I think if we're looking at goalkeeper cover for David Raya, we couldn't go far wrong with Karl Darlow at Newcastle. Older head sure, but as a 2nd fiddle keeper, he'd bring much needed experience to a dressing room that could be without a Craig Conway for next season.

He's not getting any game time at Newcastle, and I think his contract only has a year left. He's not played consistently for a few years but if we are to let Jayson Leutwiler go, he's a perfect challenger for Raya IMO.

Good call. Visits Manchester often so I'm told and could be looking for a move to the area... sign him up!

As much as I like the core of our current squad, I can't help but notice our scouting does appear weaker than ever. Where are the new Olssons,  Sambas,  Nelsons, Friedels, Pedersens, Hoiletts and Mokoenas!? I can't remember our last successful signing from abroad (although I haven't thought that hard about it)? Surely Championship equivalents should be easier to find! A lot of the more competitive squads in this league have had an edge from abroad and most haven't paid a lot either. I don't think you necessarily need to spend big in this league (of course it helps), which is why the Bereton signing has been a bit frustrating - to look at the extreme, that could have been 7 players for 1 million each which is potentially enough for a promotion squad in this league.

    Cardiff - Zohore, Gunnarrsson, Manga

    Watford - Ighalo, Abdi, Paredes

Huddersfield - Kachunga, Billing, Low, Van La Parra, Schindler, Mooy

    Wolves - Bonatini, Boly, Saiss

Some great signings and I'm sure there are a lot more team's players that have been unearthed via this league.

Let's spend a bit on some well scouted talent in the right areas, as much as I love Tony, I think it's time he broadened ones horizons

Great to hear Tony is reading these boards! Looking forward to this summer.

  3. Seems strange that we aren't signing anyone at such a pivotal point in the season and with an outside chance of the playoffs. Who's to say if we brought in a striker and two solid defenders we wouldn't push on and challenge. Pleased with Mowbray and the season so far but it's time to invest smart and get back in the Premier League. It's possible.

  4. I would be looking forward to see what he does this summer if we stay up and he is backed to keep who he wants or spend what he gets. He certainly deserves time but as a club our scouting has weakened significantly over the years and it should be a focus. We need to get more creative to get out of this league, there is a reason the Premier League needed a non homegrown cap.

  5. Cardiff even benefited from our old scouts last year to go up with Hoilett, the irony! I think our current network was affective for League One. Another team that had a nice balance of home-grown and some shrewd class from abroad was Southampton. They had Schneiderlin and Fonte. There will be more. My point is a valid one.

Reminds me of the flag we used to send over. It's nice to see something a bit different. I think it looks good as a full kit but nobody wants to be one of those...

edit. I'd be more concerned by Dack not modelling it.
