  1. You mean a player who always played for the club even when fans had turned on him and he had been prevented from moving to a bigger team? It was a shame to see him end up at West Ham and really the issue is over, but I think the premier league would be a better place if more played like Neill did. You always knew he was going to fight for the cause.

Not sure who you are on about but I was referring to the leg breaking liability who, for most of his with us was cr@p, bar a season and a half either side of the last world cup. On the strength of that the player I was referring to decided BRFC, the club that had put up with constant suspensions and erratic performances, were no longer good enough for him so he f***** off. Not before lying about his undying love of Liverpool and making childish gestures to supporters who had contributed towards his wages.

    THATS who I mean.

I `think` all details are correct  .....but please feel free to shoot me down in flames B)

I was pretty sure we had two 30k + gates in 2000 in the old 1st division v Sheff Utd and Huddersfield. Or did I dream that?

  3. Thank god we're rid. Myself and USA were probably alone twelve months ago in saying how much having a "bad apple" in the ranks would be affecting team morale and performances. That's even without allowing for the fact he's a midfielder playing at full back.

Look how much we've improved since he left.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Niell is the epitomy of much of what is negative about the present day Premier League.

  4. I thought Benni was absolutely sensational last night, easily the most technically impressive player on the pitch and transformed from the on-the-shoulder goal poacher of last season to a tremendous linkup striker who showed great ball retention and vision. About three months ago I was advocating, I think quite justifiably, his dropping for Derbyshire or Roberts as he would go through games barely touching the ball. Now he not only looks like he can score at any opportunity (sadly he got no real ones last night) but also that he can create, contribute and defend.

One of the greatest turn arounds in attituded and application I have ever seen.

Santa and him look like they could be one of the finest combinations up front in the league, which is faintly ridiculous when you compare how much the likes of Rooney-Tevez, Shevchenko-Drogba and Torres-Kuyt cost. Outstanding.

I have been critical of McCarthy this season and the back end of last.

He was, however, excellent against Liverpool. Phenominal workrate to go with his undoubted class. Fair play to him - top drawer!

  5. There is also an article in Star which is basically the same story. Glad he has knuckled down and realised the grass inst always greener.

I like how there seems to be belief that we can get 4th spot - Samba, McCarthy and Cruz have all mentioned it!

I've been really hacked off with McCarthy and his attitude this season. Glad he's knuckled down as there's no denying he's a class act.

I dont think this is the end of his moping antics though. Prepare for another bout in the new year.

  6. Dont know if these have already been mentioned and I really cant be @rsed trawling through the thread. Anyhoo I'm just back from my hols when I read the following -

"Horses Arse" a novel set in a 1970's North West Police station by Charlie Owen and "the Damned United" a fact based novel reflecting Brian Clough's 44 days at Leeds United in 1975 by David Peace.

    Both good.
