  1. I did mean that one, yeah. I thought it was probably a correct decision, but, like amny others, couldn't understand why it wasn't a yellow. An optimistic case could be made for it being a red (again, said without the benefit of a replay).

Ah yes, that one. Definitely outside the box. The lack of yellow card is just another to add to the ref's catalogue of errors from last night.

  2. Tonday was the first time in years I've been in a smoking crowd (no-one I know smokes).  It's horrible.  I have a sore throat, I've been coughing and my hair smells of smoke.

    BAN IT NOW!

You should come back up north, Jan. Its great. Sunday there was the first one in a long while I haven't woke up with my clothes and hair reeking of posion. smile.gif Good times.

  3. "But what was he looking to achieve by letting it all out publicly? Speaking out to disassociate his image from the humiliation, to court popularity - whatever it was - it's putting your ego ahead of your club."

Indeed. Jordan seems to enjoy slaughtering Brum as much as your average Roverite. biggrin.gif

  4. A very frustrating and ultimatelty disappointing perfromance overall, but the doom and gloom around here is a little over the top. As Flopsy said, we started and finished the game with genuine purpose and only a little shortage of luck stopped us getting the ball over the line earlier. Well, luck and shocking officiating - both the referee and the linesman who disallowed the Wigan goal were just terrible. Wigan will feel very hard done by, but so should we - Gamst's goal came just as our early period of ascendency was beginning to fade. Our tails would have been up again and who knows what could have happened after that. But then again I guess I've got a cheek to be complaining after the goal that was actually given somehow stood (we'd all be spitting blood if it had happened at the other end).

The Wigan goal was just sodding typical on an evening of such frustration - what Neill was playing at when we were forced to concede the corner that eventually led to Roberts' insolent finish I'll never know.

  5. Well the ban came in up here just over a week ago, and it felt great to wake up on Sunday morning without my clothes reeking of smoke. And of the three pubs and one club I ventured into on Saturday there was none of the threatened evil smells that smokers have been graciously covering up over the years to be found. Good times. smile.gif

  6. Still it was yet another three points thank to Steven Reid’s amazing goal. Like a taller, skinnier, Irish Cockney Diego Maradona, with no hair, he collected the ball in his own half and simply tore through the Sunderland midfield and defence as though they weren’t there (…actually, thinking about it….) before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the centre of the goal which forced their keeper to dive out of the way.

    Great stuff, bob (as usual).

  7. Charlie Nicholas is another who knows his stuff.

    Bwahahahahahahaha. Dear me.

My personal dislikes include John "didn't he?" Motson and Alan Smith. Someone on here made an excellent point about him recently - he makes up his mind on something after 5 minutes and then spends the rest of the match championing it, even when the evidence in front of his very eyes contradicts it.

Rob McLean who presents on Setanta (used to do the commentary on the Scottish Sportscene) is an utter nightmare to listen to.

"And....that flag from the assistant.....indicates.....that the forward was....offside." Stop speaking in staccatto you irritating git! mad.gif

  8. Me and my big gob.  ph34r.gif

For those that haven't seen it, 87 mins keeper plays a clearance against Defoe and then hauled him back as he bore down on goal. Mido put the loose ball in the net but Foy had correctly blown for a penalty already.

(Keeper should certainly have been red carded as well)

West Brom will be gutted after a fighting display. Spurs were very lucky to get anything at all out of that, never mind 3 points.  sad.gif

So I can't even complain about it being a jammy penalty then? I was tearing my hair out last night when I saw ceefax ticking over to 2-1. Sodding Tottenham. mad.gif

  9. Under Souness we did seem to be linked with a lot of French African players offered by an agent called Willie MacKay.

Don't think we bought any, but it is interesting to note that Mr.MacKay was again dealing with Souness at Newcastle, (comment on one of their messageboards was along the lines of 'are they related?'.....).

Wasn't Lucien Metomo was almost signed for something in the region of £7m...?

  10. I was in disbelief when Spurs scored their third. Everything was in slow motion (like Michael Gray) from the moment Lennon got the ball and started charging down the flank. The second I realised Gray was scunnered for pace I just knew it was a certain goal. Unreal stuff after such a dominant display since conceding the second.

Its a cruel, cruel game, but you do make your own luck to an extent. Their first two goals wouldn't have stood but for bad/unfortunate officiating, but niether mistake would have mattered if the defenders and keeper had done their jobs properly. Very unfortunate, but as Tango says "An absolutely superb display by Rovers, and a ruthless one by Spurs - probably the reason they'll make the Champions League ahead of us."

  11. Was that when the spuds fans started to throw their completely used season tickets onto the pitch?

    1-1 this time.

    387581[/snapback]

biggrin.gif Yeah. Ooooh a real show of defiance there, lads.

I'm never confident when we play Spurs. I don't know why, I think its just because I'm fearing comeupance for all the insults I throw their way for the rest of the season. So I think we'll lose this one.
