Forgot Hull City are in League 1 now. WTF happened there?

Why react to a link as though we have signed him, even if true everyone knows we need 2 goalies, could be for back up, let’s wait and see who we sign before beating up everyone at the club.
Would you say the same if everyone was excited at the prospect of signing someone? Can't have it both ways.

Unbelievable that 34.11% were in favour of signing him at any point.
Fickle, knee-jerk nature of the average football fan, m'afraid.

Don’t we need two keepers if Leitweiller has been replaced? Just wondering if he will be bought in to fill that spot whilst we look for a ‘proper’ number one. Here’s hoping anyway.
If the Boro kid is brought in as backup, then whatevs. We still need an experienced No. 1.

Another Boro rookie now
Nice lad, fit straight in, friendly agents etc etc
wow what an ambitious forward thinking set of guys we have in charge. Warnock hunts for a proper keeper meanwhile.....
Unfortunately, the last Boro lad we signed can't get a game for love nor money.
Maybe this new guy is more of a meat and potatoes, straight up and down, Beef Wellington, don't trust the Argies, d*** in the v*****, cheddar cheese and chicken tikka masala man.

Strachan was a real sharp wit as you say Andy. I was fourth official at Birmingham when he was at Southampton and he kept referring to the referee as 'jellyfish'. I was bemused by this and at the end of the game I asked him why and without breaking stride he said "because he has no f***ing backbone"
That made me laugh.
One of my favourite Strachan moments:

How many more pages before our first signing? 100? 200?

Infamous at this point!
I’m guessing people thinks it means ‘languid’. It sounds like it should.
It's one of those words that sounds like it should mean something different.
Bit like people thinking "nonplussed" means unimpressed when it means surprised/confused.3 minutes ago, rigger said:Do they not mean , a damp squib. A firework that doesn’t go off ?
Indeed. I meant to type damp squid, of course

Can't take any promotional GK kits shots without any goalkeeper!
We'll probably re-sign Richie Smallwood so he can pose for it.
I shouldn't give Mowbray ideas...

Christian Dailly, Ashley Ward, Kevin Davies. Nathan Blake....etc need I say any more!
In our pomp, we released plenty of youngsters who trickled down to the lower and non-leagues.
Just because they're on a Premier League club's books means squat.

Damn squid.
Also, my pet peeve, turgid - often used to a denote a rubbish game of football, when it means swollen/bloated or a bombastic style of writing.

To paraphrase Roy Keane:
"Good shot-stopper? Isn't that what they're supposed to do?"- 7

I remember Niko Kalinic being comically unlucky when it came to hitting the wordwork. His goal return wasn't exactly terrible, but could have been so much better with a little bit of luck.
I remember him getting slaughtered on MOTD for missing a hatful of chances against Sunderland.
It was quite mean-spirited and not long after Croatia had dumped England out the Euro qualifiers. ?

Afternoon everyone. Just had to tidy up a few petty squabbles in this thread. Can we tone it down and be a bit more civil please? If anyone wants to know how to ignore any posters that clearly get their back up, slide into my DMs and I’ll talk you through the process.
Unfortunately, the Quote function subverts the Ignore facility. ?

Bear in mind, Ashley Ward was our top goalscorer in 98/99
And that included a strikeforce of Sutton, Gallagher, Davies, Jansen, Blake...

The mobster's son. It was the lowest depth, at least the other charlatans had been footballers at least to some extent.
Nepotism has always been rife in football.
I doubt we signed Paul Dalglish or Julio Santa Cruz for football reasons.

A nonsense letting Raya leave.
The worry is, currently our best goalkeeping option is a joiner with a pack of 8 foot x 4 inch lengths of timber, a bag of nails and a claw hammer.
Whichever way you slice it, we dropped a bollock selling Raya.
Simply because the money was wasted on Gallagher.

Let’s hope I’m wrong because if Dack and Armstrong can get 15 goals apiece we will be well up there.
Don't be so sure about that.
We had 40 goals from Rhodes and Rudy remember?

Chaddy, you are happy with whatever the club does...we sold him, you are happy. If we didnt sell him, you would be happy we didnt sell him. I dont recall you saying that we should sell Raya in your opinion...until it happened. This is why you will not say whether we should extend Downings contract, you have zero opinion. If we extend, you will be happy and the club made the right decision, if we dont extend, you will be happy and say the club made the right decision.
Selling Raya on it's own is not really the issue here. Yes i rated him and feel he will go on to have a PL career. Despite that, if we had replaced him with an experienced keeper that was better or at least equal, we would all be happy in the main, We didnt. We brought in a desperate loan kid after somehow not managing to line up a replacement before selling off our goalie. He has turned out to be one of the worst goalies I have seen pull on our jersey.
But you are happy we weakened our squad, all just to score points despite having no opinion on anything ever....
The silence speaks volumes.

Egil Ostenstad
Sebastian Perez
Odd choices.
Ostenstad didn't pull up any trees but he was okay backup in our promotion season.
Perez was a classy player, just his family didn't settle. I think we got our money back for him.

28 and playing in the fourth division, finally at his level.
Still hurts my brain to think of how many years we allowed him to stink up our midfield.
I remember a certain ginger who did nothing but sing his praises...
