  1. Seen Ted (by other means). Daft, uncomplicated, really funny - some of the best lines I've heard in a while.

Saw TDKR in IMAX. Incredible movie. Lots of things in there - that will keep the interest going- in repeat viewings.

Mind blowing special effects (some with thousands of extras).

Tom Hardy's performance as Bane is up there with Heath Ledger's The Joker.

    The ending is wonderful.

  2. The new Alan Partridge program currently tickling us. The fact we can see parallels with a certain PR man makes it even funnier.

Not watched the new programme, yet. Is it a replaying of the Fosters Webisodes - with added stuff?

Highly recommend "I Partridge. We Need to Talk About Alan." Especially the audio version! Absolute genius.

  3. The game took a bit of a back seat to the euphoria around the stadium but I seem to remember that it featured a lot of ex Rovers like Windy Miller, a few of the youth team and Kenny played. I remember him bollocking one of the young players for not passing to him in the penalty area.

Holt ? who went to PNE.. I think!

Great night! remember people being miffed that the Darwen End was full, though!

"whereve you been all season- etc.."

And Camp TV reporter, Paul Crone, mincing along in the Riverside! :P

  4. Rovers v Sheff Utd

    Feb 28th 1970

    Att. 15,795

Is this the fastest penalty ever?

I've timed it at 12 seconds!

Superb stuff, Whittle and Plastichead! :tu:

How good was Scott Sellars! Unplayable.

I remember wearing cycling shorts under my kit to copy him. :D

My favourite ever Rovers game is the '89 City game! Absolutely incredible atmosphere.

Infact, reminded me how raucous the Ewood atmospheres used to be.

When the 'Old Ewood' was rocking, there was NO place on earth like it!

  5. That is some show of anger.

BTW. I'm trying to forget about Milan losing last night, and Juve winning Serie A. It doesnt get much worse than that! Juve are the Man United of Italy, and have glory hunting fans all over Italy.

Rovers all but relegated yesterday afternoon, and that last night, capped a terrible season, for me personally. :(

  6. Really enjoying the snipets I've heard of Jack White's 1st solo album (Blunderbuss).

White's music often seems 'other worldly' to me, or like it belongs in another era.

His cover of U2's 'Love is Blindness' is blistering!

Loving 'Love Interuption', (since JANUARY). It is simplistic but glourious.

His performance of it on Saturday Night Live reminded me of Bob Dylan's Desire period. :tu:

He played, 'Love Interruption' (With a Female Band) - and 'Sixteen Saltines' (With a Male Band).

His female band included Carla Azar, of Autolux, on drums!

  7. I heard the same which makes it rather odd that this thread has been opened and that fans of a football club about which he couldn't care less are sending condolences.

    Agreed.

Though it's sad, as it is when anyone passes, but

unless you knew Fred personally -or he had touched your life in someway - this thread seems very odd and out of place.

  8. i was stunned when i heard about speed. my heart goes out to his family. sometimes words aren't enough.

a very emotional 606, with robbie savage and darren fletcher, is well worth a listen...

some great memories. its extremely moving, but a very fitting tribute!

also.. kind regards to those on here that have, or are currently suffering with depression.

i like many members, am always available.. if needed.

  9. Laudrup wanted to have a leaving clause example Real Madrid come along and he can leave for free. While agree we missed out on Laudrup with clauses like that its easy to see why JW did not sign him.

i wouldve risked rovers losing him to real madrid! ;)after all it wouldve proved we were successful. :)

  10. john jensen has left to team up with laudrup elsewhere.

He hasnt been removed so kean will stay firmly in the managers seat

i wouldnt have minded laudrup at rovers!

william's appointed ince instead of him.. cos laudrup would only sign a 2 yr contract. big mistake IMO.

john jensen leaves... SO WHAT!. none of our 1st team coaching staff impresses me TBH! :(

  11. I watched a preview of the upcoming movie on Aryton Senna the other day and literally had goosebumps, it looks awesome!

watched it the other week.. round at a mates... the japanese blu-ray version came out in mid march.

truly brilliant and im not a formula 1 fan at all.. so can only imagine the effect the movie will have on an F1 fan.

  12. couple of pathe videos ive managed to find, im hopeful they'll be more (remember seeing a video of rovers in 58 semi final wearing striped shirts?)

hope the club to something as a memorial and perminant reminder to him. maybe retire a shirt number in his honour... (might be difficult cos players had many numbers in those days)

    http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=41696

i feel privilaged to have met him on several occasions. (my dad used to clean his boots)

footballing genius. but more importantly he loved the rovers. was loyal, humble, gentleman a real man of the people.

    grand fella.

  13. There was a problem with standing yesterday at the match. The disabled supporters could not see and our steward was very upset that the head steward was not sending personnel over to deal with it. There were also other supporters, elderly and children who wanted to sit and had others standing in front of them and impeding their view. As has been said, it is illegal to stand, when will people get this into their heads?

However, it got worse. Shocked when we were told that someone was badly injured, even more so when we found out what had happened. The poor man, who like the rest of us had gone to support his beloved club and ended up losing his life. God rest his soul, prayers and thoughts for all who knew him and were close to him.

Those who attend football matches with the sole intention of getting completely drunk should take a long hard look at themselves.

To Rovers fans - please don't let this stop your away support. We need to stick together and show everyone that we are good people and not let the idiots take over.

wonderful points, roversmum. having witnessed the standing issue myself i was utterly appalled with the sheer ignorance of people infront of the disabled platform who simply refused to sit down (dunno why... mustve been thinking it was funny and cool to look ignorant).

i was a few rows away... more central... but recognised a young lad who i know, getting abused so then he started abusing them back. things could have escalated from there! so i went an had a word with "the standers" who just laughed, told me to "f*** off!" and shrugged their shoulders. i left before i'dve done something idve regretted.

i saw him after the game and he says he might stop going cos it's happening more and he's getting more and more frustrated and angry and he said it was "soul distroying to go to a game and not get to see most of it!"

i know for a fact he's a true passionate fan... cos ive seen and spoken to him at most games. he;s a great guy, gentle character and i felt for him to be honest.

you probably know who i mean, roversmum!

i agree with those who are exasperated with some of out 'fans' i think the only way to stop them is for the decent fans to get together and speak out... when anything happens.

lastly... sincere condolences to the lad and all his family and friends... accident or not should take away from the fact that it is a real tragedy.

  14. bloody hell, Ranulf. I bet the birthday punch didn't last long with Gazza and

Andy 'the bum-chin Payton.' haha. did he hide in your wardrobe ???

on benni 'big-mac' i had a feeling things would end bitterly...i couldnt understand why the majority of rovers fans have been chanting his name for the past few weeks

(obvious he was going to leave). going on strike at any club is despicable.. not sure i can add much more about that.

    IN MY OPINION.

he has been hiding behind a few lines of bullshit about 'wanting to play more games' and ensure he gets into the south africa squad.. when clearly he doesnt get on with fat sam and he'd quite like a pay raise and see the bright lights of London.

    that's up to him.

i dont think rovers will miss him too much (on the pitch) and he'll soon be forgotten by his disciples on the terraces.
