Johnson is solid and has been handy to have around but -yet again- the possession stuff doesn't suit him. One of about half a dozen that it didn't and it was a major reason they struggled for results last season.

When it was a bit more blood and thunder or counter attacking he looked better. The problem with him is simply this, he struggles to maintain a high level of fitness for whatever reason.  That's probably why he ended up here, TM liked a collection of half fit midfielders he could rotate.

Out of those that have left both him and Bennett will be on the lower end of the pay grade, or are prepared to be.  That's why they remain.

Look at Johnson’s stats. Number 1 for distant covered and pass completions. Facts don’t lie, you need to revaluate your perception of the guy. You obviously didn’t like him from the offset.

Not sure if others have made the point but Bennett and Johnson are both past it and in my view neither have ever performed since they've been at the Club in the first place anyway.

Their wages should have been saved and combined to find an experienced midfielder who can still perform.

If it's the case that Johnson had a new deal automatically triggered by a minimum number of appearances then we should have been careful not to trigger it as he's been desperately poor overall since arriving at the Club.

Johnson one of the best this season, everyone I talk to agree. I think you need to ..... sorry don’t want banning!  Khod - I hope I’ve not over stepped the mark.

bennett is/was only ever good enough to be a squad player,i guess mowbray loves him because he toes the party line, johnson is a mercenary, only here for one last biggish contract(now with a years extension☹️)lets be honest,i can count on one hand the amount of games he`s put 100% in,he`d have been the first to get released if i had my way, another dart thrown at the mowbray picture for me,just behind kean now in my rovers hatred list!!!

Are ITK how much is Johnson on for his big contract? I’m sure the club have negotiated his wage down. He’ll be on an average contract for his age and championship club. I’m surprised at the assumptions made on this forum. All footballers are mercenaries they have no loyalty.

Offering Johnson a deal was a surprise, but offering Bennett a deal was absolutely mind bending. I just don’t get that at all.

What’s the surprise? How much experience do we have at the club? Are you expecting to have a successful season with boys for the U23? For all Bennett’s faults he gives his all and is a model professional that the boys can hopefully emulate. PS we don’t have a pot piss in so don’t expect some mega deals. Armstrong’s money will go to India.

I understand grassroots is difficult to scout. Rep football isn't, people like me have done most of the work for them.  They just need to turn up and watch....🙄 don't get me wrong there are local Rovers scouts you just don't see them as much as others.

Their busy playing Dream League Soccer on their laptops hoping to unearth a hidden gem

No, the mods aren’t stopping free speech, we are stopping your insults of posters and general demeanour of rudeness.
If you want to hang around here for a while, I’d recommend enrolling at charm school quick sharp!

You’re setting double standards. Mowbray can be called all the names under the sun, and you do nothing. How do you know he’s not on this forum? Yet when a very very mild rebuke is issued you become heavy handed.

    Yes we ARE.

    https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2021/april/transfer-embargo---club-update/#:~:text=Following reports in the national,deadline of March 1st 2021.

along with the club’s Profit & Sustainability submissions for the current year, for which we have until June 30th to meet our financial projections.

Meaning we have until June 30th to bring in the projected income (Arma) to get out of the embargo.

I’m sure the mods are stopping free speech. I replied to this last night and it’s vanished! The article DOES NOT CONFIRM WE ARE IN EMBARGO. Read the bloody article.

Based on what I am watching. If any of them become first team regulars we really are in the shit. They may make it as far as desperate cover. I hope that I am wrong.

What qualifies you to determine they’re not going to make it to the first team? Rather than watching, have you any qualifications that are better than our coaches? My glass is half full, yours must be half empty.

Maglorie and Chapman are leaving this season. Both out of contract

Wharton will be injured next season and is Ayala ever going to be fit.

I suggest we need 2 midfielders to compete with those 4. If you playing 4-4-2 then Rothwell wouldnt be in midfield 2.

Will Nyambe, JRC or Rothwell even be here or sold this summer cos they wont sign contract extensions? Or lose them for nothing in 12 months time

Brereton isnt a striker. Suits wide role in front 3..

I’ve not seen anything that suggests Maglorie is leaving. Come on Mr ITK why the hell is he leaving? Your one on this site that constantly writes talent off without seeing them. You tell us ow mighty one how many games have you seen him play this season?

Didn't know Kinder was a Rovers fan. He's still got the passion for the club.

    Worth a listen.

@JoeH you might want to listen to the answer he gives about the U23's at Man Utd and players like Rashford in particular. I'm glad Eric agrees with me ?

Eric was and still is a Blackburn boy. I was at school with him in the 1970’s, he was also a very good cricketer. My memory is fading but I’m sure he played for Cherry Tree for many years.

  11. I’ve read Mowbray’s comments in the Telegraph. It’s a repeat of last season with Raya being picked out for criticism and forcing him to look to move clubs. I’m certain the dropping and publicly saying he lacks confidence is designed to force the boy to look at moving. Mowbray wants to be seen as a good man manager, in reality he’s manipulating and is not looking after the best interests of the Rovers which is to get the best out of our young players. Bennett has made no end of mistakes (not all resulting in goals) and doesn’t have positional sense of my two year old grand daughter. What dirt does he have on Mowbray?
