  1. Just watched `Skyline`,not overly sure what to make of it though,as strange as it might sound...

Almost a cross between `Independence Day` and `War of the worlds` although this film was definitely different in so much as there was no big name actors in it.

With a reported budget of around $10-20m most of it went on the special effects which were very good. But had the film been given a decent budget though it could have been a real blockbuster, which is a shame but i suppose a sign of the times when film companies daren`t risk too much money.

Interesting ending though that means there will definitely be a sequel.7/10 for me,not bad but with a bit more financial backing,it could have been a cracker.

  2. Saw it a few months ago, yep. Decent film, but a pretty tough watch! Didn't think the foreign language and subtitles took anything away from the film at all, and I'll bet the Hollywood remake isn't a patch on this. Haven't seen the second one and don't plan to - I've heard it's dreadful. Apparently it was made as a TV drama and looks like that rather than a film. Don't think the third one has been made yet has it?

Yeah I have the 3rd one on DVD titled `The Girl who kicked the Hornets Nest`.

Not sure if it`s available in the shops though but if you HUNT for it you will be able to find it,if you know what I mean... ;)

  3. No I prefered Dark Knight, but that was 2008!

I guess this year it has been Inception so far, but not much competition. When did Kick Ass come out (didn't see at the cinema) as I that was unexpectedly brilliant.

Oops! Doesn`t seem 2 years ago,my bad....

Have to agree about `Inception` and I also enjoyed `Shutter Island` too but those 2 aside,it`s been a poor year for the cinema goer.

I watched `The girl with a Dragon Tattoo` at weekend, was very enjoyable and is part of the `Milenium Trilogy`.I`m going to try and watch the other 2 sequels at weekend hopefully. If you don`t mind foreign language films it`s well worth a watch, although I believe Hollywood are doing a remake (the original being in Swedish).Has anybody else watched it?

  4. Watched Expendables last night, final nail in some of these `actors` coffins imo. It`s like watching a badly made film from the 1980`s.What on earth convinced the studio`s to agree to the making of this film is beyond me.

3/10 for me and the 3 was for the special effects of people being ripped to bits by bullets.

  5. I don't know what the big deal is with Inception, I thought it was poor.

Funnily enough a mate of mine who is really into his sci-fi stuff said the same thing...

Think i will still go and see it though.

Went to see Toy story 3 tonight with the kids, great entertainment as usual from Pixar and the kids loved it. 9/10 for me :tu:

  6. Red Chilli in Leeds

Chinese restaurant, very nice. (I think they also have branches in Manchester and Bacup)

I would provide more details for you, but that is what google was invented for :)

Indeed, excellent food and as much as you can eat for around £12!

  7. for anybody who likes their carvery`s you won`t be able to do better than the `rose `n` bowl` in stacksteads near Bacup.I am absolutely stuffed! A choice of 4 meats (beef, turkey, pork and ham) that was absolutely cooked to perfection, huge yorkshire puddings and the best roasties you will ever taste! a choice from around 10 desserts well and truly finished me off!

For 2 adults and 2 children,2 courses and drinks was just under £46 superb value and good service, highly recommended indeed. :)
