  1. Watched 'Green Zone' last night, a bit predictable but enjoyed it. Hoping to catch Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes effort tonight, or maybe The Book Of Eli. Trying to get through some of the stuff on my Sky+!
  2. Looking forward to seeing True Grit - am also a big fan of the Coens, and with Empire giving this a glowing review and 5 stars it's a must-see for me. Also quite fancy 127 Hours. Finally managed to see Kick-Ass ..... great film, really enjoyed it.
  3. Downloaded the demo, and it's OK. You can tell the people behind Burnout were involved as there's a few things been ripped from that series - particularly the 'boost' system. It did feel like it might get a bit same-y though? Think I'll wait for GT5 - if they ever manage to release it! Wasn't it originally supposed to be one of the PS3 launch titles?!
  4. It sounds almost exactly like Modern Warfare 2! Not going to bother buying Black Ops until I've rented it and tried it first. Got caught out by the overhyped mess that was MW2, and won't be as foolish this time. Can't believe they managed to make such a total balls-up of the the first Modern Warfare, was soooo disappointing. P2P servers so it was basically a lag vs. lag game, terrible maps, hardly any difference between the guns, ridiculous perks (heartbeat sensor? akimbo?? lol), hackers everywhere and as for the killstreaks, jeez. Choose the correct killstreaks, get to 7 kills then hide and watch the kills rack up. Got very, very boring very, very quickly. Thank God BFBC2 came out when it did!
  5. Excellent stuff.
  6. Just heard on Radio Lancs - gutted. An Ewood legend through and through, and a true member if the Rovers family. I grew up on tales of Ronnie Clayton and Bryan Douglas, and the both of them have been constants throughout my 28 years of going to Ewood. A sad day indeed, hope there's at least a minutes silence tomorrow.
  7. The first Paranormal Activity is excellent - I wasn't expecting much but it really does give you the chills. Took me a while to get to sleep after! Like the best horror films it's more about what you don't see on screen ..... Watched 'Burn After Reading' at the weekend - while not in the same league as the genius of 'Fargo' or 'The Big Lebowski' it's still a solid Coen Brothers effort.
  8. I'm sure when he was on at Blues last year Kevin Gallagher alluded to the most 'senior players' (likely Sutton and Sherwood?) being very unhappy with Roy's regime, particularly the fact that he had them training twice a day as was normal at Inter. As a result there was a revolt that led to Hodgson getting the sack, Kidd taking over and ultimately our relegation. ALthough signing sh*te like Ashley Ward, Nathan Blake, Davies, Dario Marcolin etc probably didn't help.
  9. AFC Darwen are playing Chorley tonight at the Anchor Ground in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy. A chance to see Matt Jansen and Garry Flitcroft in action! Might pop along ....
  10. Thought him and Face were miles better than Mr. T and Hannibal. The Mrs and I were saying that the cast should have been better - they really should have gone out and got: Hannibal - George Clooney; Face - Brad Pitt; Murdock - Jim Carrey; Mr. T was the only one we struggled with. Ving Rhames was about the best we could come up with! A good, 'leave the brain at home and watch the explosions' film though.
  11. Great film. Is there going to be a sequel (District 10 perhaps?) Have just ordered 'When You're Strange' - a documentary I suppose rather than a film, but I'm looking forward to seeing it immensely.
  12. Muse last night at LCCC. Just. Fooking. Awesome.
  13. I'll give it a few more listens then. Just downloaded 'Another City, Another Sorry' by The Answering Machine - good stuff. Just got the Klaxons new one too which I'm looking forward to hearing. Excited about Muse tomorrow. Decent supports too - Pulled Apart By Horses and Band Of Skulls. Not very keen on Editors though - it's almost as if they're trying to sound like Ian Curtis fronting Coldplay.
  14. Lol. Take it your another one who sees the Emperor's New Clothes too? I guess Arcade Fire have them back on loan from Radiohead for the time being.
  15. Worse than the remake of Get Carter with Stallone? I can't believe it .....
  16. Not as good as their last album, which tbh was overrated anyway. They're a bit like Radiohead - critical darlings who could release any old tosh and it would instantly get 5-star reviews by the self appointed 'serious' music press. Looking forward to the new Interpol, Grinderman and Black Mountain albums.
  17. Saw Toy Story on Tuesday - great film. Watched District 9 last night - superb. Also watched Paranormal Activity earlier in the week - incredibly good, even more so when it reportedly only cost $15,000 to make. Scared the missus to death, and I have to confess it took me a while to get to sleep!
  18. Spot on. Muse - never knowingly understated ....
  19. U2 left a massive hole in the Friday headline slot .... Gorillaz failing badly to fill it imo. Not that I don't like them, but they are a long way from headline material, and seem to have morphed into an ego-massaging project for Damon Albarn. Most recent album very disappointing - and they appear to be playing it all! Snoop was awesome, Hot Chip good, not a fan but Dizzee Rascal got the crowd rocking, disappointed no footage of The Black Keys though. Looking forward to The Dead Weather and particularly Muse tomoz. Rumours that The Edge will join them on stage?
  20. Watched 'Moon' and 'Zombieland' over the weekend - very different films but both very good.
  21. Anyone else go and see Doves on Sunday night at KGH? Third time I've seen them and they didn't disappoint - and they played 'Space Face' as a second encore which went down well with people of my age who remember only too well dancing in fields to it in about 1990 ....
  22. Round Blackburn, Clog & Billycock is about the best imo. Fence Gate Inn is good but a bit of a trek too ...
  23. Watched the first 4 so far, and it's excellent. If you liked Band Of Brothers, then you'll love it but even my missus has enjoyed it and she's not usually too taken with anything war-related.
  24. Sadly, the increase in the number of braindead, moronic, neanderthal chavs fuelled by alcohol is symptomatic of society in general ....
  25. A man critically ill in hospital, someone arrested. In the Rovers end so the assumption is it was one Rovers fan on another? Terrible. At least he's still with us ....
