Forest sign Chema Rodriguez (CB from Spain) and Carl Jenkinson. Let's face it other teams are more advance in their thinking and setups. They have delved into Europe and signed ample cover for key areas. It's about scouting, organisation, having a plan, getting your business done early and then adding to it. We started off OK but have now failed. I've always supported Mowbray but he has proved that he isn't up to the task of moving us forward. It will be a long season. Even teams under a transfer embargo have done better.

I said it at the start of last season and so did Mowbray, we have to look at Europe for help, yet an advert is still out proving we can't do it. That's what last year should have been all about. Our owners and management are still holding us back from a serious promotion push.

Leeds, Bristol City, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby, Fulham, Stoke, Swansea, Forest, Cardiff and West Brom are miles ahead of us and will finish ahead of us. Unfortunately that is half of the league.

QPR mate has backtracked a bit on Lynch, saying he was a starter and would have been kept along with Freeman, Bidwell etc had it not been for FFP. Says he is very athletic, good in the air and will do something great followed by 3 mistakes. I think that's an improvement on what we have, so sign him up!

If we sign him, I'll clarify which it is.

Because a striker is an easier investment to justify, it's no coincidence big money hasn't been invested in solid championship defenders. It's not about success on the pitch for Venky's sadly, it's about the potential ROI.

For the manager it seems to be about "what CAN I get the green light on" not "what positions do we need the green light on".

Williams or Bell should have been sold this summer, it was clear all last year we had two poor left backs, two poor centre backs and one average right back.

Maybe harsh on Lenihan but the jury is still out.

Let's face it, we need 3 defenders in by Thursday and ideally a goalkeeper too. Busy week.

I wouldn't be against sacking him now to get the most out of this squad. 

Similarly I looked over the window for other teams and there really hasn't been any standouts. Costa for Leeds should be a great signing but the good news is that many of the teams with more incomings have also lost key players. We have kept the squad together (touch wood) and improved it. Admittedly some teams are already strong, West Brom, Swansea, Stoke, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Derby and Fulham but it's so far so good and we could easily be the dark horse  .

99% of us were negative about Scott Dann and Shane Duffy. This lad is highly rated and the window has come/ is coming together nicely. Looking forward to a season as a potentially exciting underdog.

I think it will probably look nice as a full kit on the field but it's certainly not a shirt many people will be buying. Surely we should be trying to maximum shirt sales. Odd pick.
