Quality find
I just love this sort of stuff.
At least we won!!
Although the scoreline differs from this page
Quite right! This proves that Blackburn Rovers 'invented' Football on TV. Maybe someone should claim royalties from Sky Sports.
Would be great...tv wasn't invented for quite a while after though, so I doubt we've much of a claim! This will have been made for the old projector screens. I can imagine the first armchair fans sitting in a 'cinema' to view it!

Sadly, for every David James, there are about 100 Craig Bellamy's.
Where? Let's sign them.
-
1. Chelsea (Yawn)
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal
4. Scumchester United
5. Tottenham Hotspur
6. Newcastle United
7. Blackburn Rovers
8. West Ham
9. Bolton
10. Portsmouth
11. Everton
12. Aston Villa
13. Wigan
14. Manchester City
15. Middlesborough
16. Charlton
17. Reading
18. Fulham
19. Sheff United
20. Watford
Mind, what Ive realised putting this together, is I really don't bloody know!! That middle section of the table is so interchangeable.

Just doesn't have the self-belief to be a good footballer. Creativity - 0. Athleticism - 9. Sell - please.
Actually, there have been moments when I've found him to be too full of self belief- prompting him to do ridiculous backheels to opposition defenders.
-
Skysports have an article on it also:
Hughes: "He has the ability to carry the ball from one end of the field to the other, and that's why other teams have coveted him this summer."
Do you think he means from the right to the centre of the field?
In a dream world, I was hoping we could get over 2 million for him and sign Gera. Oh well. Guess we can forget the club moving for a right winger who can actually play now.
-
Geez cant you write more then one line?
There's a considerable amount of irony in that one-line question. And I say irony because it's less confrontational than 'hypocrisy'.
-
I have to say I'm not entirely won over by this signing. His record seems to show that, goals-wise, he's a very erratic player. Last season he barely scored at all, and I feel we need somebody guaranteed to bag us more. Then again, perhaps his heart wasn't in at as much last year after his transfer fell through, or maybe he was trying to engineer himself into an affordable position. Hope it comes off though. I'd love to see us try and snap up Saviola too (partly funded by letting Kuqi go perhaps), then I'd be extremely confident about next year.

I'm currently Accringotn going into League One play-offs.
I'm currently unable to find the bloody disc for the game!

Let's put it in this perspective. Aren't Milan losing 44 points from last season, yet ending up one place out of Europe in a much tougher league?
Er, not sure, but if that's true, isn't it due to all the other relegated teams?
-
Wenger's dubbing of Jeffers as a 'Fox in the Box' should answer that question. He thought he was getting a young striker capable of bagging 20 goals a season in L'Arse's system.
Well sure, but a quick look at the, ya know, facts, should have demonstrated to him that he was only capable of 6.

98-99 Everton 6 Goals, 15 Games
99-00 Everton 6 Goals, 21 Games
00-01 Everton 6 Goals, 11 Games
01-02 Arsenal 2 Goals, 6 Games 2 Games (Champions League)
02-03 Arsenal 2 Goals, 16 Games 5 Games (Champions League)
03-04 Everton 0 Goals, 18 Games
04-05 Charlton 3 Goals, 20 Games
05-06 Glasgow Rangers 0 Goals, 4 Games (Champions League)
The sweat has increased x 10 on my brow and it aint the weather either!!
Got to wonder why the hell Arsenal paid 10 mill for him, his record at Everton wasn't exactly impressive. Seems that when he joins a club, a figure is randomly decided for him to score each season he is with them- he was only capable of 6 a season for Everton, and 2 a season for Arsenal. Wonder what it'll be for us...

Aye, saw both the sites I mentioned bring it up a little after I posted. Would love to know what the fee was before I decide whether it's a good or bad move. Obviously I hope for the former. The rovers site credits him with 14 goals for Wigan. I assume the other 6 were in cups. The season just gone was maybe the best he's had, too...
-
What's your source? Nothing at skysports.com or at the rovers official website, as I type.

Michael Owen Top Scorer
Woops, eh?

I really think so. The best goals are always played on loop almost everywhere on the run up to World Cups and I have never seen a goal like that one.
The edited highlight of the goal doesn't show all the assured passing (24 altogether) which was everything but ponderous.
What you talking about son? Best TEAM goal, you probably have an argument. But best goal? Nah. Maradona took the ball about as far ON HIS OWN, so that rubbishes that theory.
I'm not going to get into a cultural debate but Serbs aren't suited to the Premier League. Some time ago I listed about 10 Serbs (I need to add Kezman, Jokanovic, and Croat Stanic) who have been to England and gone back quickly as they didn't do anything, and I believe that Zigic will be another. We'll have to play him loads and all he'll do is sit on his stringbean ar$e and collect the cash.
You're judging him without knowing him though. Mind, proponents of signing him are usually doing the same.
-
Never had a doubt. Nice one.
My sentiments exactly.
-
I was talking about their mentaltiy.
When Zigic didn't play, the mentality of those that did has no bearing on him. Unless you'd like to stereotype all Serbs.
-
And some want to sign Zigic?
Er...he didn't play mate.
-
Didn't see the whole game, but it looked to me as though the Serbs simply couldn't be bothered for most of the game. There was no closing down whatsoever, and the defending was dire. I think most decent teams in the tournament would have murdered them.
-
He has bagged a couple today and is carrying on this dancing business.
Was funny at first but I find it more annoying now.
More than a couple! The lad seems to perform well for England.
-
Thanks for that, mr. pedantic
I knew this, but it's funny how when in a stream of concious it just seemed like Z was right....
That's Mr. Pedantic.
Edit- Whilst I'm at it, 'conscious'.
;)

the latest noise over here is that Mexico reckons they're a shout for the Semis !
Then I hear this Mex-American journo over here in the states bloating
that the Mexicans are so deep that their bench can qualify into the quarters.
Such is the pressure heaped upon the 'tri'...Such hubris crashlanding will be entertaining
to watch in the coming weeks. It will be cathartic I tell you.
schadenfreud, anyone ?
I seen a Argentina-2002 type meltdown on the horizon.
Surely the first head we seen rolling might be of LaVolpes', which
will make the zenophobic mexicans very HAPPY !
That's xenophobic
S&M to be dark horses....they're not going to win or anything, but I think if they can escape their group they've a good shot at the quarters or semis. A 'big' nation will win the whole thing, won't be a major upset.
-
Sometimes you can be fouled without contact. A player going in like the defender did is a foul, even if he doesn't get his man, which thankfully he didn't.
Yes but it's not. The only way you can be fouled without any contact is if there's a high foot.
There wasn't any contact. It wasn't a penalty. However, I wouldn't say it was a dive either, since there was no appeal from Gerrard and since I would say he was jumping out of the way of a reckless tackle.
Oh and FFS, Wrighty isn't there just because he's black, he's there because he's got more charisma than the rest of that studio combined.
Edit- sorry, yes, and two footed tackles. Which I don't recall the one on Gerrard being.
-
have you not seen BC smashing one in, on the carslberg advert ?
They probably had to computer generate it.
