelsea

    20. Portsmouth

  17. They are just mirroring what everyone else is doing, (I don't agree either, for the record)

If we aren't careful we'll turn out like the clampits down at the breezeblock, £39 F'ing quid to watch that lot play a flat back 11 against us and we heard them once, got to be the worst atmosphere outside of Charlton, Man Ure, Chelski & Fulham !

IMO we should be charging the away fans what we are charged at their gaff, i.e. Stick the Sarvaners like Chelski, Man Ure & France stick us, why not.

Our club should be aiming to fill the ground for EVERY game with this extra Sky Dosh being how it is rather than stuffing it royally to the locals!

BRISA: GET INTO 'EM ! :rover:
