I’ll qualify this by admitting that I’ve only seen 2 games so far this season (the other being WBA) so it’s probably not fair to judge too harshly, but I thought today’s game was very similar to watching us under Ince - trying to play football the ‘right’ way, some fantastic bits of interplay and great to watch on the ball when it clicks (see both of our goals), however no real discipline on team shape, not close enough to the opposition out of possession and not a tackle anywhere in the team - all of which means we are wide open to play against and far to easy to break on.
I can unfortunately see us losing far more than we win this season

However, listening to Kevin Gallacher on the way home on BBC Lancs, he reckoned it was just a bad day at the office and a poor performance, rather than anything tactically wrong, so hopefully he’s right and my fears are unfounded

You’re not far wrong from what you’ve seen. As a season ticket holder, I think you’re bang on with your summary.

I'm not saying that he doesn't get time to bed in but equally when Tomasson makes poor team sections, employs flawed tactics, makes illogical substitutions and signings under his watch struggle then he gets criticism.

People cannot quit the habit of criticising Mowbray when poor decisions lead to a poor performance and a defeat.

Not that I am aware of but I may be wrong.

Even so, Vale is a pointless sub, may as well keep Hirst on for the 90.

I was absolutely baffled by the Hurst sub. He looked our main threat.

Bang on about Mowbray too- he’s long gone, so is about half the team from last season too.

  3. That is the second home game in a row that I’ve walked out early. The scoreline flattered us.

The midfield was once again major issue. You could have drove a 747 through it today. I honestly believe it’s down to the way we’re set up. We’re far too wide as a unit. We also created very little.

If things don’t change, we’re in a relegation battle. JDT is increasingly looking like he’s out of his depth. I get the sense he’s trying to play something the squad isn’t capable of.

“To put it in gentleman’s terms if you’ve been out for a night and you’re looking for a young lady and you pull one, some weeks they’re good looking and some weeks they’re not the best. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She weren’t the best looking lady we ended up taking home but she was very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much, let’s have a coffee” – on the “ugly” win against Chesterfield

    My all time favourite!

  5. Amoruso- I don’t think I’ve seen a slower defender. Jayson Leutwiler is probably the worst keeper I’ve seen playing for us, but I’m too young to remember Alan Fettis, which a chap at work has mentioned! He’s coaching in Man Utd’s set-up now though, according to Wikipedia....

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Fettis

My all time top crap player though is Etuhu. The bloke was an absolute waste of space. Those mentioned above might have been crap, but at least they tried!

    Lockdown record: W3 D1 L5 F15 A18

    10 points from a possibly 27

11th place, 7 points off the play-offs but when in touching distance we bottled it.

    The stats will say “progress”.

What happens this transfer window will determine if it really is, or if Mowbray is literally a spent force.

We have progressed though. Try and downgrade it as much as you want, we’ve done better than last year.

  7. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, we need a proper keeping coach. The bloke we’ve got has never even played the game professionally. Walton’s a good keeper but he won’t progress with who’s training him.

  8. Fowler was ridiculously unfit when he arrived, and well past it. From that era, Amoruso was bloody awful too- never seen such a slow defender!

Looking to more recent times, Paul Taylor, Paul Caddis, Chris Brown and Wes Brown anyone? Lots of shouts for Fettis, but I would strongly argue Leutwiler is the worst keeper I’ve ever seen between our sticks. Then again, I’m too young to remember Fettis!

Why should owners be expected to cover losses over next few weeks and then be subjected to draconian rules? Some clubs are going to be in real trouble and scrapping FUP will boost their chances of securing outside investment. People who want to subscribe to FUP won't buy a club in the current climate. So you have to look for benefactors, etc.

Whilst I agree with FFP being unfair, I couldn’t disagree more about clubs not being bailed out- look at all of League 2 and 1, bar a few cases, there is absolutely no one going to come in and throw money at those clubs because it makes absolutely no financial sense. There could well be some fan owners be willing to chuck money like it’s no object, but you’re not seriously suggesting 71 millionaires/ billionaires, who each support a different club, in The Football League are you? There wasn’t before FFP was introduced and with the current impending economic crisis, if FFP was scrapped, there sure won’t be now.

This is serious- clubs outside the top flight are in trouble if this season isn’t finished.

I think Ipswich and Hibs may be as much to do with geography as anything.

    Put yourself in TM’s shoes.

If you, as a Rovers fan, had 3 young lads living miles away from your work in Blackburn, and you were (probably) going to get a pay rise to manage the club that you’ve always supported therefore enabling you to see your family everyday, and stay at home etc...

He wouldn’t be able to turn it down surely.

I can’t see this happening. My understanding is he drives to and from his family home everyday.  Add to the fact he’s already managed up there and has- at this moment- an outside chance of managing in the top flight with us next year, surely it’s no go.

Mowbray has a lot to thank us for too- his managerial career was pretty much finished until we took him on. I remember my Bolton mate laughing his head off, when he took over from Coyle...

Soo embarassing i cant believe with all the money spent we have ended up with this on the pitch mowbray is a joke

What do you expect with all the injuries? Our budget isn’t exactly massive if you compare it to others too.

Opted for the radio and the fire tonight after a long day at work, rather than freezing at Ewood- we sound well on top, but unable to convert a chance.
