1. I can't stand the fact he's in our team, I find him comical, and never get on his back when I'm at the games.

The truth is though, this is a messageboard, where opinions are shared and discussed. Would you visit if somebody started a thread, and then hundreds of people replied saying ''yes i agree, well done.''

Didn't think so. Kuqi is useless, a waste of a player on the pitch. He doesn't deserve a song and I'd gve 100% if I got to play for us. Would that be enough to please you?

  2. Hopefully we should have a new striker by Wednesday or, failing that, Bellamy should be fit.

If neither happens I reckon we should play like Ajax/1970s Brazil with NO strikers:

            Pedersen  Bentley

    Peter    Tugay    Savage  Reid

    Gray    Nelsen  Zurab    Niell

                        Freidel

The wide player and the front two could rotate and move about the pitch bemusing the Utd defence. Think of it, we would be AWESOME!

Of course this is a ridiculous idea but I have a suspicion that it might be better than having Kuqi on from the start. Better to have himcoming off the bench in the second half.

It's depressing that I like the look/sound of that.

  3. Tonight emphasised the need for Pedersen to offer us more I'm afraid.

It may seem like I'm just waiting to jump but this really isn't the case, I just really wish he used the technical ability he had to improve his game.

When you are playing against a three man midfield, you should be able to utalise the additional space, rather than somehow hiding in it, and I'm afraid MGP has a long way to go before he can justify being our 'star player' or suggest he should earn the same as Bellamy.

  4. How can anybody care enough to sit and grade each player?

The team played well enough to get a result, but individual errors have cost us a game of football. Kuqi is clearly not good enough, but it's not as if we needed that showing tonight to confirm that. Also, Kuqi is kidding nobody, Hughes too will realise he's not good enough, and will move him on when he's done his bit (This summer I would imagine).

Our eight match run has come to an end, but not with any disgrace, so let's just look onwards and upwards and use this defeat as a catalyst to make sure we get into europe through the means left to us.

  5. 0-0 game, really unlucky to lose but can't complain about the application (To use a Hughes word)

Positives are that Utd will be without Smith and possibly Giggs for the league game, and also the game emphasised how much we need another striker, so that might just edge Hughes into the market with a tab more urgency.

Also, we need United to beat Wigan in the final as it will mean an extra european place for the league.

  6. Leave well alone. Rovers have got a great system going and players are proving more and more interchangeable. Start with Saturday's XI replacing Dickov with Bellamey and Kuqi with Bentley and we'll be OK.

I think this rumour of RFW starting with Rooney, van Nistelrooyd and Saha is his mind game for this week. He knows as well as we do that we'll say ta very much for that line-up.

    biggrin.gif Speak for yourself.

No, I do know what your getting at but any team with Rooney, Saha and Van Nistelrooy in it is pretty damn dangerous. One advantage would be Tugay would get plenty of room to play his football. Is Park definately out?

I do think Bentley and Bellamy is the way to go for Rovers. Kuqi is an easy ride for the centre backs over 90 minutes, but coming on as sub he could cause them problems?! (I think I said them problems)

The more I think about it, the less I can see us winning. In my head I really can't see a scenario where we come out as winners. I just pray I'm wrong.

With that in mind I don't know who I want to win tonights semi final. If it's an Arsenal v Man Utd final, it's an extra league position for europe. If two teams already in europe then reach the FA Cup final then it'll be down to the top 7 getting UEFA Cup places.

  7. I always thought he was considered the Beckham type of player to balance out the right side as Souey didn't think you could play with two wingers. I think Emerton has been hard done by and is actually a good player, for that amount he hasn't been that bad of a signing and I still think if he could just regularly produce the goods he'll turn into a good signing. He's certainly been more useful in recent times then he has previously.

    377449

Considering Emerton is probably a high earner, I wonder if Rovers will consider offering him a new contract at any point this year, as next January he is free to talk to other clubs.

I can see him down the road at Bolton personally, as I'm unsure as to whether he warrants the outlay.

  8. I enjoy sparring with you shillito as you fall for every trap I leave for you.

    I didn't say I hadn't seen him play did I?

Presumably you think Arsenal Academy, Reserves or subs bench is an appropriate place from which to pick the England World Cup squad?

I guess he'll get a bit of a run for the Arse first team but he'll be in and out like Fabregas has been. Don't forget there's the Arsenal signings in Egypt at the moment.

    377458

    Yawn.

You really have no idea Manuel.

If Wenger is planning on letting him play in the acedemy/reserves, why was he so hellbent on not allowing Southampton to loan him back?

Like I said, Rooney, age 17, more sub appearences than starts, wins first England cap. Been in every squad ever since.

Why? Beacause he was good enough.

I eagerly await your next ''trap.'' Or is that armchair opinion?

  9. How many times have you seen walcott play?

in live games I mean (including TV)...but not just highlight packages.

    377454

Only twice in full live games, and of course I've seen all the highlights.

Again, as I am sick of saying, I'm not starting some kind of campaign, just raising a possibility!

Philip clearly has never seen Walcott play in any capacity and I have no idea if you have but your arguments are based purely around age, making them very weak in the argument I am presenting. (See my above post)

  10. I don't think any of us are unable to accept the possibility of a 16 year old being good enough to play for his national team, but I'm also not being sold into thinking he's the complete package because he's been sold for X million. Come June, at best, we could be looking at a player who's played in 10-15 games for Arsenal, I can't even see that being true, does that really make you deserve a place in the world cup?

    377445

    Two points...

Firstly, I never said Walcott should be in the WC Squad. I asked would it be a possibility if he had a good half season at Arsenal.

Secondly, he will be 17 by the summer, the same age Rooney was when he deputised for England, and if he plays half a season, will have the same amount of experience. So if Rooney was good enough, why not Walcott? I am not even semi suggesting Walcott should play anywhere near a full game, but I feel in a squad of 23 players, there is room for one wildcard with obvious quality, who can come on for ten minutes and possibly do one thing which can inspire a last minute goal. Though Englands first eleven is littered with match winning quality, on the bench I see very few, if any options that give England this unpredictability and quality.

This is obviously only going to be a possibility should he play a decent amount for Arsenal. Whether this will happen remains to be seen, but other than his age, you have given very little reason other than age as to why Walcott shouldn't be taken in the capacity I am suggesting.

  11. What nobody seems to be commenting on at all (not just here but in any kind of media) is the rediculour amount of injuries Rovers had under Souness. It can be no coincidence everywhere he goes all his players get injured, he just clearly prepares them insuficiently....

Off the top of my head...

Craig Short... Out constantly through Souness' reign.. Now playing regularaly for Sheff Utd in Championship.

Henning Berg.. Missed a third of the action when we finished 6th, moved on to finish his playing days injury free in Glasgow.

Amoruso.. Always injured under Souness. Now fully fit but out of favour.

David Thompson.. Ditto, has regained full fitness under Hughes, but no longer good enough. Sold to Wigan.

David Dunn.. Missed alot of action throughout his last season, and to be fair has only just regained full fitness.

Damien Duff.. Missed half the season we finished 6th, not been cursed with injuries as much since he left Rovers.

Barry Ferguson.. Hardly played under Souness, an unfortunate injury; This one probably can't be blamed on poor preperation.

Steven Reid.. Hardly saw him under Souness due to constant injuries sustained in his first year as a Rover,.. Now a first team squad regular and never seems to be injured.

Andy Cole.. Will give Souness the benefit of the doubt, but missed a few months the season we finished 6th a hamstring injury, an injury Souness' teams have great problems with.

So it's not as if this is a new theme under Souness, yet now he's up there he's thinking he's cursed... Anyone got a mirror handy for Greame?

  12. The solution is obvious.

Walcott to be appointed England player-coach when more dirt forces Sven out next Monday.

    377382

Incidently have you seen any of Walcott out there in Malta, or are your views coming blindly as you seem unable to accept the possiblity of a 16 year old being good enough for his national team?
