  1. Interesting footage of what was claimed to be THE OLDEST KNOWN RECORDING OF A FOOTBALL MATCH IN THE WORLD played at Ewood between Rovers and WBA 1898!!.The short, grainy clip was featured in the football series 'kicking and screaming' screened a few years ago on the BBC.

Taken fron the Darwen end, the houses that were on Kidder st are clearly visable behind what was to become the Blackburn end.Great footage that should be cherised...absolutely priceless images of a golden era long gone.

    LOVE IT! :rover:

    Back to the 1898 clip

Quality find :tu: I just love this sort of stuff.

    At least we won!!

Although the scoreline differs from this page

John Willaims won't be happy, we started the evil that is football on TV.

Shouldn't we get a percentage of money from every televised football match, that would be good :D

Quite right! This proves that Blackburn Rovers 'invented' Football on TV. Maybe someone should claim royalties from Sky Sports.

  2. I've heard that it's actually illegal for companies not to accept cash as payment.

That would explain why the judge threw the case out - and quite rightly too.

    On another slight rant.

When is the website going to be updated about the Young Rovers Membership. As far as I can tell it is still referring to last season (the free game is listed as Boro, Wigan, or Villa).

Surely this should have been updated by now. I was going to get a membership sorted for the lad. It would be nice for the information to at least be up to date on the official site.

Also whilst I'm at it, whats with the CTRL F5 thing on the official site. Why do you have to press that to get it to update. Can one of the techies tell me why it's the only site I go on which doesnt seem to update automatically.

you may have guessed that I'm having a bad day!!!!

I have been trying to get information on this seasons Rovers membership. Have been told they are having problems with it. The last i heard was that it was going to be another week at least but I was told that anyone who was a member last season would automatically be sent a form this time round. Hope that last bit is true

  3. I'd have a ban on drums at England matches that play with the so-called England Supporters Band. Either learn some more tunes and learn to play properly or get rid. :wstu:

*thump*thump*thump*thump*thump*thump*thump* ... that's not drumming. My five-year-old-neice could do as well at that!

the Rovers drummers are nowhere near as annoying (although I've never been sat right next to them). At least they try and match the atmosphere of the fans.

  4. I still sometimes dream that I am being chased by some kind of monster and my legs will only move very slowly. I never get caught though.

Apparently it's a fairly common dream. Never did find the significance.

I still get nightmares where I'm trying to be somewhere in about 5 mins and everyone is holding me up and I can't move very fast.

The nightmare 'monster' that used to chase me and my sister frequently was some sort of Dracula figure. I just knew he had a tall hat (like in Victorian days). We would constantly try to find places in the house to hide. (he never did find us)

Once I had that sort of dream, woke up scared but then went back to sleep too quickly and had 'part 2' (ever since then if I've woken up after having had a nightmare, I will always give myself about half an hour before attempting to go back to sleep, so that the dream can get itself out of my subconscious)

When I was a kid I used to dream that I was at the wheel of our car and was trying to drive it but couldn't because I didn't know how.

    ... but best of all....

Once I dreamt our front room sheepskin rug had grown to monster size and was chasing me down the alley at the back of our house (yes seriously). :o

  5. but what I dont understand is why the officials are intimidated by these clubs in the first place? Just what is it they seem to have over them? Maybe someone could explain it to me.

I guess, based on the overwhelming number of responses, that no-one else knows either :(

I'm not saying I wish to see the clubs forced under, I'm saying I don't think this will change the state of the Italian game. I really couldn't care less who wins the Serie A title next year.

The Serie A title could be worth keeping an eye on this time round because none of the 'big' teams are going to be involved. Can you just imagine how relegating Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool would affect the Premiership? It would make it into a real competition for a change and give 'also rans' (like us) not only a chance but a shot in the lime-light.
