  1. For those staying in Amsterdam: a nice, typical Dutch town to visit is Volendam, about 30 mins in bus. Tourist information: http://www.vvvvolendam.nl/index.php?id=637 On Friday 24 th their football team is playing at home in the Dutch second division!
  2. For those of you still looking for hostels and hotels in Amsterdam: http://www.vvvamsterdam.nl/
  3. I'm just saying that if you go into Rotterdam the risk that you get in trouble isn't higher than if you stay in Amsterdam. That's all *&^** from the police. Last year a bloke from Middlesbrough got stabbed in Amsterdam. His team was playing in Alkmaar against AZ but he and his mate didn't have tickets so they stayed in Amsterdam. He got into a fight over drugs and died. (just check Google) Hasn't got anything to do with Middlesbrough, AZ or football in the first place. So with that experience in mind, we could also say that Amsterdam is a dangerous place?
  4. This I really don't understand. If you don't look for trouble you won't get it in Rotterdam. Why bother to go to Amsterdam? Rotterdam is the second city of the country and has everything (and more) you guys will find in Amsterdam. Check it out yourself: http://www.vvv.rotterdam.nl/uk/ The ground of Basel got closed for 5 games in the Swiss League because their fans misbehaved but do you really think Swiss police recommended the Feyenoord fans to stay in Bern or Zurich? It's completely nonsense.
  5. They speak Dutch in Belgium (Flemish is not a language we share the same language), parts of northern France, Surinam, the Dutch Antilles and in South Africa as well. More people do have Dutch as their first language as all Scandinavian languages together.
  6. Plenty of hotelrooms still available in Rotterdam: http://www.vvv.rotterdam.nl/uk/
  7. For those of you still looking for accomodation please try the Tourist Board of Rotterdam. Their site in English is: http://www.vvv.rotterdam.nl/uk/ Cheap flights still available to the Netherlands, even directly to Rotterdam. Cheap direct flights to Rotterdam from Stansted: www.transavia.com Other companies flying directly to Rotterdam from the UK: www.klm.com http://www.flyvlm.com/emc.asp Trains in the Netherlands: www.ns.nl (if you come from Amsterdam Airport please look for tickets Schiphol-Rotterdam. If you go to Amsterdam Central you will go the opposite way) Flights from Stansted to Eindhoven: www.ryanair.com Cheap companies flying to Amsterdam: www.easyjet.com www.jet2.com www.bmibaby.com www.thomsonfly.com www.flybe.com For those of you staying over the weekend in Rotterdam.
