If it was truly a front 3 like a 3 pronged attack then i think that would suit him better, probably would Brereton or Samuel as well. As it is however he sets up it always seems to end up with whoever is in that berth being wide like a winger.
It's worked a couple of times and is obviously better when we attack and press but most of the time to be honest it's just codswallop. It's like a waste of a player/position we've done well to get the points we have doing that. So disjointed it looks at times.
But why can't the manager see that? It's clearly not getting the best out of the player, so why would the manager persist with something that even the average fan can see isn't effective?

There's no way we will be signing a right winger whilst we have Gallagher on the books.
Bloody flighty buggers, anyway! Who needs 'em?

I think they were talking about newcomers from last summer to be fair. I don't think even Paul can deny that Brereton has been underwhelming (to say the least!)
Fairy nuff.
Gallagher was such an iffy signing. Never impressed under Mowbray and did sweet eff all on loan at Brum, but didn't stop us splashing £5m on him. Then Mowbray proceeds to play him as an outside forward. Bizarre.

Like I said. Opinions...Only Gally has failed for me. Downing, Ada, Cunningham class. Johnson has been exactly what I thought and been useful in some games, not in others and I refuse to say that Walton has been a failure, if nothing because he’s been central to our best defensive showing since we dropped out of the PL.
And Brereton hasn't been a monumental failure?
I think you're being a silly goose.

However that progress has to continue next season.
It's always tomorrow. The same excuses were trotted out for Bowyer. Even when it was blindingly obvious he was a bottler who couldn't break that glass ceiling into the top six, some fans still wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Next season! Next season will be the one!" We blew our best shot of going up by sticking with him too long.

I'd keep him over Gallagher or Brereton.
Damning with faint praise.
Bin the lot of 'em.

So do we get rid of Samual as plenty were saying we should or does he deserve more chances?
If we'd paid £M7 for him he'd play every game!
One goal shouldn't change a thing.
Let him go and spend the wages elsewhere.
Let's see what the fabled European scouting network can find in the summer.

The thing is despite our hopes and dreams rovers are not ready for promotion as it stands. If it happened this season then venkys would have had to splurge £120m plus just with a view to finishing outside of the bottom 3! Either that or they would recoup some of their losses sell the club and FO. Thus leaving us in the right royal shit. At least another season with more progression and promotion of some great kids along with experience to guide them gives them a better chance. Next season minimum goal should be the top 6 and more consistency on the pitch.
That's absolute nonsense.
There is never a bad time for a £170m cash injection. I wouldn't care if we got tanked every week.

£12m spent on striking "talent" and Golden Graham is still the only capable forward at the club. Shocking.

Typical Mowbray to pull off a win like this after a rubbish run of results. Changes nothing really because as always it gives false hope
Yup, just like Bowyer he shits the bed when we're in spitting distance of the playoffs but finishes strongly to paper over the cracks.

Because he refused to play for the U23s.
Bad attitude.
Must be disheartening when you play well in the U23s and still can't get a look in. Meanwhile dross like Bennett and Gallagher are ever-present.

Even if we haven't got a pot to piss in next season, there's always free agents in the summer. No point keeping the likes of Samuel who have shown they can't cut it.

Reading the initial posts in this thread is interesting. There'll be one or two red faces on here now. Same with the early posts on the Sam Gallagher thread
That'll teach people to be optimistic! And I say that unironically.

Nothing will change until Venky's are gone. Don't let the semblance of normality beguile you, we're still a basketcase that is being run by agents on the down-low.

Brereton's agent is Wasserman
Formerly, Key Sports Management Ltd, who were bought out by Wasserman.
Chapman and Downing are with the same agency.

But still, it's because TM found Dack that BB & Gally are being compared (unfavourably) with him...
You brought Dack into this. Gally and Brereton have both been major flops by any yardstick.

Look, if we had avoided Dack's injury, or Cunningham's, who knows? We had a very competitive 14 but to lose 2 from it for such large parts of the season killed us. Despite that and despite misfiring forwards, we were still in the hunt until last week. A couple more timely goals and we still would be.
All the more reason that £12m should've been better invested, eh?

It’s been tricky to be honest. Lots of digging in lots of different places!
Their Twitter account will give you an insight into the players and managers on their books... I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we brought in Marcus Forss as our obligatory striker this summer.
There is a really worrying thread running through all our recent managers (Appleton aside)
Kean - we all know about that
Berg - Rune Hauge (the one who get banned for the dodgy dealings with George Graham involving John Jensen... another SEM man who was foisted on us. Hauge and Jerome were also both involved in the John Obi Mikel controversy)
Appleton - Oporto Sports
Bowyer - HSH
Lambert - HSH
Coyle - HSH
Mowbray - HSH
Below is HSH’s companies house listing...
Plenty of crossover with SEM. Several familiar names on the SEM filing history. HSH were incorporated around 6 months after Jerome resigned as an SEM director.
Little more than a rebranding?
This post should be pinned on here.
Dark forces.

Every managerial appointment is a gamble. Some of the biggest clubs in the country have hired managers who looked the perfect fit, but for whatever reason they never clicked.
Whether it's someone who's been around block or an unknown quantity, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

They say "never go back" and historically managers never seem to have the same impact when returning to their old stomping grounds.
Mark Hughes would find Rovers a different animal than the one he remembers, and vice-versa.

Giving Richie Smallwood and Sam Hart contract extensions when they won’t play for the rest of the season. Sam Hart won’t even get in the squad when we have two left backs our injured and an emergency one out also.
Wait, what? Smallwood got a contract extension?

I would be surprised , not sure Venkys want to many people looking into their books.
Venky's have now owned us longer than Uncle Jack did, despite being the very antithesis in every way.
What are they still doing here? What could they possibly be getting out of this?
Do they actually own the club or is this just one giant ponzi scheme for footy agents?
