  1. Why? I chose to make no comment on todays events other than the generalisation that that accident could have happened to anybody who was there. Whats the problem?

There are times when a tongue in a cheek just isn't appropriate. When a Rover's fan is fighting for his life, I reckon that's one of them.

    Maybe it's just me.

  2. Whatever happened this was an accident waiting to happen. I'll make no comment on this incident as the details have not been confirmed BUT with 1300 BRFC fans there that bin could have hit any one of them.

Sorry Theno but that comment has to go down as one of your low-lights on this board.

  3. Avatar 3D. Stunning.

Took my eldest to watch this today. For the first time in ages I actually felt that the overpriced cinema tickets were money well spent.

Fantastic film. Kept me and a 6 year old mesmerised for the full 2 hours and 41 minutes.

There is a definitely a political commentary but it does fit with the plot. There were also shades of Aliens and Matrix about it too.

  4. Benni is in the shop window right now looking to attract an offer for first team football prior to the WC. For me, this could explain his recent resurgence in form.

But I'm hoping that by reminding Sam what he's capable of he might convince him to find a way to keep him in the side. A deeper role, could mean he is interchangeable with Dunn. Although, if Dunn stays fit, Benni may sulk which could upset team morale. If Dunn isn't fit though, he could be worth his weight in gold.

The alternative, playing him alongside Di Santo or Roberts, means he gets caught offside with alarming regularity.

On the opposite side of the coin, a happy, playing Benni, with a World Cup in sight, would be a massive asset.

Plus, I would hate to see him go to a PL rival - he is still a class act.

  5. Propaganda to get a reaction? He's clearly fit enough to play how he plays. Based on his performance today, in the cups, last season he deserves to play.

He's fit enough for half a game with a point to prove.

He had a poor spell prior to being dropped, some people have short memories.

We had so many offsides in the first half today, Benni might as well have been on from the start!

  6. Watching Public Enemies on DVD and dissapointed really. The fact I'm on here says it all! Heat is still Michael Mann's best film! Btw, District 9 is superb if anyone hasnt seen it.

    Rovers 3-0 Pompey!

Close with that prediction. Quite like Collateral, that's Michael Mann isn't it?

  7. Hasn't Benni had swine flu and that was what Sam was referring to.

That wasn't what he was insinuating. It was more general. "We both know what Benni needs to do and if he can do that he'll be in the first team".

Makes me wonder if there has been some propaganda to get a reaction. It certainly worked today.

But for a few ill-advised flicks, he was superb when he came on.

  8. Benni is and always has been a class act. We don't have enough class as it is at Ewood to be able to keep Benni on the bench.

It's just that he's not fit. If he was I'm sure he'd be a starter.

Sam pretty much said as much before the game today on Radio Rovers.

Until Benni sorts himself out, he'll be restricted to a super sub role.

  9. C'mon SG (and others) use the old grey matter. Benny has intimated that he wants to go and to the best of my knowledge Jason Roberts hasn't! How the hell can we sell Roberts (or anyone else for that matter) if he decides to stay and see out his contract? This isn't 'Premiership manager' you know.

Amazing how people come on here and scream about a lack of loyalty of our players when they choose to transfer out. Ex players get Judas Neill / One greedy barsteward / etc etc yet as soon as someone like Roberts / Ped / has a drop in form we have to rip up his contract and bundle him out of the door asap. ffs!

Not sure it's quite that black and white Theno. Right at this moment in time would you be calling Roberts or Pedersen into your office to discuss their next Rovers contract? Or would you be making calls to agents to find buyers and leaning on your scouts to find replacements?

  10. I watched Juno over the weekend, anyone seen it? I went out and bought the DVD on the strength of the title character featuring in the 100 Greatest Movie Characters list a few pages back. Ellen Page is absolutely superb, cutting, witty and absolutely hilarious. A rarity in thats its a film full of young persons vernacular that isn't solely aimed at young people.

    Highly recommended.

EDIT: Just searched the thread and there's already a bit of dicussion about the film. Apologies, didn't check first.

If you like Juno, there's a chance you might like Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Another quirky indie flick.

  11. Ask any outsider, our team/squad is very average these days, and we have been losing our best/better players at an intense rate - Benni is a quality player still and can score goals - getting rid in January is very risky. Even with a big financial outlay, seemingly, Sam still struggled to bring in a striker who could make an impact.

Just to qualify: I don't want Benni to leave.

It's starting to sound more and more inevitable though. He wants first team football for his SA and our SA doesn't want to give him first team football. Not looking good.

  12. Not to shoot the messenger, but if Dunn has to be part of a 5 man midfield and our strikers aren't playing much as it is, why would we need 2 more?

We need to go to a diamond to better suit Dunn and give him 2 strikers to create chances for, keeping Nzonzi at the back to protect the defense.

Dunn, always a game away from injury

    Di Santo, leaving

    Benni, being ousted

That leaves Kalinic and Hoilett to learn their trade from er, Roberts

I'd say we need a couple of strikers if we ask Benni to go. One experienced PL one and probably another 6 month loan - preferably Di Santo.
